Summary: out right howl!!
Review: Don't stop to ask questions, just kick back and ENJOY!! This is one funny book. Maggie Davis aka Katherine Deauxville is a charming lady and a wonderful artist, and both show in the warm and funny tale of 29 year old Dr. Peter Havistock who announces to the world he is a virgin looking for a wife. When he was not yet 15, the plane carrying his parents and him crash land in the jungle of New Guinea. For the next 14 years, he lives with the tribe that rescued him. However, since they deemed him their 'golden god' they would not permit him to marry within their tribe. Also, they had high moral standards, so he is now nearly 30 and a virgin. He is a profession of anthropology and in on a book tour of college campuses to promote his story and the lives of the tribe that raised him. And he has a very attention catching style that is fanning the flames of press and women alive.

Leslie Wimberly is in charge of handling the book tour. A beautiful 34 year old divorcée, she is finding the Professor a big more than she can handle. From his G string demonstration of authentic native gab, to defending him from mobs of women, to the announcing he has never been kissed before, leaves her running in circles.

It is fast pasted, funny and absolute laugh out loud riot. Only thing I find fault with is I wish she spent more time between the two main characters instead of Leslie talking about him to everyone else.

So if you need a pick me up...a cheer to your weekend....this is the tonic!!!

WISE WRITERS AND READERS BOOK OF THE MONTH FOR NOVEMBER 2002

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: this was refreshingly different....I LOVE the cover!!!
Review: Dr. Peter Havistock has been raised from age fourteen by an Aborigine tribe
in Papua New Guinea since the plane that he and his parents were on crashed,
killing his parents. As Peter grew into an adult, he studied to become an
anthropologist and continued his parents studies of the Aborigine culture.
And he wrote a book of his experiences and travels to the country of his
birth to promote it on a widespread book tour of prestigious colleges in the
United States.

Leslie Hall-Gruman is the director in charge of escorting Dr. Peter
Havistock on his tour. Wimberly Foundation was founded by her prominient
family and she is very annoyed with the wild antics of Peter during his
tour, which she fears will disgrace Wimberly and her family's honor. From
his Antorok dance before a full house of Yale students in near naked native
costume, authentic G-string included, to his bold announcement of his
virginity on a live nationwide TV program, Leslie is in a frenzy. Peter is
more than handsome and has an extremely nice physique, so after these very
public events he becomes a media sensation, with hordes of desperate women
that are eager to get their hands on him and relieve him of his chaste
state. However, Peter wants Leslie and makes his desires known.

I found this story to be very humorous, from the hilarious antics of the
hero and the total exasparation of the heroine, to the overlong title of
Peter's book. It was a different story for me but I found it interesting
with outrageous scenes that made me laugh out loud more than once. And
drool....the hero was some kind of hunk!!!

Summary: a brilliantly funny book!
Review: I finished STAGE DOOR CANTEEN by Maggie Davis, and absolutely loved it. So I asked my aunt what other things this author wrote and was surprised to find out Maggie Davis is also Maggie Daniels and Katherine Deauxville. Small wonder then, a writer so talented could write a WWII drama, and yet turn around and pen light, whimsical romance such as THE LAST MALE VIRGIN and the one I am reading now, OUT OF THE BLUE. They are fast paced, laugh out loud humour. I have seen some reviewers putting this book down, but I checked out the reviewers other reviews and they are heavy romance readers. Yes, this is a romance, but a light romance that is done with wicked tongue through cheek. Maybe those readers were looking to "identify" with the heroine, instead of just setting back and enjoying truly sharp writing.

I saw RIO - Reviewers International Organization - gave this the RIO Award for Best Contemporary Romance for 2002. Small wonder. Very refreshing.

Summary: very fresh, original and surprising!
Review: I really liked this book. I saw it received the RIO's(Reviewers International Organization) Dorothy Parker's Award of Excellence for 2003 and hear rumors that it's been optioned to be a movie. Think it would make a good one.

The writing in Deaxville's special off the wall humour. She was always one of the best at glitz and glamour.

I especially liked her Out of the Blue. Maybe a few people do not get the pace because it is not strickly FORUMLA romance. It should be judged on itself, not a forumala for anything, because it was so original, so fresh.

The characters were very human and so funny.

Summary: witty charm, fast-paced antics, and a twist of delight
Review: Leslie Wimberly Hall-Grumman, known for her ability to handle the media wolfhounds like Maureen Boyd who hunted for that one story that would land them the Pulitzer Prize nomination, reached her wits end during the book tour her foundation scheduled for Dr. Peter Havistock. Convinced the tour cursed with aboriginal voodoo, she begged the CEO to release her from the contracted tour. Turning to the legal department and her ex-husband, she looked for legal ways to extradite herself and save her sanity.

