Rating: Summary: Puhleeze... Review: At first I didn't like the whole, "my uncle is my daddy theme!" And then the husband is, ironically and tragically, killed by his prized bull. I figured, maybe this is when Lavyrle first started writing, or maybe someone was giving her too much weird story lines? Well, whatever it was, I didn't expect this from LS.One thing I can say, however, is that the story gives you something to think about relationships, hardships, and the agony of wanting a child and coping with not having one. It was buried really deep, but if that was the message, then I got it!

Rating: Summary: Wonderful story with a predicatable ending. Review: I am one of Spencer's biggest fans. I have read almost every one of her books. I scour book stores looking for titles I don't own yet. She is one of the few authors I have a collection of novels by. This story is one filled with love, romance, sadness, joy, and happy endings. I loved reading of Mary and Aaron. I felt for them when I read of their unexpected love and the consequences of their weekend together. When Jonathan asked them to conceive his child, I was apalled, but understood his request. Unlike others, I didn't find Jonathan to be a repulsive character, but a driven man. He had goals and he knew how he needed to meet them. Unfortunately, he didn't have much talent for sensing others emotions and needs. I have read enough romance novels to know how this one would end. I could have predicted it from the beginning, but was still interested enough to finish the book in two days. Spencer always keeps me reading and weeping. Two things we love in a romance novelist. Her novels will be sorely missed by me.
Rating: Summary: Another LS winner Review: I could imagine this book based on a true life story that is treated with heartfelt sensitivity.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not a favorite !! Review: I did enjoy this book, but it wasn't my favorite LaVyrle Spencer book. Jonathon and his brother Aaron share their family farm in Minnesota. Mary and Jonathon are married but childless after 7 years of marriage. Jonathon suggests that his brother father his child, since he is unable to. Although the three of them have lived a happy life on the farm, this idea puts a strain on their relationship. When Jonathan leaves home for a few days to purchase a prize bull, the relationship between Mary and Aaron is ignited and the predictable happens. While at first I found this storyline rather appalling, it does become beliveable. My interest picked up and I read on eagerly to the conclusion. The story held my interest and I would recommend it to other readers. I particularly enjoy Spencers historical and prairie stories and most readers will not be disappointed in this book.

Rating: Summary: A little to convienient--plot and ending... Review: I have read all of Ms. Spencer's books...so much that I keep looking at titles hoping beyond hope that I've missed one or a new one has come out...this one is not one of her best (even though I've read it twice.) If only things worked that way in real life...ahhh...well, that's why its a romance novel. The solution to this plot line is a little too pat, even for the time period that its set in.
