Rating: Summary: One of her best books Review: I have been a fan for many years and have deeply loved all of her books. She is by far the best writer of our time. This book was one of my favorites. It had everything you can want in a book; humor, suspense, passion and everything in between. I especially loved the characters Fitch and Spence. They were absolutely hilarious. And, what can I say about Elise and Maxim. Simply said, they were both made for each other with thier firey tempers and determination for those they love. This is truly a must read book.
Rating: Summary: I've read this book so many times, I've lost count!!! Review: I love this book! It's one of my personal favorites that I have read over and over. It's a great story!! Enjoy!!
Rating: Summary: Great book, once Maxim arrived Review: I nearly put this book down because I got tired of waiting for Maxim to enter the story. With the exception of a brief appearance in the beginning, we don't see him again until page 148! His friend Nicholas was okay to lead off the story I guess, but did the author have to go on and on about this guy? I could have cared less about his boring relationship with Elise, because HE wasn't the hero, it was going nowhere and the reader knew it. A hundred or so pages of this was really getting on my nerves. This was the reason I couldn't give this book 5 stars. After that, the story was GREAT, one of the best love stories ever. So yes, it's well worth the irritation to get through the beginning. Maxim was one of the best heros ever. Handsome, witty, very masculine, and very respectful of Elise. The author did a great job of making us believe Maxim had a natural respect for women in general. It was subtle, but very well done. Take for example when Maxim finds Elise in a seedy tavern. Read what he says to her when they're leaving. Most heros would have berated the heroine mightily for being there. I think it was also very clear that Maxim and Elise were very much in love. She was great, witty, too, especially with Fitch and Spence. I don't usually like books where the hero starts out having lost all his riches, but Maxim was so great a character, I was able to overlook that. He and Elise are one of the best couples in romance!
Rating: Summary: INSOMNIACS- here's a cure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I never even finished the book. The pace was slow, the characters were shallow and the plot was obvious.Thank goodness this isn't the only Woodiwiss novel I've ever read or I would be sure not to read another.Of course, there are occasionally ones you don't like and this turned out to be one of mine.
Rating: Summary: best book I've read in years Review: I quit reading romance books for years but I am a Woodiwiss fan from way back, so I do read hers. I thought this was such a good book in contrast with her latest, whose characters lack charm and life. I couldn't even finish her last novel. She has lost the talent for breathing life into like in the good old her characters. They are just words on a page.
Rating: Summary: So worthy to read agian. Review: I smile every time I think of Elise. Growing up in that kind of enviroment, I would have the same additude she does. I love this book becuase, unlike other books, this one doesn't let the guy push her around. She stands up for what she knows is right and doesn't let her guard down for a moment. Maxime had to earn his right to love her.
Rating: Summary: What were all the other reviewers smoking? Review: I used to like Kathleen Woodiwiss, when I was 15 and first read "Shanna", which I consider the best of her books...but the rest of her novels in my opinion, truly stink, they are way too clogged with superfluous detail upon detail, and thus take forever to read...the plot is spelled out in excrutiating detail, & drags on and on with descriptions of EVERYTHING before you actually get to any one character's motivations and/or emotions, not to mention interactions between characters -- there is so little of this that her books just stop dead...you are so busy reading these boring bits before you hit anyone even having a conversation! Ms. Woodiwiss really needs to cut out the fat & write a romance novel that hums along, not drags its feet. Having said that about her books in general...THIS book was particularly affected by these qualities, and thus, for me, it dragged on & on, I found myself skipping forward in a desperate effort to find out if the story was actually MOVING. But it never did. What a snooze.

Rating: Summary: I couldn't even finish this book. Review: I've been a Woodiwiss fan for years. Shanna, The Flame and the Flower, and The Wolf and the Dove were classic Woodiwiss. I was such a fan that I even pre-ordered this book before it was released. I couldn't even get through it. Hopefully her newer books will be better.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK Review: Its the best romance novel (probably the best book) I've ever read
