Summary: I've finally found my favourite type of novel!!!
Review: This book is my first ever Virginia Henley book. My mother has a whole collection of her books in one of her many book shelves and i was really intrigued by the main plot at the back of the book. i started reading it and i could not let it go until i have finished it. I started reading the rest of the collection and decided to put all of Ms. Henley's books on my own shelf. That is how strong this book's effects are on me. I LOVE IT and I LOVE HISTORICAL ROMANCE!!! reading this book lead me to finding my favourite type of book in the world. While reading her books, i learn not only of romance but also of the histories that are MOST intriguing. they are so intriguing that i wish i live in the world that Ms. Henley has managed to burry deep in my heart, my mind, and my soul. This is the break through for me... its a wonderful book but if ure disappointed in it...then i recommend for u to take A Year and A Day... or Desired.

Review: This is one of Virginia Henley's best books. It is up there with The Pirate and the Pagan. It is a story about the royal family's jewel, Eleanor, named after Eleanor of Aquitaine. When her husband dies in their bed while he was taking her virginity, Eleanor swears never to marry again, until Simon de Montfort sets his eyes on her-and swears that he'll tame the royal hellion, and make her love him.

Review: This is the first historical romance I had ever read and the first book of Virginia's. Great story line and characters. Hot, steamy romance and adventure and suspense make it an excellent book to read!

Review: This is the second book in the series that started with "The Falcon and the Flower." It was great to get to see what happened with Jasmine and Falcon, and I liked that their sons are major characters in this book.The main characters in this book captivated me. I came to care so much for Eleanor and Simon that I wished the book would never end (thank goodness for the next book in the trilogy "The Marriage Prize"). Eleanor's life started out a bit unsure, but as she grew up, she gained control of things, and eventually became a very powerful woman in her own right. The trait about Simon that I admired the most was his persistence. He never gave up on the things he wanted or believed in. This is a story full of tragedy, but it is countered and even outweighed by the joys. It is a book that will make you cry, cringe, get angry and eventually fall in love.

Review: This is the second book to the Plantagenet Trilogy. The first is FALCON AND THE FLOWER and the third is THE MARRIAGE PRIZE. This story is about Princess Eleanor Plantagenet, the King's "Precious Jewel". After King John died, his children King Henry III, Richard of Cornwall and Princess Eleanor were left alone to basically run England. Their mother Queen Isabella married another and moved on. This is the great love story of Princess Eleanor Plantagenet and the famous warlord Simon de Montfort, the Earl of Leicester. This true story of these two passionate people is told with such flair and sensuality that only Virginia Henley could tell. True the story is compressed to about three years, when in reality is was more like thirty. But she pulls it off with no problem. The sequel, and last book to this trilogy begins in the year 1253, this book ends in 1240. That is the reason for the dropping off at the end. The story continues into the next book, for all those complaining about the sudden abrupt ending. The characters from the first book make many appearances in this one, namely their son Sir Rickard de Burgh. He is appointed the Princess's gaurd. In the beginning of the story their is about 190 pages of story between Eleanor and her first husband, the Earl of Pembroke, William Marshal. He was much older than her and when she became a widow at the age of 17, she took a vow of chastity of perpetual widowhood. Simon first saw her and fall in love. He had to have her at any cost. The passionate love these two shared and the enemies and treachery they endured, is awe inspiring. Simon is breathtaking, a great warlord of his time, and Eleanor is beautiful and strong willed. She is a woman ahead of her time. This story will make you smile and feel like you are there with Simon and Eleanor. Henley has an uncanny knack of bringing the reader into her world. I could almost hear the swords clanking and the King shouting. This is an excellent read, don't miss it. I have read this many times, and still find myself enthralled everytime. Virginia Henley is an extrememly talented writer, she brings these people to life and shows you the sacrifices they made for their beloved country, when civil war was knocking at England's door. Simon was a great warlord and leader, I think you will enjoy this great 13th century love story in all it's glory. It's a keeper.
