Rating: Summary: A fun book Review: Austin Randolph Jamison, is a likeable character, and is a very troubled Duke. But the real gem of the book is the American blue stocking he falls in love with. This book was a fun read and definately in the vein of Julia Quinn and Christina Dodd and such authors. I especially liked the addition of the physic powers of the lady. What kept me from giving it a 5 star? Well... I can't pin it down exactly. There are just some books which stand out among others and while this was a great book, it just didn't jump out and shout "OUTSTANDING". Still definately worth a read if you like the regency period.
Rating: Summary: Humor and Warmth Makes This A Wonderful Read! Review: Austin Randolph Jamison, Ninth Duke of Bradford meets the refreshing Elizabeth Matthews, an American bluestocking with psychic abilities. Elizabeth is a warm and intelligent character whose amusing characters lightens up Ms. D'Alessandro some what serious story. Austin believes his brother to have died a traitor's death at Waterloo. Soon after he begins receiving blackmail notes threatening to expose his brother's disgrace. However, Elizabeth, with her special visions, insists he is still alive. At a house party at the Duke of Bradford's country residence these two unlikely characters meet. Elizabeth is in the process of rescuing a kitten in the bushes, her skirts and hair askew when the two first meet. When Austin finds she is not intrigued with his title or money he becomes intrigued. Elizabeth warns him of danger and insists he does not ride out alone. When the Duke ignores her warnings and Elizabeth attempts to rescue him, a compromising situation ensues which leads to their "whirlwind wedding". This story is full of humor and warmth and is a wonderful read. Both characters, in particular Elizabeth, leap from the pages and are original and sweet. This is a wonderful story not to be missed!
Rating: Summary: The Whirlwind Wedding Review: Austin, Ninth Duke of Bradford is hiding a family secret; he is being blackmailed about his dead brother. Elizabeth Matthews, an American, whose secret ability to see visions, is determined to help Austin at any cost. Even her life! I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and will be looking forward to more of Jacquie D'Alessandro's books. This was the first one I had read of her, and it was in my favorite Regency time period!! Rating: Summary: Wonderful humor along with the passion Review: Elizabeth Matthews is from America, now living with her aunt. They are visiting Bradford Hall, invitation from the Dowager Duchess. It is at the Bradford Ball that she meets Austin Randolph Jamison, Duke of Bradford, while retrieving a kitten out of a tree in the garden to safety. It is during this time that Elizabeth reveals to Austin her vision of his thought to be dead brother William is alive but injured. Austin is alarmed and suspicious of Elizabeth for it is just recent that Austin has received blackmail information on William that will disgrace the whole family along with William. Questioning her vision and suspisious of her possibly being involved in the blackmail-Austin is determined to learn more of Elizabeth. But as he spends more time with her, he learns of her innocence, warmth, and generosity. Something happens and Elizabeth saves Austin's life resulting in their being found out in compromising position-to save face Austin is to marry her in a "whirlwind wedding". It is to be a marriage for looks only ! ? But things don't go as planned. There is wonderful humor all throughout the story and it is full of warm. Some of the suspense is figured out before time - but overall a good story. My first book to read of JA's and I look forward to more. A recommended read for sure.
Rating: Summary: Good Regancy with a paranormal twist Review: I bought this book not really expecting very much and was very pleasantly surprise. The heroine is delightful and charming and the hero is great (somewhat dark, however, sensitive without being wimpy). It was great the way Ms D'Alessandro weaved in the paranormal element into the storyline (enhancing the story), unlike many other Regancy books I have read which really don't blend the paranormal element very well into the storyline. The secondary characters are also very entertaining. I hope there's a sequence. I would like to read Robert's story.
Rating: Summary: Funny and romantic Review: I enjoyed this book, especially the humor. I liked the English vs. American "definitions" that the main characters used. The romance was touching, the characters well thought out and I too hope for a sequel!
Rating: Summary: A keeper from the start! Review: I fell in love with this book from begining to end. Jacquie D'Alessandro has produced another winner. She is a marvelous talent in the romance genre and I cannot wait to till the next one, write faster Jacquie!
Rating: Summary: READ! READ! READ! Review: I finished this book in record time and thorougly enjoyed it. The American heroine, Elizabeth, is refreshing, honest, socially awkward, and likeable. She senses other's thoughts and emotions and also has visions. The hero, Austin, Duke of Bradford, is a strong hero who makes it incredibly easy to see why the heroine falls in love with him. He is sensitive, caring, loyal, and sexy. Austin harbors a secret that he must keep to protect his family and their name but this leaves him with feelings of guilt. Elizabeth senses his private pain and is determined to do all in her power to help him overcome his troubles. He starts off doubtful of Elizabeth's visions and decides to "keep an eye" on her to see if she is trustworthy. Although even he wonders if his diligent vigilance is due more to his attraction to Elizabeth than anything else. Austin finds Elizabeth is indeed innocent of any scheming and when circumstances find them together all night he marries her within days and apparently without a qualm. They are blissfully married for a while until Elizabeth has a vision which scares her into pushing Austin away. Her reasons are for preventing Austin unbearable pain should her vision come true. It's a wonderfully entertaining story with some incredibly humorous parts. I laughed aloud at some parts, no doubt you will to! I finished this book with a warm, fuzzy feeling inside and a smile on my face.
Rating: Summary: Loved it!!:):) Review: I have read my share of Romance novels and I think this one would have to be one of my favorites! Part of the reason why I loved it so much was b/c Elizabeth and Austin were already in love when they married, although neither one was ready to say so. They were not cruel or hurtful to oneanother and infact some of the most romantic moments was when they were just talking and getting to know one another. This book i believe is what Romance novels are made of! I am always looking for more like this one, and i believe that Jaquie D'Alessandro is going to be on my must-buy list!! I strong suggest you check this book out!! :)
Rating: Summary: Good read Review: I just discovered this author and was very pleased. This was a good read from beginning to end. The storyline was not complicated or wishy washy. The lust level was good.
