It is a lovely book filled with warm characters you won't easily forget. This book kept me reading well through the night. I just couldn't put it down!Hayley is a heroine to absolutely fall in love with. She is independent, warm, caring and compassionate. Stephen, our to die for hero, is the sort of man you just want to spend the rest of your life with! The secondary characters will steal a place in your heart and make you wish they really do exist. Red Roses Mean Love is truly romance at it's best. No complicated big misunderstanding, just a delightful book filled with lots of wonderful moments, characters that seem to step out of the book and romance that will make your toes curl from pleasure. Well written with lots of wit, Jacquie D'Alessandro's debut novel is truly marvelous!
Rating: Summary: wonderful! Review: great book, kept me interested the entire time!
Rating: Summary: i LOVED it! Review: Red Roses Mean Love was such a gorgeous story! I enjoyed it sooooooo much that I haven't stopped reading it! Every so often, before I go to sleep, I would read my favorite parts in the novel again and again. Parts in the novel that I love the most are: when Hayley shaves Stephen after he awakens from his coma; Because of Hayley's gentle and nurturing nature, she doesn't live by any conventions and Stephen, who is not at all used to such gentleness is shocked at Hayley's offer of helping him shave. Another part that I loved, is when Callie, Hayley's youngest sister around six years old, wakes Stephen up in the middle of the night to tell him that her doll had an 'accident'. Stephen ends up helping little Callie wash the doll and sew the doll's arms back on. Hayley Albright lives in a huge family with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She, being the eldest, with her parents dead, becomes a mother to all her siblings. She loves her brothers and sisters so much, that she would go by and do anything for them. She comes across Lord Stephen Barrett's unconcious body lying on the ground on her way home from town. She ends up saving his life, and he spends time under Hayley's roof and her care. From Hayley, Stephen learns about love, caring, something he never knew growing up in a very cyncial 'ton' society and family. Eventually, Stephen must return to his real life, and take his place back in society. From the beginning he lied to Hayley about his true identity. Before Stephen leaves, Hayley tells him that she's in love with him, and it makes Stephen 'surprise' departure very difficult for Hayley and for Stephen as well. He soon realizes how much he misses her. Read the novel, find out what happens, the ending is perfect and sweet!
Rating: Summary: Okay Read Review: I feel like reading this was not a waste of time, but it certainly won't be on any of my "all-time" lists. Ms. D'Alessandro has created a story with interesting characters, and good interaction, but there were a few specific things that bothered me as I read - first, I got really tired of the "Popple-something. Indeed"s A few times and I got it, but over and over and over, and it wasn't fun any more. Also, their having "cookies" at the tea parties. Strikes me that they would have had "biscuits" instead.
Rating: Summary: Top Drawer Romance! Review: Red Roses Mean Love delivers what every romance reader wants: a spirited love story filled with characters so rich, they live beyond the final page. Jacquie d'Alessandro, in this debut novel, has bested many romance veterans with her witty characters, vivid descriptions, and laugh-out-loud scenes. Like real women,Hayley is passionate about more than just a man. She adores her family, her vocation, even the scraggly mongrels desparately in need of a bath. Stephen Barrett doesn't stand a chance--and he's all the better for it! Home life is hilarious and the love scenes are sensual and honest. A delightful read that offers the very best of romantic fiction. I can't wait for the next book!
Rating: Summary: Romance at it's best! Review: Red Roses Means Love is not your typical romance. If you like a heroine who can think for herself, take care of herself as well as a family and even rescue her future love, you will enjoy this book! Stereotypes are elimanted. Crusty sailors help run the house, gentlemen enjoy children's tea parties, and the heroine writes tales of adventure on the high seas. If you are tired of the same old storyline you will be delighted to find Red Roses Mean Love is a book that you won't be able to put down.
Rating: Summary: Loved this book! Review: I devour books, especially historicals. Most are read and forgotten, but this one stayed with me for days. The family characters were interesting and lovable. Haley and Stephen are a good foil for each other...Stephen growing up with all the trappings of a privileged life but so unhappy, and Haley having to struggle to support a big extended family but in a house full of love. What a nice change from the usual love-hate relationship, perfect heroine, domineering male...BUY THIS BOOK IF YOU LIKE MANY PLEASURE-FILLED HOURS
Rating: Summary: THE BEST! Review: This is one of the best romances I've read in years! The comedy, family bonding, and romance all wound together superbly. The heroine is charming and intelligent, and her hero is sexy and matches her to perfection. Don't miss this book!
Rating: Summary: The book was okay Review: Overall the book was just okay. It could have been so much better. As it is it's just okay. The tea parties were my favorite! It's so cute! I think the author could have done a better job towards the end of the book after he was revealed. If you just want to read a book, this one's okay. But if you're looking for something special I'd look somewhere else.
Rating: Summary: ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! Review: I can't say enough about this book with its' beautiful and different story line. I fell in love with Hayley's 2 "servants", her dear sweet Aunt and even the "Hellhounds". What a delightful book and I found the meanings to the flowers so interesting I have kept them. No depressing love, hate relationship. Thank you so much Jacquie and look forward to more books like this. You certainly have a lot of fans like me too.
