Rating: Summary: Everything you wanted to know about Basil Review: John Henderson aka Basil have been the most interesting minor character that have made his way into every E. Lynn Harris (and that's five of them). He makes his full book debut. We get to see Basil in element and surprisingly fall in love and get his heart broken ( remember what's goes around comes around ). This book however leaves you hungry for more.
Rating: Summary: not his best but good Review: I have been a huge fan of Mr. Harris since "Just as I Am" and I have read all of Mr Harris' novels. This book is good but not up to the potential Mr Harris is known for. I would recommend reading his earlier novels first then read this book. Mr Harris I still I admire you.
Rating: Summary: Great Follow Up Review: I haven't finished this one yet but it is good. I just wish the chapters were a little bit longer. This is definitely a must buy from Mr. Harris. I have read all of his works and I will continue to support his writing. I really dig how he molds his characters daily lives with the modern events in modern times that have occurred with in the last 5-10 years. "Move on Black Man, Move on" AND DON'T stop bringing us your great works of literature.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: I read this book over the course of two days and E. Lynn Harris has managed to churn out yet another great novel! From beginning to end you never knew what to expect. Of course you try to guess, but nine times out of ten you would be wrong. I can't wait for the next E. Lynn masterpiece!
Rating: Summary: Keep 'em coming Review: Words can't express, but I'll try. I've read everything E. Lynn Harris has wrote and I loved them all. This one was not an expection. After reading Abide With Me I just could'nt wait for this novel to come out. From begining to end you're taken on an roller coaster ride. This book was such a page turner I finished it in one weekend. Keep up the good work baby!
Rating: Summary: "Is She for REAL" Review: This is a well thought out story of love, sex, hidden secrets, and betrayal. I really liked this book. E. Lynn Harris is probably the most popular black fiction writer today, and his novels blend romantic stories that deal with controversial issues such as race, AIDS, and bisexuality. In this story, Basil Henderson, a handsome ex-football player who has a history of loving both men and women, decides to marry Yancey, a fledging Broadway star. There marriage is only two months away and fate seems to be threatening their possible future together. Ava, Yancey's mother, who has always controlled her daughter, is about to meet her match in Basil. Is Yancey as bad as she seems, or is she really in love? Is she for real? Or is she just out for Basil's money? And how can Basil keep his other sexual life a secret from his future bride? Is he ready to be a give up his affairs with men. The story becomes more and more complicated as secrets are kept and more lies are told. What will really happen? I did care about these characters and how their lives were going to turn out. I think that's a good sign of a talented writer. I will be eager to see what this author has in store for us in his next book. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. It's got my recommendation!
Rating: Summary: CAPTIVATING, BUT CERTAIN LANGAUGE NOT NEEDED Review: This was the first book I have "read" by Mr. Harris. I will consider others, however I found the story entertaining, some of the language was offensive and too descriptive in a vulgar way. The reader of the audio book Rocky Carroll however was absolutely excellent and it was because of the reader that I did not stop the book after the first chapter.
Rating: Summary: NOT FOR EVERYONE! Review: I am so glad that a friend let me read this book and I didn't have to spend money on it. The story could have been better. The problem with me is I know there are bisexual men and women in this world, but my idea of a romance novel involves a man and a woman. The best written love scenes in this book involves two men. I know that Mr. Harris writes what he knows about,it shows in the differences of the love scenes. This book was not for me. I am sure that some people may like reading this and my hat goes off to you. This just proves that the old saying "different strokes for different folks" is very true. Check out the library before purchasing this book.
Rating: Summary: An Entertaining Piece of Literateure Review: As a part of the sequel of E. Lynn Harris books, it is no wonder it was very well written and humerous. This book is tiny and great to read any time. If you like his books, his latest novel is a magnificient compliment to his craft.
Rating: Summary: Not good at all Review: This was my first book by this author and I wasn't very impressed. It was too simple. This book did not have many turning points or climaxes to keep me interested. Don't waste your money.
