Summary: Another hit!
Review: "Ther Rival" like all of Ms. Joyce's book was great. It was a book that made me cry and held me in mystery all the way 'til the end. Brenda Joyce is my favorite author - and "The Rival" is a hit as usuall!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An emotional page-turner not to be missed!
Review: A well-written novel that I didn't want to put down. The best historical romance I've read in ages. It actually has a plot and interesting characters, who are not your typical romance cliche people. It definitely deserves 5 stars!

Summary: The Rival
Review: Another one of my favorite romance novels, this one has me in constant suspense! One of the best writers around today! The plots are very unusual. The characters are complex. BJ is not afraid to touch any topic and I really love that! A must read!

Summary: I was very disappointed, Brenda Joyce is usually very good.
Review: I felt this book was very boring. The subject matter was great! Yet, the book was to long for the subject and I actually skipped chapters just to finish the book. I was very disappointed because she is one of my favorite authors. This is not one of her best works.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not really a romance!
Review: I got this book thinking that it would be a satisfying romantic read like Ms Joyce's previous novels, but was greatly disturbed.
There is hardly any romance in it and the book is full of trials and tribulations faced by the hero and heroine.
I love to read intense love stories, so I am not against the dark factor of this novel, only that there isn't much of a love story in this one.
Still it was a pretty fast read, and so the 3 stars.

Summary: Not the best of Brenda Joyce
Review: I have been a fan for a long time. Have read all her books. I have been very disappointed in the last three. Hope Ms Joyce goes back to her former way of writing.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not Brenda Joyce's best effort...
Review: I have been an avid reader of Brenda Joyce's novels for a while. I was very disappointed by "The Rival". It started out great, but the characters were not really that interesting. Some of her earlier works were much better. I hope the next Brenda Joyce I read is much better, or I will be turning to other authors.

Summary: brenda joyce does it again
Review: I have enjoyed all of her books, however, The Rival was exceptionally good, right up at the top of my list with the Conqueror and the Captive. I could not put down the book until I was finished. As usual, the relationship between the two main characters was extremely sensual. I loved it.

Summary: TOO SICK!!
Review: I have read "The Conqueror" and thought it was great except for the sister "Lady Alice" ....sicko, then read "Splendor" and thought it was so good except for Niki's wife, the Princess. She was even sicker. But this book had incest, so much cruelty, and so many really sick, evil characters. The story was dark, depressing and so sad. I have only one thing to say and that was the very last page in the book gave me hope. I am not sure I really want to read anymore of Ms. Joyce's books and I honestly wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Sorry.
