Rating: Summary: Now my number one favorite Keeper Review: I cant tell you the number of times I've read this book. Joeseems slick, but he turns out incredibly complex. The chemistrykilled me. It is the one armed forces book that sucked me in. It's funny, romantic and realistic.
Rating: Summary: Great kick off to the the TDD series! Review: I finally found a copy of Prince Joe and it didn't disappoint. A European Crown Prince is targeted by terrorists and as he is the spitting image of Lt. Joe "Cat" Catalonotto, Joe is enlisted to pose as the Crown Prince, and hopefully become the target so that the would-be assassins can be caught.Veronica St. John is Prince Tedric's media assistant, and it's her job to transform the rough, New Jersey-accented Joe into Prince material. Although Veronica is strongly attracted to Joe, and viceversa, each believes that their worlds are just too different for a relationship to ever work. As time goes by and the two are thrown together, Joe and Veronica realize that the danger of their mission might mean that they don't have a future together, even if they wished to. This is a great book, the characters are well drawn and we meet several of the men who have their own stories told in the SEALs' later books. Joe Cat and Veronica are characters to cheer for.
Rating: Summary: not quite royalty yet Review: I love Suzanne Brockman's SEALS series. I think she is just getting better and better. This is clearly an early attempt. The characterisations are weaker, and the lovers' differences are repeated a few too many times. The hero is nicely drawn but suprisingly the heroine has less personality and feels more like a cipher. Ms Brockman will become one of my must buy, all time favourite writers, but this early stuff can be missed
Rating: Summary: Fast-paced, character-driven, adventure romance!! Review: I usually dislike any action/adventure in romances because the authors forget to concentrate on the characters and spend the entire book on car chases and gunfights. Well, Brockmann is one author who does it right! The characters are always the focus, with the action a nice bonus. Joe Cat is a wonderful hero: a tough, intelligent, funny, blue-collar kind of guy. He is the leader of the Alpha Squad of the Navy SEALs. Veronica is a high-class and hoity toity media consultant. A job brings them together: Joe must pose as the Prince of Eustanzia to catch a terrorist. Veronica must turn this macho sailor with the atrocious New Jersey accent into a prince in 2 days! The attraction between them is immediate and very powerful, but many things stand in their way. Joe, a usually confident man, feels insecure for the first time. His blue-collar background makes him think Veronica won't want him for more than a fling. Is he right? You have to read the book! Veronica, for her part, is scared for Joe as catching dangerous terrorists is a daily thrill for him. Does she ask him to quit the SEALs? You have to read the book! Believe me, it's better than I can ever describe. I was excited to learn that this is Brockmann's 1st book in a 10-book (or more) series about Navy SEALs. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.
Rating: Summary: Mediocre at best Review: I was really disappointed when I read this book since the other reviewers gave it such high marks. I'm sorry, I just can't get into a hero who greets his lover with "Yo, Ronny." Also, the doubts of the hero and heroine as to the feelings of the other was emphasized too much to believe that these would be the thoughts of two adults (it sounded more like high school kids). Finally, I don't think the author did a good idea of getting into the mind of how such a man might think (it's seemed more like what women want to think a man would think). Kat Martin's "Hot Rain" is a much more realistic and sexy novel if you like the Navy Seal type hero.
Rating: Summary: A royal treat from Brockmann Review: It seems that the topic of terrorism has infiltrated our zeitgeist so much so that even romance cannot escape drawing plots parallel to it. This timely re-issue of Suzanne Brockmann's Prince Joe blends the heroics of SEALS with a scorching romance tinged with a fairy-tale charm. Ustanzian Prince Tedric on a diplomatic trip to America is being ambushed by an infamous terrorist organization The Cloud of Death. After a close brush with death, Prince Tedric resorts to finding a substitute with an uncanny resemblance in looks. He is SEALS Lieutenant Joe Catalanotto who previously rescued Tedric from an attack in Baghdad. Prince Tedric leaves the uphill task of transforming the coarse Joe to refined royalty to media consultant Veronica St. John. Saturated with chemistry and passion, Prince Joe shows Suzanne Brockmann at crafting top-notch romance with believable characters. Their polarized status and differences - not to mention the insecurity that Joe's occupation brings poses obstacle to their fragile relationship. The ultimate triumph to love is bittersweet and Suzanne Brockmann creates an epilogue that will twist your heart out with its poignancy. Her well-researched materials on armoury and SEAls serves to fortify the credibilty but it is the strength of her romance that marks it a royal treat.
Rating: Summary: Gotta Love a Guy in Uniform! Review: Joe and Veronica's story is a thoroughly enjoyable read. If you want a break from the norm... dukes in Regency England, Cowboys and half-breeds of the old west... and more realistic than vampires or aliens falling in love with human females in futuristic/sci-fi romance novels... then try Brockman's Prince Joe! Rating: Summary: Joe the Prince of Princes! Review: Joe Cat is a Navy SEAL, and damn proud of it too. Veronica St. John comes from the upper crust and her best friend (and sister in law) is the Princess of Ustanzia. Veronica's new job is to be the public relations person of the Prince of Ustanzia, Tedric, who happens to be a snob and a useless pittyful handsome guy. Someone tries to kill Tedric and he decides that the so important tour in the US can be held until he knows he's safe, however the goverment in the US does not like that idea and Tedric tells them that they can put someone in his place, to pretend to be Tedric. That someone is Joe Catalanotto who years earlier had saved the Prince's life during a SEAL operation. Thus the mess begins and despite it all Joe and Veronica feel extremely attracted to each other. But Joe has some ghosts that still hunt him since his childhood and adolescenece and still has a chip on his shoulder. Veronica thinks Joe is the type of guy that sleeps with any hot woman that crosses his path. At the end Joe proves to be a much better Prince than Tedric and he as well as Veronica must face their demons if they want to be truly happy... together. I enjoyed this book, but it has many holes I didnt like. For one, the 1st chapter is a tad slow, but it's bearable. You get to really know Joe, he's a great guy, but Veronica stays two dimensional. You get to like her, but at points I wished she was a bit more assertive, specially since she holds a very important job. I wish Ms. Brockmann had added more information on Veronica in order to gain a better perspective of her. Overall it is a pretty good read and, despite the weaknessess of the story I enjoyed it very much and so not regret for one minute reading it, since it was very tender, funny and entertaining.
Rating: Summary: from the arrogant gleam in his eyes to his New York accent.. Review: Joe's got it! Boy, does he. Joe is well-liked, good at what he does (in fact he is one of the best), and it's all wrapped up in a good-lookin' package (or body) too. And he is in demand... because he just so happens to look like the Ustanzian prince whose life is in danger of terrorist while visiting the USA. It is decided to do a switch with the prince and Navy Seals Lieutenant Joe Catalanofto - only with the help of the prince's aide Veronica St.John. Hopefully after working with Veronica, Joe can learn the prince's aristocratic ways of living, take his place for the next couple of weeks and discover who is making threats of the prince's life. This will be no easy task! Due to Joe being confident and cocky, sparks fly when Veronica and Joe first meet making working conditions difficult. But they must work with their assignment which means they will be working closely together. Very Close together! Will Joe be able to pull it off? Will Joe and Veronica pull together? Like some of the other reviewers I found the story simple at times, but I got caught up in it and enjoyed it. It was interesting reading about the seals and their dedication and the relationship between Joe and Veronica was cute and sweet. It's a recommended read by me!
