Summary: Warning: Once you start you can't stop!
Review: I can't recall a book getting as much publicity as this novel. This much anticipated book has been discussed in magazines, newspapers, websites, etc. Just as I was leaving for the bookstore, I caught Mr. Harris on the Bryant Gumbel morning program discussing "Not a Day Goes By". It is rare that I read a book in a day. I couldn't put the book down! I enjoyed reading the book so much that I planned to purchase the audio. You will not be disappointed!

Summary: Windsor was my favorite character
Review: I loved this book for several reasons. First - it goes beyond entertainment to promote the very clear values of the author. As a non-Christian, I could still relate to the values of compassion, honesty, generosity, letting go of old hurts and trusting to love. Although some of the editorial reviews suggested that Mr Harris is less than subtle at characterization, I thought Yancey's ambivalence about her abusive, even cruel mother, was very realistic. It is never easy to just break away from a parent even when she deliberately hurts you. I was inspired by Windsor's kindness and decency. At the end, the only thing I wasn't clear about was Mr Harris' stand toward material wealth. How important is it? The happiest characters didn't have much. Yet he savors the wine, food, furniture, and other luxuries he describes. Is it important that we all aspire to these things?

Summary: Not A day Goes By
Review: The book was great. E.Lynn Harris did a great job. The story makes you look at Basil in a different light and you really feel his pain. You learn alot about Basil and you hear from a lot of favorites in the book. I emailed everyone in my address book and suggested they read the book by the weekend. The book is right up there with the rest of his novels, it makes you want more. Yancey is still around causing chaos you will be surprised. I strongly advise that Not A Day goes by is on your list for books to read..Good Luck Mr. Harris, keep up the good work...

Summary: Easy read... interesting story.
Review: This was the first book by Harris that I have read. The title intrigued me. I had it finished in less than a day. Harris creates memorable characters that have screwed up relationships. This book definitely gives a good illustration of what marriage and relationships will be like in the 21st century.

Summary: Not a Day Goes BY..that I won't think about Y&B
Review: Yesterday I entered the mall at the wrong entrance. I decided to be optimistic and I said to myself, "I came in this entrance for a reson". As soon as I turned the corner I passed the bookstore where "Not a Day Goes By: was on display. Well, I just finished this book. It only took a few hours to read. My only regret is that it was so short...271 pages. I want Mr. Harris to write another book as soon as possible becasue I want to see what's going to happen with Yancey, Derrick and Madison. I know you're wondering who Derrick and Madison are. Well you'll have to read the book. This book was as good as all of the others. He focused on more of a heterosexual romance even though the homosexual content was present. I like the very beginning of this book. The author actually gave you the ending. You had to read the entire book to find out why things happened the way they did. He must have heard my prayers. Every book I have read, I start with the last 3 or 4 pages to see what is going to happen. I then get excited about finding out why. So all of you that are like me, this book is for you. I think the relationship with Yancey and her mother are so typical even though we may not want to admit it. My girlfriend who's looking for a new love can't stand the fact that the author allows us to see that no matter how well a man is hung, no matter how tough he is on the grid iron, he can still be attratced to other men. This bokk just gives you one more secret on figuring out if your man is straight or curved. Kudos to the author. Happy Reading.

Summary: Ah! .....at last!
Review: 'Not a day goes by' that I do not wait for another book from this man! ....As always, I bought it the day it was released and read it that night! ..While I was never a Yancey fan, I have always been a fan of Basil. There's just so much lurking behind that rugged exterior of his, and this novel presents a 'softer' side of him. It's so refreshing! I love the insight this book gives you on both main characters (as well as the update it gives you on a few others from his previous works). My only regret is that the book is so much shorter than the others. But I eagerly await the next installment...

Summary: E. Lynn Harris has done it again
Review: Once again, Lynn has wrote the #1 novel of the year. This one is the best of all. I hope he will continue writing about Basil, Zurich, and Raymond. I can't wait for his next novel.

Summary: Harris does it again!
Review: Just when you thought Basil and Yancy had found something special their past returns revealing a background of deceit and cruelty that would surely crush any relationship. I particularly applaud Harris for focusing on the dynamics of relationships in such a manner as to minimize the sexuality of the characters. This is perfectly denoted when Zurich shares with Basil that "it doesn't matter to God or anyone who I love. It's just important that I love . . .". Harris' commitment to the growth of his readership is indicative in how he unravels the cycle of inept parenting by Yancy, her mother and grandmother, revealing three generations of women who, because they never knew each other's love, would never know the love of anyone else.

I was impressed when Basil appeared to take the high road with his journal to Yancy, but we only know the first paragraph of what's inside the journal. Did Basil lay it down, heart and soul? Did he pass on the knowledge and goodwill symbolized by the ring he received from Zurich, or has the old Basil really returned; hardened that much more by his experience with Yancy. Guess we'll have to wait until Harris reveals more of his lively and complicated characters in his next novel. Until then, mothers and fathers tell your sons and daughters to beware of the Basils and Yancys lurking out there.
