Summary: Not a cliche goes by
Review: I enjoy Mr. Harris works and will go out of my way and budget to purchase his books. I found this one full of cliches and soap operatic. You knew what was going to happen to the characters at the beginning of the book, and the end was real weak. The male character didn't learn anything from his experience and the reader dosen't either. The female character whom we meet in the previous book was basically a throw away character and something for the male (Bi)character to play againgst as opposed to another stronger male character. Basil has been in all the books and needs to grow up soon. It hardly even dealt with The last books revelations and insights of Basil. It kind of threw itself out of series. Where were the journal writing group?Sometimes One does not need to know what cologone a person has on. It does not help the plot, it's already established the character's have throw away income. Overall It was something to read but not my favoraite in this series of books

Summary: Love/Hate Relationship at it's Finest!
Review: E. Lynn Harris is not only an amazing author, he's my favorite! I have read all of his books and I'm very much accustomed to the feeling of always wanting more. This book is a reiteration of the brilliant writing style of E. Lynn Harris. You will be captivated from beginning to end. I found myself engrossed into the lives of Basil and Yancey. Basil is true to form and Yancey, well I just loved hating her and then feeling sorry for her after realizing how difficult her life had been.

All in all, this book was a joy to read. It will allow you to esape into a world of greed, power & ambition! Then it will take you back to the human side of the one thing everyone wants to experience and that's love!

Summary: Good But Could Have Been BETTER!
Review: As a supporter and fan of E. Lynn Harris, I looked forward to reading his latest release. Like many of the reviewers, I too was able to read it in one setting. I Njoyed most of the "trip" through the pages, and liked the fact that the author weaved in personalities of other characters from past books, thus making the lives of Basil and Yancy more real as recollections of past situations arose. Short chapters are one thing, but these were choppy! Of all the author's novels, Not a Day...is NOT one of his best, which is a bit disappointing, because up until this point, his writing has always gotten better. One thing for sure, there are enuf hints in this work that leads the reader to believe that there is MORE TO COME. Maybe Basil's "lane changing" will cause him to sho nuff wreck!!!??? Not A Day Goes By is the selection for our September book club discussion. I can hardly wait to hear what my fellow reading sistah's have to say...

Summary: Will Congratulations be in Order ?
Review: Well is the secret out about Basil ? What happens to cause Basil to call off the wedding ? Not a Day goes by provides two interesting years between Yancey and Basil's life and the love they shared ! Could it have been the secret Yancy has hide from Basil ? Was it something Yancey's mother, Ava found out about Basil and promise to blackmail him with ?

After Basil overheard Derrick and Yancey's conversation . Not a Day goes by with Basil contemplating his decision. These answers can certainly be found in the reading of this novel . He even has a surprise for Ava should she try to destroy his chances of getting to the Hall of Fame !

What a scary thought of Basil roamin and switching lanes again !

Summary: Something to hold you 'til the next one comes out
Review: I really enjoyed reading this novel! It *was* short and didn't involve an intricate a web of characters as Harris is know for, but it kept my attention. Besides the switching of point-of-view (Basil narrates, then Yancey, then it's third-person,) I had no major quips with the novel. I enjoyed the addition of Ava to the novel, and I hope to see her again, should Mr. Harris decide to continue to build on this series. As a good sign, both the two main characters did manage to gain my sympathy by the end of the novel. Windsor was a colorful addition in which the author displayed his superb characterization skills. Everything was totally believable, even though the public rarely gets in the inner working of a Black celeb's lives. A good, quick read!

Summary: E.Lynn Descends into the World of Gimmicky Trash Novels
Review: I give props to any African-American brotha out there who is working hard to have their work published. However, I can't be supportive solely for the fact that they are a brotha. Brotha Harris, I must say that for some reason I am continuously compelled to read your work. I think more so now than before, it is because I am hoping that you will have redeemed yourself from the disappoint I felt in reading your prior work. This has not been the case, especially with NOT A DAY GOES BY. Once again I came away dissappointed. I should have known what was to come when I saw the author's name appear larger than the actually title on the cover. To me that said a lot about what was more important. Then, the content of the story itself proved to be nothing more than overly done soap opera dramatics comparable to that of Dynasty, Knots Landing and Falcon Crest. One does not have to read the great works of literature of other writers to see where you found your inspiration. All one has to do is turn on the TV, watch the morning soaps, maybe even the Jerry Springer Show, and know that this plot line might appear in some form or another in an upcomming book. Also, what's with the blatant reference to every major trendy food/restaurant, clothing item/store, travel destination, movie, song, and hang out spot. Looks like someone got some endorsements of some kind for the shameless plugs. I just wish you would really...REALLY..take the time necessary to flesh out the characters and their inner struggles more. I really wish you would develop relationships more. Give us a substantive plot to wrestle with. Allow me to suggest a great book for a reference for you to consider...your FIRST one! Kick all the hidden microphones in the telephones, scheming mothers who send detectives to get secret files on their future sons-in-law, and dare I mention the Ex-Lax thing from the last novel (how old is that).....anyway, kick it to the curb. The one positive thing to be said is that it was an easy read, but it doesn't make me want to go back and re-trace my steps any time soon.

Summary: AWESOME, ANOTHER BESTSELLER! E.Lynn Harris is BRILLANT
Review: E.Lynn Harris has done it yet again and he brought Basil Henderson along for the ride. I expected nothing less from this awesome, talented and powerful author. I couldn't wait to get my copy and had it reserved for weeks before it's release date. The story pulls you in to an unforgettable and shocking tale of your past coming back to haunt you and it will definately keep you glued to your sit. From beginning to end this was a HOT book to read. Our book club is eagerly waiting to discuss this book as we do all of his others. This book deserves a plus 5 star rating and will be on the bestseller list for weeks and months to come. You won't be disappointed with this book and if you're not an E.Lynn Harris fan already, there must to something wrong with you. You'll never forget him, his style or the characters he's created that, you'll come to love and hate. BRAVO! BRAVO! to E.Lynn. I'm looking to the memoirs book and I know there's a part II to this awesome and fierce book. Yancey and Ava are screaming it now. Plus, they need the tables turned on them and the screws tighten just a bit more. Hope you're listening to them.

Summary: E. Lynn is a literary GENIUS!
Review: Hat's off to Not a Day Goes By. I lost an entire night's sleep reading this latest novel about the scheming Basil. Boy do he and Yancy Harrington Braxton deserve each other. Harris develops his characters in a way that you almost think you know them. Just when I think the man has outdone himself, here he comes again with can only be described as an amazing novel. He just keeps topping himself.

I recommend to EVERYONE who has yet to read any of his books, to start at the beginning with "Invisible Life" and read them in order. However, I must warn you, you'll have to have some stamina because I'm sure you'll lose sleep. I couldn't put ANY of his books down once I started reading them.

Keep up the good work E. Lynn. I know this is kind of demanding, but could you consider not ever going on hiatus and just write non-stop (ha ha). Your work is the BOMB!

Summary: Great book, great author, love both.
Review: Once again Mr. Harris wrote a winner. This book make you remember the old and love or hate the new characters. Basil is a interesting guy and it is always fun to read about him. Now my girl Yancey got just what she needed. I can't hardly wait for the next book. Happy writing Mr. Harris.

Summary: "On the money, once again!"
Review: Again, E. Lynn Harris has written a wonderful story about the complexity of relationships. If you enjoyed the previous novels written by Harris, you will enjoy this one. Not very many authors are able to capture your interest the way Harris does, especially using previously explored characters. My hat is off to Harris and I eagerly await his next novel.
