Summary: Not as fantastic as I expected
Review: Autumn Lover was good. The only problem I had was in Hunter's attitude towards Elyssa. He constantly made disparaging assumptions about her character, and I found it difficult to accept his eventual love for her. He disliked the way she dressed, the way she moved, in fact EVERYTHING about her! Elyssa, knowing that her old dresses did not cover her up very well, and knowing that it contributed to unwelcome advances from one of her hands, continued to wear them, even though she was unconfortable in those clothes. I liked her character - she was strong and determined. Although Hunter's past does redeem him to a certain extent, it still couldn't justify all of his actions. Winter Fire is a much better read - definitely 5 stars, and worth buying. I'd recommend reading this book, if only to get more insight into Case Maxwell's character.

Summary: Trust is everything
Review: Each chapter took me in to the country deeper and deeper that I found myself living during the era. Loving nature in its finest, I couldnt put this book to rest. Every moment away from it made me need to read and feel the power move thru my body as if this was my life. Have just started to read Ms Lowells work and with each book I'am transfer to a time and place so distant from my own. Loved this book and BEAUTIFUL DREAMER. Just bought three more of her books to start again. They have a gentle powerful way about the history and people.

Summary: A Definite Page Turner
Review: I couldn't wait to get to the next chapter. This was my first Lowell book and I wasn't disappointed. I actually went out and bought the sequel "Winter Fire", I enjoyed that one just as much. I was sorry to see that this was the end of the Maxwell brothers, wish there were a few more! I would read anything by Ms. Lowell she's a talented writer that gets your attention from the first page.

Summary: Best Book!
Review: I liked the western romance, it was full of sexual tension and action. Although I agree that Hunter was scarred by war and death I don't agree with the way he talked to Elyssa most of the time. A woman deserves respect and somethings were just too much. I Would have done a lot of other things in her place like slapp him a few times. She should have been a bit stronger. All in all it is a good romance novel, it is fast paced and satisfied me.

Summary: NOT A VERY GOOD BOOK
Review: I THOUGHT I WOULD LIKE "AUTUMN LOVER" WHEN I BOUGHT IT, AND ACTUALLY IT WAS A GOOD BOOK IN THE BEGINNING, BUT WHEN I GOT TO THE MIDDLE OF THE BOOK, I STOPPED LIKING IT. I DIDN'T LIKE THE WAY HUNTER HUMILIATED ELYSSA THINKING SHE WAS NOT A VIRGIN. THE REST OF THE STORY DIDN'T GET ANY BETTER EITHER. THEY KEPT HAVING SEX, BUT NOT OUT OF LOVE, ONLY FOR LUST. AND DESPITE HUNTER HUMILIATING ELYSSA, SHE STILL LIKES HUNTER AND WANT TO BE CLOSE TO HIM!
I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ANYONE. SAVE YOUR MONEY.

Summary: Best Book I've Ever Read!!!
Review: I was somewhat skeptical about reading this book because I had read some of the reviews and had anticipated a cruel, horrible hero that constantly taunted the heroine. However, what the reviews didn't say is that sexy, mysterious Hunter Maxwell is only saying those harsh things to Elyssa because he was jealous of the other men falling all over her while desperately fighting his own feelings toward her. I read at least one romance book a week and would actually have to say this book is the best I've ever read, from anyone. The attraction and chemistry between Elyssa and Hunter is estatic! This is definately a MUST READ!!!

Summary: Couldn't put it down!
Review: This was my first book by Elizabeth Lowell and one of the few historical westerns I have read. If all the historical westerns out there were as well written as this I would read more of them. Lowell did an excellent job of allowing the reader to really get inside the main characters heads. The passion and the emotions between Hunter and Elyssa jump right off the pages at you. I was dissapointed when I realized I was near the end of the book but glad that I had Winter Fire to start right away so I could find out what happened to Case and the Culpeppers. I will definitely buy more of Lowell's books.

Summary: Overall Good Book
Review: While there were a few times I felt the hero was overly harsh with Elyssa, calling her a whore because of some stuff he'd overheard in the local bar or whatever - and doing so until he has proof of her virginity - the rest was terrific.

The romance of the novel if very well-done overall and despite the aforementioned harsh words the hero comes across sympathetically. I found the end satifying as well - the guy finally gets his own words about lust and love thrown back at him. I definitely enjoyed his conversion.

By the way, the sequel to this, Winter Fire is a must-read, better in my opinion. Don't miss it!
