Rating: Summary: Another Mayfair Square classic Review: A nice romance about a painter and a princess. The story is placed against the background of Mayfair Square in the first quarter of the 19 century. We have the standard 'princess oppressed by her station, in love with a commoner' story. Mayfair Square is also, apparently, the scene of more than one Stella Cameron novel. This is a story to read when you don't want to think too deeply and are looking for a feel-good read. The painter, Adam Chillworth, is in love with Princess Desiree, who returns his passion. But the princess' station in life and the fact that Adam has been cut off from his family means that there are obstacles to a union of marriage. Marriage is accomplished in order to resolve the Princess' problems, but opens the couple to further complications. Of course, this is a romance, so the suspense resides in HOW the obstacles are overcome, not in whether or not they ARE overcome. A nice bonbon!

Rating: Summary: Adam and Desiree with melt your heart! Review: About Adam is a wonderful story. When I started reading it, I kept saying to myself, poor, poor Adam. Adam Chillworth is a painter, a deep, brooding man who is in love with a woman that he can never have. Princess Desiree is a young woman who can never have the man she loves so very much. No worries, though. Just as there are forces trying to drive them apart, there are forces pushing them together. Adam is an honorable man, one who thinks to protect Desiree, if if from himself, as he feels he is not good enough for her. This is a story of drama, passion and intrigue, done in such a manner to keep the pages turning very quickly. Let's not forget about the humor! About Adam is the next in the Mayfair Square series. I'd say pick them all up, as you will not regret it. Robin Taylor
Rating: Summary: Boring and Not Worth It Review: After reading the other books in the Mayfair 7 series, I expected this book the be good and edge-gripping. It turned out to be incredible boring. The characters didn't have a set personality and came off as shallow. I thought it was kind of like a movie with bad actors, you couldn't bring the characters to life. There was very little plot. They got together near the beginning, so there was no suspense. The writing was very choppy and made little sense. I wanted to stop reading the book and just burn it. I was very disappointed with her work.
Rating: Summary: Boring!!! Review: I usually am determined to finish a book after I have paid good money for it, but I found this one such a waste of time I put it down half way through. The characters are unbelievable and for the most part boring. I wasn't in the least bit interested in how the two main characters ended up together - overwrought agonising over age, worth and position page after page after page! The last by this author for me.
Rating: Summary: Choppy, disconnected and only somewhat entertaining Review: I was a fan of the other Mayfair series, so I had expectations that this current book would be just as entertaining. Sad to say, however, it just was lackluster. The book is written in a very choppy way and everybody, even the characters we already knew, all just came across as shallow and not very well defined. I found myself often confused as to where exactly they were physically or what had happened and had to turn back a page or two to find the reference where someone had left a room or entered a room or similar things. It was just unfocused and disjointed. The story isn't horribly bad, but everything just seems trite and shallow. Sad to say, as I do like the other novels, but this one just isn't worth it.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing... lacked momentum Review: I've enjoyed Stella Cameron's other 7 Mayfair books, but this one didn't do it for me. I found it slow and unexciting, and never got into the characters. The characters didn't seem to develop in any way, and the plot twist didn't grab me. I almost never get rid of books from my favorite authors, but I sold this one as soon as I finished the book.
Rating: Summary: another delightful return to 7 Mayfair Square Review: In 1824, Princess Desiree of Mont Nuages returns to London after six months at home nursing a heartache. She loves artist Adam Chillworth, the hermit residing in the attic of 7 Mayfair Square over the objection of the resident ghost. Desiree knows Adam loves her too, but he is too honorable to court her because she believes that he feels he is beneath her social level. Desiree has returned to force her beloved to accept that they belong together forever. Adam knows nothing can get worse than seeing Desiree as he struggles not to kiss her but he soon learns the rudiments of Murphy's Law when his estranged family come to see him. While trying to establish a relationship with his sibling and ignore his parents, he soon has bigger concerns when someone abducts Desiree with the attacker warning her to stay way from Adam. The fifth Mayfair Regency romance will provide plenty of enjoyment to series fans on two levels: the love story between two repeat characters and the frustrations of Sir Spivey the ghost. Though the story line starts slow in terms of action, the audience sees deep inside the souls of the lead couple as Adam tries to elude the messages that his heart pumps to his head. The suspense surfaces in the latter half of the plot, but once the action begins it does not stop until Stella Cameron closes the door to another delightful return to 7 Mayfair Square.
