Summary: Couldn't leave it down
Review: An excellent book like the author. I read it under another name "No Regrets", and that's what it is: I have no regrets. My first book by E. Adler was Private Desires and from there on wards she became one of my most favourite authors. Please keep on the good work Elisabeth.

Summary: Nail-Biting Suspense Mixes With Sensuous Romance
Review: Elizabeth Adler is one of those wonderful authors whose books always satisfy me. SOONER OR LATER falls into her group of romantic suspense novels that feature a strong female lead, a dashing cop (in this case, newly retired and having purchased a California vineyard) and a psychopathic killer obsessed with the female. What could be trite in the hands of a lesser writer becomes engrossing and spellbinding with Adler thanks to clever plotting, interesting back story on the characters, and likeable supporting characters.

Ellie Duveen is a chef, trained in France, and owner of a charming French cafe where she cooks, waits tables, keeps the books, does whatever needed to become highly successful. When our fiercely independent heroine crosses paths with the retired New York cop who has moved to California to start a wine-making business, the sparks are electric. But can two people from such different worlds connect? Will the city girl be able to find happiness with a man who has had enough of city life and only wants the quiet and solitude of his vineyard? You bet, and the predictable path to romance makes for a highly enjoyable read.

A psycho from the past, grisly murders, long-buried memories, a doting grandmother, and exquisite French cooking make this a most enjoyable novel that will not only have you on the edge of your seat with suspense but reveling in the romance as well.

Summary: A one sitting read!
Review: For two decades, Buck Duveen was imprisoned in one of New York's most expensive and secure mental institutions. He had been committed by Lottie Parish, the individual he tried to kill. Now that Lottie's fortunes have ebbed, the institution (lacking funds) frees Buck even though they know that he is a deadly psychopath. When Buck is free, he withdraws his cash from a savings account and heads to California, determined to get even with Lottie and her granddaughter Ellie, his half-sister.

Buck thinks that if he rids himself of his two female relatives, he inherits both of their estates. He carefully stalks his prey so that he can become familiar with their routines. Ellie, who does not even know Buck exists, is unaware of the danger creeping closer to her. Only former detective turned vintner, Dan Cassidy, who loves Ellie, stands in the way of the madman.

SOONER OR LATER is a pulse pounding thriller that grabs readers from the start and builds increasingly greater tension through each subsequent page until the audience feels every nerve pulsating to the limit. The novel is a well-structured drama, told from the perspectives of the various participants in a smooth seamless tale. Lovers of psychological suspense will want to peruse this exciting book.

Summary: Held my breath often!
Review: He was a serial killer that left his mark on his victims in the form of a cut on the forehead. It was a cross, which went from temple to temple, forehead to nose. He was never caught on purpose. He was put in a maximum security mental institute by the woman who he last attempted to kill. The woman had been "family". But the screams of his five year old, half sister brought the woman's body guards in. He considered himself lucky. If his past had been known he could have gotten a long term in a real prison.

Two decades have passed and he is free. The woman is now old. He has plotted his revenge and is savoring the hunt. The half sister is not forgotten either. She has grown into a beautiful woman. He can hardly wait to taste her.

Ellie now ran her own restaurant. It barely held its own, but she loved it. She had no time for a private life, but when ex-cop Dan reentered her life, she made the time. However, someone is following her. Someone has learned her routine. And it make take all her courage and all the skill of her new lover to keep her alive.

Summary: This book reads slowly
Review: I felt as though I were constantly saying "get on with it", yet by the end of the book I did realize it is a good story. Ellie Duveen was too young to remember the night someone tried to hurt her Miss Lottie. Her parents dead, Ellie is raised by "Miss Lottie", which is how she refers to her grandmother, and loves her grandmother with a protective and respectable love. But some things are better left unremembered in this story. Ellie runs a cafe of her own in town, where she is sometimes cook, waiter and server all at once, but she loves it. Her life is simple and, she feels, complete. Then she meets Dan, an old school chum, and there is romance in the air. There is also something else in the air that the reader is totally unprepared for. With this mystery thriller, the author has a real flair for surprise.

Summary: My first by E. Adler book, but not my last.
Review: I have 50 more pages to read of this book. I do not see how they will get to Ellie in time, but I guess I will find out. This was a very good book.

Summary: Great book
Review: I loved this book. I, along with everyone else, couldn't put this one down. This was my first Alder book. When I was done, I moved on to another called "Now or Never". That is also an excellent book. If you get the chance - read it. These books, I found, that I would read and an hour or 2 would pass, but it only seemed like a short time. I am in process of looking for more by Adler.
