Rating: Summary: I did finish this tripe. Review: I have always known this author enjoyed writing somewhat sexually perverted books, but this one was very lame. all the garbage of weather she should verbally declare her love for her husband. and the awfulness of her ex-sister-in-law. Who has no redeeming values whatsoever. and the villian of a welsh border lord who is horrid until he mets our ex-nun little wife from england, who he falls in love with and will not defile, even though he previously slaughters and rapes a whole nunnery of virgins. What garbage. then he goes and joins a group of monks in the end to do the right thing and save his immortal soul. After he has caught and killed the evil ex-sister-in-law who poisoned our little heroines brother. I found myself skimming over alot of the mushy lust scenes, and the how do it tell him/her that i really love him/her, and will he/she believe me if i do tell him/her. The story of his going to France to escort the king's wife and heir to England never did pan out, either for him or for this story. the confrontation between the two evil nemisises didn't pan out either, it was all rather tame and lame. i don't recommend this title. Ms. Beatrice has done much better is her earlier works. I would recommend the Kadin instead as long as you enjoy very explicit love making. and her historical research is excellent. I do applaude her on that.
Rating: Summary: This book was boring Review: I have loved and reread all of Bertrice Small especially Love wild and Fair, The Kadin, This heart of mine. The Innoncent was boring. I didn't like the story. I felt the characters were flat and uninteresting. I thought the characters were really stereotypes.
Rating: Summary: Such a perfect heroine, but can she walk on water? Review: I have never read a Small book so boring. The heroine is not only divinely beautiful but so perfect I was waiting for her to start faith healing and walk on water. The characters all seemed like caricatures than actual people. Ranulf was boring, no fire there to burn the perfect heroine. The only character worth reading about was Merin and even he was overtaken by the perfect perfectness of Elf. Don't waste your money.
Rating: Summary: I Haven't Met A Bertrice Small Novel I Didn't Like!!! Review: I read this book in one day. I could not put it down. Once again Ms. Small put her hooks in me and did not let loose until the book was over!! Elf was such a wonderful character, i enjoyed watching her grow from a shy quiet nun into a spunky lady of the manor! I have read a lot of the reviews for this book and other Bertrice Small books and have noticed people complaining about the age difference's being unbelieveable. I don't even pay attention to that. Come on people, these are "story books", use your imagination, if you are uncomfortable with the age make them anything you want! The only reason i didn't give this book 5 stars is that i would have enjoyed reading more of Ms. Small's lush and lovely love scene's...

Rating: Summary: a little tiresome Review: I stumbled across my first Bertrice Small title--Skye O'Malley--in a used bookstore years ago and have been hooked ever since! The Innocent is vintage Small--lush, erotic, sensual and rich with character and characters. Elf is a classic Small heroine--independent, stubborn, willful, and touched with the innocence the title suggests. A warm read for the coming cold winter nights!

Rating: Summary: Eleanor was true to herself and others. Review: I take Elf's innocence as an occupational requirement of her chosen vocation along with her virginity. I had no idea that she was such a strong character, especially when she dealt with her evil sister-in-law Isleen. Elf was everything that Isleen wasn't, that's what made the story so interesting. Despite Isleen's schemes to ruin Eleanor and Aschlin, Eleanor always came out the victor. The story flowed easily, so easily in fact that I couldn't put it down. A must read for die hard Bertrice Small fans.
Rating: Summary: Choppy Review: I was surprised by the choppy prose in this book. It didn't flow well, making it difficult for me to read. I also found the detail of degenerate sexual activities unnecessary to clearly define the perverted nature of some characters. It detracted from the overall romance of the story. This was a romance, wasn't it? I felt no sympathy or connnection to any characters. This was my first Small book. If this is typical, it will be my last.
Rating: Summary: Not one of the best, but worth the read. Review: If you are a die-hard Betrice Small fan, this book probably won't impress you much. Without all the drama and details that we have come to expect, it's kinda wishy washy. Still though, it's a good story just not one of her best.
