Summary: She Would Never Be Low Down Again...
Review: "Low Down" wanted nothing in return for nursing a mining camp full of men thru disease, but after the mens recovery, they excitedly force her to reveal her hearts one true desire. They are willing to do anything in thanks for her nursing them back to health and saving their lives. Reluctant at first, Low Down finally admits that she wants nothing more than a baby.
The men are shocked...rightfully so, but through a wild string of events, Max McCord finds himself the one offered up to fulfill her wish. Max and Low Down agree to a temporay marriage that can only end in disaster... Low Down wants nothing to do with a husband and Max is in love with another.
"Silver Lining" is such a good book that I could die! I read this in one sitting with only a 3 hour nights sleep interruption. How could I possibly sleep with this amazing story just aching to be finished?? I loved everything about this. I loved Max and his family so much, but really this was "Low Down"'s book. She was amazing I loved her so much. She has definitely become one of my favorite characters that I have ever met. Truly, this story is just so amazing, and heartwarming, and funny, and just all around wonderful... A genuine keeper.

Summary: I'm working with Maggie at last!
Review: As a long-time romance reader, I have many authors that I love from afar, and hope that one day, as an editor, I'll maybe get to work with them. Maggie Osborne is the first writer where that dream has become a reality. And boy, has she lived up to every expectation! SILVER LINING is her best book yet. If you haven't ever had the pleasure of reading Maggie, make room on your keeper shelf.

Summary: I have yet to be disappointed by any of Ms. Osbourne's books
Review: As with all of her previous books, Silver Lining is a great, down-to-earth, realistic story. Our characters, for the most part, are plain speaking, gritty, pioneer westerners. Unlike most plots, where one person misunderstands the other, or feels deceived, Low Down and Max know at all times what circumstances are and what they have to work with. They both are not happy with what fate has thrown their way, but really try not to blame the other for their "situation". It is this no blame plot, that really got me hooked and enjoy reading the story.

Ms. Osbourne does a good job at defining both Max and Low Down. Showing the reader what it is that makes them tick, their motivation and history. Each plays the "what if" game, but knows they could not, or would not have done anything differently. I'm not sure I agree with Low Down's sudden nesting instincts, but we do get glimpses of longings from her past for a settled life (her thoughts about laundry lines, etc.) Max's desire to roam before the ending of his bachelor life, is more easily understood.

It is the little details that make a story great, and Silver Linings is full of them. Things that might not directly reflect as important to the story, but that make the story come alive. The only weak link in this book is the self-centered ex-fiance. Maybe I just have never run across anyone that selfish or self absorbed, because her character seemed out of place in this story. Don't pass this one by for a great read.

Summary: A very sweet story with
Review: characters that you like immediately. How Ms. Osborne managed to create a female lead that was so unattractive to start and then became so well loved and desired is the gift of her pen. If you enjoy books that tell a beautiful story and fill that story with much detail about their lives and their surroundings, then Maggie Osborne is the one for you.

Summary: A truly memorable story
Review: From a story told by her father to a young Maggie, Ms. Osborne wrote a truly remarkable story. A mining town in Colorado is the setting for 2 people who have nothing in common, a temporary marriage that spell disaster. Can these 2 strangers find the silver lining that both desire? This is a story that will stay with me for a long time.

Summary: Another Good Osborne Book
Review: I have read several Maggie Osborne books and I was looking for another good one. Again I was not disappointed. Maggie Osborne has a fabulous way of taking a female catagory whose world isn't perfect and leads you through life circumstances that shows the true character of the heroine. The end of course, is happy.

Summary: A wonderful find
Review: I loved this book. I had never heard of the author before, but was intrigued by the synopsis. I read it in one sitting. I thought the storyline was brilliant -- something new in a genre where a lot of the plots are very similar. The characters were wonderfully introduced and evolved. I would definitely recommend it, and I will probably read it many more times.

Summary: Read it twice in a row!
Review: I read the book so fast the first time, I had to read it again. The characters are well written. You fall in love with Low Down and gain much respect for Max. If you like historical romances, than this is the book to read. I recommend ALL of Maggie Osborne's books! She is an excellent story teller.

Summary: BEST OF THE BEST!!!
Review: I simply love reading early western stories about strong and courageous women and this is one of the best I've ever read. You can just see the dirty mining camps and "smell" the dirty ripped clothing that they all wear. The one thing that the heroine wants from the men that she nursed back from death is a baby to love (something of her very own), so she marrys the man that draws the "short straw" so to speak. When he takes her back to his family's acreage she has to prove to herself, her husband, and his family that she is truly a woman to be honored and respected. The only thing that she has of value is a small silver spoon that she puts up on the mantel in their home, which was suppose to be inhabited by her new husband's ex-fiancee and himself. This is a story of Montana's worst winter in history and how a man and woman work together to save their livestock and their very lives. The best book I have read in years and I read "strong women" types of books constantly!