Peter Havistock, Doctor of Anthropology and Paramount Chief over all minor Antorok Chiefs, known for his antics with the media and outrageous presentations, came to America to find the woman of his dreams. With his goals intact, Peter set out to turn the literary world up side down and to win the one and only woman he had desired since his early twenties.

Katherine Deauxville provides readers with witty charm, fast-paced antics, and a twist of delight with her new book THE LAST MALE VIRGIN. She exhibits talent for creating well-developed characters as demonstrated with the heroine's strong morals and the hero's vibrant curiosity. After you read this story of humorous romance, try another one by Katherine Deauxville and check out: OUT OF THE BLUE.

Summary: Sexy and funny!
Review: Leslie Wimberly knew that there would be trouble when her current charge, Dr. Peter Havistock appeared on "Harry" King Live in a native costume which included a rare bird plummage "codpiece". Then, he revealed, on national television that he was nearly thirty and had never had sex. To top it all off, he was a gorgeous male virgin at that. The tribe that had taken him in after his parents death in the wilderness had kept him apart from female contact, as was tradition for them, in the hopes that someday, he woudl marry and make an advantageous political alliance for them in the outside world. Further complications arise when Leslie catches his fancy, and he asks her to be that bride.

The next few weeks are spent trying to manage this difficult hunk, dodge women who want to deflower Peter, and hide from scandal sheets. Falling in love is not on the agenda, but it happens nonetheless.

***** This delightful screwball comedy will keep you in stitches from beginning to end. Not only is Peter a treat to visualize, but his combination of savvy and innocence is a refreshing change from the ordinary hero. Leslie typifies the highly stressed woman of today who needs the kind of escape Peter offers. This is just the charmer that you would expect from the woman who wrote OUT OF THE BLUE. ***** ...

Summary: Major disappointment
Review: My first review so I am virgin reviewer, so think it apt I chose the Last Male Virgin to wrote about. I saw this book won the RIO - Reviewers International Organisation's Dorothy Parker's Award of Excellence award, beating out Nora Robert and several other big names. And there is a reason. It's funny and I think perfect for a movie. Many books do not trasfer well to screen but this one and her other book Out of the Blue both would do well as a movie.

I enjoyed Peter Havistock and wish he was running around my neighbourhood. It was funny and utterly delightful.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Great premise but left a bit to be desired.
Review: Peter was in a devastating plane crash when he was 14. Both of his parents passed away in the crash, and Peter was found and raised by a native tribe in the mountains of Papua New Guinea. As Peter advanced in years he continued to learn the ways of his "adoptive family" and has ended up as their supreme chief. As part of this he has actually left the tribe to be able to pursue his doctorate in Aboriginal culture. With his doctorate complete and a book written it has been decided that Peter is now to leave and find a wife.
Leslie Wimberly Hall-Gruman of the Wimberly Foundation is charged with escorting Dr. Peter on his book tour of the most prestigious colleges, as the Foundation is sponsoring him and his book tour. Leslie is not amused by his ease in flirting with her and in his dress (or lack there of) when promoting his book. The fact that is, is super good looking does not make this any easier. Then on National TV he announces that not only is he looking for a wife but also he is a virgin. This sends the women of the Northeast into a frenzy to be introduced to Peter, and makes Leslie's job so much harder.
But, Peter seems to only have eyes for one person - Leslie. While the women of the Northeast & Mid-Atlantic States are all setting out to try and "de-flower" Peter he is romancing Leslie in his own way.

I am sorry to say that I thought the premise for this book was a lot better than the book itself. That and the fact that the lead female I wanted to strangle most of the time let me wanting more than the book delivered.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: High Potential, Low Delivery
Review: The title is provocative, the story line is very promising, but the book ended up only so-so.

Peter is so cute, earnest, and funny, but he seemed a bit one-dimensional in his pursuit of Leslie. Katherine Deauxville didn't reveal much of his personality. I could not for the life of me figure out why he was so head over heels for Leslie, who seemed pretty uptight and lacked character and vivacity.

Overall, there were a handful of drop-dead funny scenes, but pages of drawn-out prose and descriptive scenes of high-society DC life in between. Around 120 pages into it, I was disappointed to find myself looking at how many more pages there were until the end. It was tough to finish, but the ending was pretty cute.

Really, this book was a mixed bag. There are better ones out there.
