Fans Understand ALL characters in ALL her books Review: A first time reader of M.H. might be tempted to put this book down because the beginning drags a bit, but believe me, it gets interesting very fast and there is nothing disappointing about this book. Great characters, handsome and decent and love scenes that will knock your socks off.
Marcus is every woman's dream man, not because he was handsome but because he loved Nesta so much.

Review: Boy, if the other reviewers are right and MH's other books are better than this- I can't wait. There was passion in it from the very beginning to end!Marcus of Anglesmore's holdings have been restored back to him by King Edward and to help hold on to Wales, Edward has arranged for Marcus to wed the youngest daughter of the Welsh chieftain Llygad. Marcus is beside himself, wanting to rebel- he hasn't even seen the girl much less spent time with her. He tries to see her only to be turned away at her door. So while brooding, he climbs into her private garden only to encouter a woman who he thinks is her. He finds her to be delightful, intelligent, beautiful... there is sudden attraction and many stolen kisses. Marcus is beside himself- what luck... Until he discovers that instead of encountering Genith, he actually met and fell for Nesta, the oldest daughter who is her father's heir, said to be King Edward's whore, and was married off to an elderly Scottish lord. And you thought you had problems! With both having agenda's of their own how are they going to find a solution to the problem that they now desire one another? Marcus is loyal to England. Nesta is dedicated to her country and it's cause. There's conflict for sure. Boy, you are in for a ride! The story is a great, excellent read. The main characters are both strong and intelligent. The passion is strong and I vote this one to be must read! It was my first MH book to read and I will definitely look for more.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great! Just How Old Was ADDIS though? Review: I loved this book, it had everything. A great, depthful plot, handsome characters, romantic love scenes, which M. H. seems to do better than anyone, and remembrances of other characters from other novels - like Addis de Valence, that gorgeous, sexy man from BY POSSESSION, which I consider the best of the lot!!! So I was curious about Addis' age here, since he had to be nearly 20 years older than Marcus and even more than that with DAVID, that other great guy. It was nice picturing Addis having grown older, and it was interesting getting to know more about David, having read his story already. In this one, Marcus was every woman's dream man - sensitive handsome, smart, and an all-around wonderful man.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Simply Outstanding... Review: I was intrigued from page one. This really turned out to be one of this author's best works, which is no small feat, considering how great her books are. Marcus was so darn sexy and smart and sensitive and handsome, and this story was extremely interesting, with an 'on the edge of your seat plot' that will not disappoint.
I just loved it.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: It dragged Review: I will keep this short and sweet. Overall this was a good read, but the story dragged on a bit. The descriptions and scenes all seemed to be padded with a little more than what was really needed. Some people might like this style of writing, but it took me a while to get through the book because I had to slog through so many flowery words. The plot is basically good and the story spans several different settings including a castle, the king's court, the battlefied, and of course the bedroom. Just be aware that if you buy this book, it is not a quick read.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: enjoyable fourteenth century romance Review: In 1340 King Edward orders Marcus of Anglesmore to marry a Welsh woman. In the garden one night, Marcus meets his fiancee by accident and they share kisses so that he now believes she is his reward. However, the next day Marcus learns that the woman who bewitched him in the garden is Nesta, sister to his betrothed Genith verch Llygad and Edward's whore. Nesta knows that Marcus is trouble as she finds herself quite attracted to him. She keeps reminding herself that her loyalties must be to the Welsh rebels though she is also fettered to the English King. However, as much as neither one wants to feel an attraction, Nesta nor Marcus can stop the passion turning into love that threatens their lives if they fall prey to it. Though Genith weakens the possibility of a historical triangle romance, fans of fourteenth century tales will fully relish this vividly colorful tale of love. The story line is filled with a taste for the era especially the impact of the monarchy on everyone else. Nesta is a lively individual straddling several worlds while Marcus knows what he wants, is willing to go out and get it, but has no idea how to succeed without alienating his beloved's family and His Highness. Fans of deep textured historical romances will believe that Madeline Hunter's latest novel STEALING HEAVEN lives up to its title. Harriet Klausner
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: THIS BOOK HAS ITS MOMENTS BUT Review: it cannot compare to this author's previous books. Nesta is a woman consumed by a need to fulfill her father's dying wish. He dreamed of freeing Wales from English rule but was unable to accomplish this before he died so he asked his daughter to do so. Nesta's sister Genith has been betrothed by King Edward to an english lord, Marcus of Anglesmore, in an effort to calm the tensions in the region. The only problem is that Marcus doesn't want Genith but her sister Nesta whom he suspects of treason which is bad enough, but worse still is that she's also rumored to be the King's mistress. This book, had it been written by any other author would have been an excellent read. However, having been written by this outstanding, virtually incomparable author it is merely good. In her previous books she seamlessly blended rich history with sensual, heart-stopping romance. With this book the history is sparse and not quite as interesting to read. Also the whole part about Nesta and the King is ambiguous at best and there really wasn't a happy resolution to that. I think the biggest problem I had with this book was the heroine Nesta and her treatment of Marcus. I thought she came across as a shrew and her refusal to accept what was between them lasted almost to the last page which I found really annoying. This was purely personal taste though and wasn't taken into account when I rated this book. In short I recommend this book to both fans of Hunter and to those who are new to her. Although to new readers I would strongly suggest to start with her earlier works which are simply brilliant. Recommended :)
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Perfect... Review: Marcus & Nesta truly loved one another; he would have given her the world if need be. I loved the way he wanted to protect her because he did it so sweetly; a warrior who can be sweet is perfect. The love scenes were wonderful, too. Take the one with the pillow ...mercy...that was great! Only Madeline Hunter can write unique and daring love scenes properly.
I just loved this story; all the intrigue and danger was realistic and well done.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Marcus-the absolute best hero! Review: Marcus started out a rather subtle hero, and all that subtleness turned into a sexy, decent, caring, and handsome gentleman. The way he protected Nesta just proved how much in love he was with her. Not just that he protected her, but the way he did it, in his subtle manner, I thought was sweet.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I Loved It! Review: Marcus was the best! He didn't seem to care that Nesta was "damaged goods," he only knew that he loved her and would do anything for her - which he did. The fact that she used to be the king's woman (short-lived though it was) and had a reputation to boot, didn't bother Marcus. But really, it' not like he didn't have a past as well....
