Rating: Summary: Like a silly soap opera Review: I found it difficult to care about those two (Yancey and Basil). The only ones I could have any sympathy for were Windsor and perhaps Basil's sister, Campbell and Cade. After forcing myself to finish the book (it was a selection for my book club) I was starting to think something might be resolved for those two and that Yancey might grow up a bit and so might Basil, but alas, I was deprived of even that. Unfortunately, I feel that reading that book was an abysmal waste of time.
Rating: Summary: Never Read All Series! LOST? I think NOT - - Superb Writing! Review: I've read Invisible Life, and Just As I am by E. Lynn Harris. Undoubtedly, his storytelling is as powerful and riveting as real life itself. Although I haven't been committed to his series, I found myself right at home with his novel "Not a Day Goes By". I read the book in five hours! It was like an addiction that came about suddenly. I picked up the book and I couldn't put it down. Mr. Harris definitely earns my full attention with his debut of "Not a Day Goes By". He was very detailed and I didn't feel lost at all by his masterful storytelling!
Rating: Summary: For the Most Undemanding Reader Only. Review: 271 pages of pure drivel. Every second sentence is a cliché and the rest, well ......on second thought, every sentence is clichéd. The characters seem to have come from the back of a cereal box and the plot would embarrass Mills & Boon. "Not A Day Goes By" would be the perfect vehicle for a John Waters film.
Rating: Summary: Beyond My Expectations!!! Review: I must confess my doubts for another "bestseller" novel because I honestly didn't feel that way prior to reading it. HOWEVER, I am proud to say NOT A DAY GOES BY surpassed all expectations! I started and finished all in a matter of 5 or 6 hours (I started at work and it was hard to put down). Thank you Mr. Harris for a novel that grips from the outset and holds you throughout, while in deep suspense, for its entirety. The world of Basil and Yancey creates a scenario easy to imagine when two individuals collide with too many issues and too many secrets. I'm waiting a few days before reading it again, because I really have too. If one gets better with each novel, then I patiently await your next "bestseller". Great job and stayed blessed my brother in Christ!!!
Rating: Summary: You Go Boy!!! Review: Once again E. Lynn Harris has outdone himself. I am an E. Lynn Harris fan and he knows just what to write and how to keep you interested in wanting more. Basil and Yancey have always been wonderful characters. But my favorite will always be Raymond. Once again E. Lynn Harris, keep up the good work. A job well done.
Rating: Summary: KEEP THEM COMING Review: E. Lynn Harris has done a great job with this one. I literally could not put this one down. It wasn't what I expected at all but I was impressed with the way things went for the characters. I felt for the main character and all the up and downs that went with it, but this only leaves it open for him to do more in the future. Thanks again E. Lynn Harris
Rating: Summary: Not literature, but fun Review: I only read one previous E. Lynn Harris book (can't remember which one) and enjoyed it. This seemed a lot less serious than the other one. It reminded me of Sidney Sheldon, only shorter. The bad guys went over the top toward the end, which seems to be the standard in this type of book (come on . . . attempted murder?) but it was fun, if predictable (how many of you knew what was coming next when Yancey asked her ex why his sister wouldn't continue taking care of the baby?) I was actually glad it wasn't too long, because I was determined to finish it quick so I could find out what happened!
Rating: Summary: Truth in Fiction... Powerful Message Review: Not A Day Goes by that men like John "Basil" Henderson, a fictional character that represents so many men out there who are as E. Lynn Harris puts it "roaming and switching lanes." E Lynn has written a series of books that are written in fiction but tell the truth about relationships, the good, the bad and the ugly. Readers who only read his books for entertainment and enjoyment without understanding the powerful message that E. Lynn is trying to relay will never get it until Basil shows up at their front door with their husband, wife, son or daughter. Think about it!! Anfra - Author/Poet/Speaker
