Rating: Summary: An Engaging Romantic Thriller Review: A politician without principles is a half step away from corruption. The constituents of Leaf Brook, New York are lucky in that respect: their Mayor, Stephen Stratford, is as solid as they come, having engineered a building boom and injected economic stability into a city that once floundered. With the wealth and power of his family name behind him, is it any wonder Mayor Stratford is running for the senate? Even a strong, upstanding man like Stephen, however, has his weaknesses, the extent of which will soon be exposed -- unless he complies with a blackmailer's demands and forfeits his badly ruffled integrity. Will Stephan's wife and child be made to pay the price? Not if Connor Stratford, Stephen's younger brother -- and a venture capitalist used to hard-nosed tactics -- has anything to say about it. Stephen's downward spiral into an old addiction is all too obvious to a brother who has spent a great deal of his life covering Stephen's tracks and keeping his secret buried. Worried about his nephew, Brian, and the impact such tension will have on him at home, Connor packs his bags and moves into his brother's residence temporarily. The plan is to prevent further damage and hurt to Stephen, his family and his political career. If that means bailing Stephen out one more time, so be it. Connor will be damned if he sits idly by while his brother self-destructs. Stephen is in far deeper trouble than Connor first feared, though. A scandal is a far too likely prospect, especially with Brian's teacher snooping about. Julia Talbot's concern for Brian is genuine; with a dual degree in early childhood education and psychology, she's more alert to the changes in Brian's behavior than Connor would like, and far more concerned. It's obvious to Julia that the Mayor and his family are experiencing some kind of crisis. But what? And how can she help Brian? When the danger to her prized pupil is made clear, Julia reacts without thought. Her relationship to Connor Stratford, only recently developed, is put on the side burner; at least, Julia tries to put it there. Connor is determined to keep Julia in his life, however, and for more than his initial purpose (which was to distract Brian's lovely teacher and prevent her from uncovering that oh-so damning secret). The clock is ticking: When love and danger collide, will Connor, Julia and the Stratford family emerge unscathed? Flawlessly plotted, NO WAY OUT is an engaging romantic thriller. (The brief "prologue" in chapter one didn't quite mesh with the story later on, however. Thankfully, that was the only incongruity I noticed). Although Connor and Julia's relationship is forced to compete against the tension generated by the suspense plot line, the necessary chemistry is present to satisfy a romance reader's craving for tension of another variety. I did feel slightly cheated by the briefness of Connor and Julia's courtship, but overall, Ms. Kane does a wonderful job of bringing the romance and suspense alive. Character development is equally well done. In essence, NO WAY OUT will tantalize a reader with its possibilities; it will lure you in for a long night of reading; but for a long-time reader of romantic suspense, the plot could feel eerily familiar. Ms. Kane has undeniable talent, however. Her transition from historical romance to romantic thrillers has been a smooth one. From a personal standpoint, NO WAY OUT succeeded in capturing my interest. There's no way I'd miss Ms. Kane's next romantic suspense novel!

Rating: Summary: Stark Suspense+Passionate Romance=Awesome Reading Review: Andrea Kane has created a sizzling intrigue and tossed in a red-hot romance involving the primary characters to make this page turner one of the best I've read this year. Julia Talbots seems to be a rather prim starchy teacher until she's thrown together with the uncle of one of her favorite 8 year old students. At the same time she's being seduced by the wealthy, handsome Conner Stratford, her life begins to take on frightening, life threatening tones that are connected to Conners powerful family. While Conners brother Stephen is being seemingly sucked in by powerful political ploys beyond his control his wife and son are tossed into a sea of danger. The reader is caught up in the intense attraction between Julia and Conner that burns up the pages as the threat to the Stanford family deepens then erupts, with Julia caught up in the crossfire. The story doesn't unravel either gently or quietly but rockets the reader into a fast paced thrill as the sexual tension between Julia and Conner quickly unfolds and the intrigue and suspense explodes. A must read for Kane fans and especially for readers who needs a break from frothy novels! You'll love this one.
Rating: Summary: Andrea Kane is the best! Review: Andrea Kane is an excellent writer and I absolutely love reading her books. No Way Out is one of her best books. I love the characters and I had tears in my eyes and wished the story would never end. This is an excellent book and I recommend it to anybody who likes Andrea Kane or to someone who likes a good story.
Rating: Summary: Oh please Review: First of all, the teacher's relationship with the kid was completely overblown and unrealistic. Second, her reaction to the kid's stress was overblown and unrealistic. She's supposed to be some authority on emotional abuse of children, but Brian's parents problems weren't emotional abuse, they were family problems (okay, illegal, expensive and dangerous family problems, but the kid wasn't in on all that, he just knew dad wasn't coming home on time and mom and dad were fighting a lot.) There were interesting elements in the plot, but they just didn't logically intersect in the ways Kane tried to make them do. This if my first Kane, I doubt there'll be another.
Rating: Summary: One of the Worst Books I've ever read Review: Horrid! Boring and contrived. There are thousands of great books out there. Please save your money and buy something else. I love romance and suspense novels...this is not one of them!

Rating: Summary: Oh please Review: I read 'No Way Out' in one night. Is it great literature? Absolutely not. Did I enjoy it? I have to admit that I did. Julia Talbot is a teacher who tries to help her young student, Brian Stratford. Her attempts to help bring her into the lives of Brian and his politically connected family. Of course, there are people who do not want Julia to meddle into their affairs. She soon finds that her life is at risk as she searches for the answers to Brian's problems. Her heart is also at risk when she allows Brian's uncle, Connor Stratford, to join her. The likeable characters and light mystery make this fun to read.

Rating: Summary: If you want romance don't pick this one! Review: I was EXTREMELY disappointed in this book! I absolutely LOVE Kane's work but I found nothing of merit here. The characters were shallow, the plot contrived and other than an extreme case of lust there was NOTHING to draw the couple together. Once they fell into bed together their story was over. Not only that but the storyline didn't really have anything to do with them at all. Does writing contemporaries mean no romance or tenderness or does it just mean falling into bed at the most convenient opportunity? PLEASE Andrea go back to writing historicals!
