Rating: Summary: A very engaging story Review: My favorite Kathleen Woodiwiss novel is Shanna, but this one is also very good. I haven't finished it yet, but I feel I can recommend it already. (I'm about halfway through.) Elise and Maxim are colorful characters and Fitch and Spence are hilarious! I like the way Woodiwiss writes, she lets you feel the scenery and the atmosphere of her stories. I think you'll like it!
Rating: Summary: fun, lively, filled with period details and adventure Review: Predictable romance, but still very fun to read and the author definitely transports you to the time and place. You could see the love affair coming a mile away, and you could see what happened with the kidnapping as soon as it occurred, but that's OK. It was still a fun read and the love scenes were captivating. I wish there was more domestic description about the care of the castle.
Rating: Summary: I am very selective in my reading material. I loved it. Review: The characters were warm and humorous. The story had a solid plot. And best of all it did not bother my conscience to read it. I refuse to read trashy books full of sex.
Rating: Summary: The BEST Romance Ever Written!!! Review: The first book I ever read by Kathleen Woodiwiss was Ashes. I thought I could never love a book more. I was wrong! Elise was a head strong woman and Maxim was an absolute cad! Their passion set the book on fire! I cried with the characters, laughed with them, and cried some more. Truly a magnificent book that I never tire of reading over and over again!!!!!
Rating: Summary: SO WORTHY MY LOVE is definitely NOT worthy! Review: This is the only truly bad romance I've read from Ms. Woodweiss. The exchanges were trite and stupid, and the attraction was somewhat lacking. in fact, i found the whole thing lacking. The heroine seems like a shrew,l vengeful and annoying. Then, all of a sudden, she softens completely to her abdctor and they marry. Their passionate exhanges were stupid and petty. The whole book was petty. The events were improabably. Sure, it seemed promising from the first twenty pages. Then it decended...
Rating: Summary: Humerous, entertaining and ammusing. Review: This was the first Katherine Woodiwiss that I read and I loved it. I was just bored and went into the garage and picked this up, expecting a raunchy and boring book, however I was pleasantly suprised! It was filled with wit and humor and was entertaining from the first page to the last.
Rating: Summary: I don't like Elise.. Review: Well.. She is not the best character for Woodiwiss' heroine. Witty, yes. Hot tempered, definettely. Stupid, yes. Spoilt, absolutely.I just think it would be better if Elise is all of the above but stupid. I can't find a man who would likely besotted to a woman with such a handfull character. Don't believe it in the least that any gentlemen could pass her as charming with situation she created in the story. Just read it through... It is very disturbing that although I like the story line I could hardly enjoy the main character. Hmmm
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Book! Review: What a great book. I had a hard time putting it down and yet didn't want it to end! The characters have many different facets to their personalities which keeps the interest of the reader. A great plot with many twists and turns. This was my first Kathleen Woodiwiss book, but definitely won't be my last.
Rating: Summary: Woodiwiss is akimbo!! Review: What an insult to one's intelligence to read such drivel! The author must have learned a new word "akimbo" just prior to writing this book, and tried to use it in every way she could, and as frequently as she could! Her overuse of this word was so annoying and distracting that it ruined what might have been an OK story!
Rating: Summary: Way Too Verbose Review: Woodiwiss has good basic plotlines, likeable characters, and a good moodsetting, but she is way too verbose. It really gets tedious after the first 400 pages of this 650+ page book. It seems like she is trying too hard to demonstrate her excellently fabulous, superfluously educated, bemusingly extensive vocabulary. Who wants to work that hard in their leisuretime? If the reader wants to find out what happens next, she has to sift through eight or more assininely superfluous, extremely bemusing, long descriptive paragraphs to get the the next word in each dialogue. Please. I found myself skipping entire paragraphs, and just reading the dialogue. Had a hard time finishing this one.
