Rating: Summary: Not One of Small's Best Review: This story seemed to be a (very) watered down version of "Enchantress Mine". After the first couple of chapters, the story seems to bog down and go nowhere fast. Predictable.
Rating: Summary: Very captivating. Review: This was my first book by B. Small and found the development of the character Elf wonderful. I thourghly enjoyed the plot line and the wonderful description of the characters and the period. I will reread this one.
Rating: Summary: Worth reading, but not her best work. Review: Worth reading, but not her best work. I have been searching in Small's recent works for the same things that I fell in love with in her previous works such as Skye O'Malley (and the whole O'Malley series), the Kadin and other novels... to no avail. I still enjoyed reading this book, but there were none of the usual things that makes her books so special.
Rating: Summary: Not one of her best, but still a compelling romance... Review: Yes, she was prepared to be a Bride of Christ, but Eleanore's goodness is just not believable. I mean, would anyone but the Virgin Mary voluntarily put herself to work in the household of the man who kidnapped her? But I still found myself glued to the pages as I do with just about all of Small's novels, and there was something about the purity of the love between the hero and heroine that tugged at my heartstrings. What a refreshing change to find a medieval (not my favorite category) romance where the primary characters love each other so much they don't even consider being unfaithful! Bertrice Small still has the magic touch with this reader!
