Rating: Summary: The second best book i have ever read! Review: i loved it! You all have to remember this was at the time of the nepolean wars where to have sex with EVERYONE was not uncommen. Young rich men spent most of there young lives like this. This book was the best that i have read of Pure Sin, Taboo (which is third!), A Touch of Sin and Sweet love survive, And i really recomend it! It was the first of her book that i read and made a good impression. I thought that all the sex was unique to this book but i must say that they are all like this, so if you don't like sex within 20 pages of the book don't read it (but i highly suggest that u do!) if you want a book that is really good read, Lion's Angle By Lybbe Sydds. It's out of print but you can get it from Amazon books. Dayna
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I have read. Review: I loved this book because it had alot of sex in it. It was a fascinating read and I can't wait to read her other books. The story line was good too. It fully kept my interest all the way through. Loved it.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely her best book, one I will read again and again!!! Review: I loved this book! I could not put it down! I read it in 2 days and I am a mother of 3 young children. This book rekindled the passion my husband and I once shared! I loved Beau and Serena and the passion that they had for one another. Susan Johnson with her descriptive details made you feel like you were there experencing the excitement yourself. Please write a sequel to this wonderful book and write again soon! I can't wait to read another Susan Johnson book. I am definately hooked and a huge fan!
Rating: Summary: Wicked in Wisconsin Review: I purchase novels by the look of the cover - and what a cover this was!! This book was a nice change from the typical run/chase scenario that is typical of romance novels. I will be reading more Susan Johnson books in the future.
Rating: Summary: Great Sexy Read! Review: I think the only problem I had with this story was the age of Beau - I think for him to have that much sexual history and still that much desire for variety it is unrealistic to expect that he would really be faithful at 22 years of age to anyone. Most of the books about such rakes are usually about those in their late 20's at least. Even Beau's father Sinjin was 30 when he finally gave in to one woman. So, having said that I still enjoyed the story of Beau and Serena and while not quite as compelling as Sinjin's and Chelsea's, in Sinful it still is a worthy read for all Susan Johnson lovers. I hope at some point Susan writes a story about Beau's sisters and their dealings with men and their sexual liaisons - it would be interesting seeing Sinjin and Beau deal with daughters and sisters and libertines, as they were!!!
Rating: Summary: Historical, yes. Romance, no. Review: In a word, disappointing. This was the first book by Ms. Johnson that I have read and it will most certainly be the last. The plot was no more than an excuse to string together a series of sexual encounters. While the attempt is to be erotic, the result is simply crude. Briefly, our "heroine", who is running away from her position as a governess to avoid the unwanted affections of her employer's son, stows away on a ship belonging to Beau St. Jules, well known rake and all around scoundrel. They fall immediately into bed, where they spend most of the rest of the novel. There is no character development, and I simply can't comprehend what they see in each other -- I found both Serena and Beau to be rather unlikeable. I rarely consider a book to be a waste of time or money, but this one certainly was both.
Rating: Summary: HOT sex, but not much else... Review: In typical Johson fashion, the pages fairly burn before you can read them; despite the intense, trademark sex scenes that Johnson writes so well(and with so little inhibition! :^) )this book falls flat. As with several of her more recent publications, the story seems to be more a string of encounters with not much else to hold it together. I really didn't feel much of a relationship ever got started between hero and heroine(they were too busy groaning and gasping to talk for long enough to get to know each other). The best part of the entire book was a glimpse into the lives of Beau's parents that contained emotional impact enough to carry the book if they'd had another scene. Bring back the days of FORBIDDEN, GOLDEN PARADISE, BLAZE, and SINFUL, where there was more to the protagonists' relationship than what went on between the sheets!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Hot and steamy! Review: Serena Blythe, a beautifully put together young lady; a virgin, a blonde and beauty, an intelligent, well-rounded individual encounters a lover much different from her. I guess opposites do attract. "Wicked" somehow allows one to relate to their very first time..., it also shows the endless possibilties of the power of love. The intriguing Beau St. Jules; the Earl of Rocheport, the hunk that swore would he never marry, would never dance, would never entertain a female on a voyage with him...has broken all his rules for this delighful young female that has captured his heart. The sex is definitely steamy and explicit. Susan Johnson allows its readers to put themselves into the character's shoes and feel their pain, their sensations, their love, their emotions...an exquisite writing!
Rating: Summary: A great read - definitely hotter than others I've read! Review: Susan Johnson creates Serena and Beau almost as charicatures of the romance novel genre. An inexperienced, idealistic, beautiful woman - a hard, egnigmatic, incredibly virile man. (The cover is GREAT, by the way.) Although the story line doesn't contain as many twists, turns, or subplots as others I've read, it certainly makes a thorough exploration of the character's thoughts, sexual discoveries and passionate intrigues. It was a fantastical change from the standard romance novel - definitely steaming - and surely worth the whole 2 days it took me to read it. (Sorry, couldn't put it down.) Because of this book, and because of other rave reviews I have read on Susan Johnson, I am tracking down everything else she has written! I think her books will make this impending winter weather very bearable!
Rating: Summary: Steamy, Sexy and Susan Johnson at her Best!! Review: Susan Johnson knows how to write a romance that goes beyond the boring, predictable mushy stuff. Beau and Serena don't need anything but their own hot love play and banter to keep the story line going. Beau is the "bad boy" that we all would love to win over, and Serena does it with style and pride. I have yet to find an author who can write as well as Ms. Johnson - and I consider myself picky, since I have a bachelor's degree in English literature and a Master's degree in psychology.
