Rating: Summary: Not a Day Goes By Review: I enjoyed this latest by Harris to the nth degree. There is a group of us who share his books and everyone can't wait for the next one to come out. I see there is one due out in December.... I am a hetersexual woman, as are all of the friends I share Harris's novel with, and none of us feel that way. We feel like we know the characters personally. and cannot wait for the next book to come out. All of us anxiously await what Mr. Harris is going to do with Basil.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Read Review: Once again E. has out done himself. This book was definately a page turner. His characters are so real I love the creativity of Yancey, Ava, Basil, & Windsor. Each character comes to life as you read from the pages. I know there has to be a sequel to this because I don't think Basil can just walk way with out being vandictive himself. Leaving Yancey hanging was good but we want more perhaps the sequel will give us just what we want. Keep them coming E. Lynn Harris. You do an excellent job and nobody can do it any better than you.
Rating: Summary: Misogynistic trash Review: This was the first book I ever read by E. Lynn Harris, and it is clear to me that he hates women and promotes "players". The book was truly distasteful and unfortunate. This will be the last book I read from him.
Rating: Summary: Fast-paced, enjoyable read! Review: Another great book I enjoyed by Mr. Harris. Though it took a couple hundred pages before the action took off, it actually kept me interested and turning pages. However, I would've liked a bit more detail of how Yancey handled Basil's calling off the wedding. A sequel is definitely needed for this novel.Nevertheless, the story was excellent and packed with memorable characters, especially the witchy Madam Ava Parker Middlebrooks. Keep up the good work Mr. Harris!
Rating: Summary: A good book just two short Review: A good book just two short, I like E. Lynn Harris but this book could have been longer, but the length doesn't take away from the story.
Rating: Summary: Absolute Fiction Perfection Review: I LOVE E. Lynn Harris, and I don't care if I had to go to the ends of the earth to get one of his books, I'd do it. This book was so good from start to finish that I must have read it twice in one day. He is a fabulous author, spinning a tale of deceit and confusion so well that you actually felt as if you were a part of the story yourself... When the next book comes out, not a day will go by that I won't own it! Keep up the great work.
Rating: Summary: Here Goes Another Good One from E. Lynn! Review: The fact that the book begins with the ending was a great move. Basil and Yancey were a good match in that both had pasts that would return to haunt them. I enjoyed the "scenery" and the way the author portrade the two main characters. For the first time, I was beginning to actually like Basil. He had really fallen in love! His greatest mistake was to pick a selfish, conniving woman. Part of this was because of his self hatred. The book was so interesting, the story was told so well I couldn't put the book down until I finished it! Another good one!
Rating: Summary: AS GOOD AS THE FIRST TWO, BETTER THAN THE LAST TWO!! Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I didn't want to put it down. I was disappointed in Mr. Harris' last two books, but this one has made of for those. Yancey got exactly what she deserved. I usually don't like Braxton's character, but he was o.k. this time. If you haven't read Mr. Harris' other books, you must read them (at least the last one), in order to follow the characters in this one. Good Job, Mr. Harris!! I'm looking forward to the sequel (because I know there is one)!!
Rating: Summary: Basil is intriguing Review: I started this book, not really knowing about E. Lynn Harris' prior books. My friend told me you have to Invisible Life first! Well I was on chapter six so, I continued. This was a great story, taking a complex issue like African American male sexuality put in the mix sports agents and past lovers the stuff just gets thicker. I now have to read all of ELH's books. This was great, well drawn characters who you could relate to. Although some of Yancey's choices were just too much. If anyone needed to be in therapy it was Ava.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed in this one. Review: I usually enjoy Harris' novels, but I was very disappointed in this one. I felt like I was reading a sex novel. That, combined with the shallowness of the main female character, made this book especially hard to read.
