Summary: ONE OF THE MOST DISAPPOINTING BOOKS EVER READ.
Review: The book and the storyline started out great. The characters were perfect, as was the setting. Then it all went wrong. It's amazing to think that something like this was even published. The ending was vulgar and pointless. Did men really refer to women's private parts with modern day profanities back then?!
She turned an absoulutely wonderful story into trash. It was my first Kinsale book and my last.

Summary: The thinking person's romance
Review: This book is right up there with Flowers of the Storm as one of Kinsale's best. She keeps you guessing, she interjects humor, and her characters--and their interactions--are definitely unique. This is a multi-layered character study, one I have already read twice and enjoyed more the second time.

Summary: Love letters do not a plot make.
Review: This book opened with a series of beautifully written letters that introduced the reader to interesting characters. Yet, the characters soon became boring as did the story because the story fell into a routine of incidents and contrived meetings, rather than a page-turning plot. The writer might do well to spend some time on plot as well as prose.

Summary: A sweet story with a heroine that was practical and real
Review: This is the only book that I have read by Laura Kinsale, but I am hooked on her style and I plan to read all of her novels. I found that this story was romantic without being trashy, the tension that builds between the couple is incredible. I also appreciated Folie's bewilderment in the relationship, this was a true reaction. So often heroines are brash and decisive, it was refreshing to find a woman who was admittedly confused about exactly where her relationship was going.

Summary: An extraordinarily good book!
Review: This was my first Laura Kinsale read, and I picked it up because it was in the "time and place" I wanted--Regency England.

The story was so sweet--beginning with Robert's and Folie's correspondence. The plot was complex but not hard to understand, and Folie was a most endearing character. While Robert was harder to figure out, we had enough insight into his thoughts to keep the story interesting.

I'm looking forward to reading more of Ms. Kinsale's stories, although I don't see how she can top "My Sweet Folly."

Summary: Rare and wonderful journey
Review: This was the first novel that I read by Laura Kinsale and it started me searching for others. I was bowled over by the originality of the characters and the depth of the story. None of her romances just go happily bouncing along to a predicable ending (marriage between the hero and heroine) with a few quarrels and a little danger on the way. You feel depths of emotion and from elation to despair and uncertainty about the outcome. It is a real journey.

Summary: very entertaining
Review: Unlike many romances, the plot and characters of My Sweet Folly were very believable and actually delightful The historial setting was fascinating. For example, I don't think I've read any other book with a Regency England setting that truly conveyed how superficial and even boring the society balls such as Almack's might have been and how limited the communication between the sexes might have been. Yet, Kinsale conveys this without being the least bit boring and with a rich understanding of her characters, even small ones.

At first, like Folie the herione, you don't know what's going on. Is Robert insane? Is he an orge? Is he mean? There is a lot of adventure and miscommunication and so on before they understand what's happening and what their feelings for each other are. There are touches of humor. It is a good, thick, enjoyable read perfect for summe
