Rating: Summary: The best love story I have read in years Review: I don't know how to put in words how much I loved this novel. It was a real tearjerker, but it's so much more than that. When I finished the book, I couldn't stop thinking about it. I was smiling for days thinking about Nick and Annie and little Izzy. My only problem was that I wanted more! If you're a fan of big, emotional love stories--don't wait to read On Mystic Lake.
Rating: Summary: Though I knew better, i couldn't put it down. Review: Kristin Hannah well knows that many readers want a chance to start over, and escape to the simpler, earthier "life on the lake" like her protaganist. While there are elements that are contrived there is much about the story that is satisfying, and ultimately it is a easy evenings read with some useful insights- into the joys of domesticity, parenting, and coming through grief and finding happiness on the other side.
Rating: Summary: On Mystic Lake kept my interest afloat. Review: With her latest book, On Mystic Lake, Kristin Hannah has set sail with a beautiful tale.We are witness to the rebuilding of shattered lives and the end results make us rejoice. When Annie Colwater returns to her childhood home, her old friend Nick Delacroix and his daughter Izzie become life lines for each other. They pull each other out of the despair life has thrown them into. I picked this book up at 9am and finished it by 5pm. I found myself thinking of Within Reach by Delinsky while I read and knew I had a great book to reccomend at the library. Welcome to hardback books Ms.Hannah. You've written a winner.
Rating: Summary: A depressing and realistic story of love and loss Review: I really wanted to like this book, but found it depressing and dark and difficult to finish. The love and loss suffered by the main character was horrible and realistic. I really would discourage anyone who is having marriage issues to STEER CLEAR! Find a book that talks to the joy in long term, loyal relationships.
Rating: Summary: Predictable but I was hooked Review: I loved this book. The plot was pretty predictible but her characters were great and I loved her writing style. I cried through the whole third part but I didn't want it to end.
Rating: Summary: what a wonderful reading adventure Review: I absolutely loved this book right down to the cover and the quotes at each beginning of each chapter. What a wonderful story of love and determination,Annie was exactly the way I was in the end of a long term marriage for the same reason and it is so painful. I am so glad Nick and Izzy became a part of her life, and I am sure if we could see the ending it would be exactly the way we wanted it to be. I have to admit I shed a lot of tears some of pain, frustration and of course for happiness. I was impressed with Blake and Annie's daughter and how she was able to cope with a marriage ending for her parents and being able to advise her Mom to go on and seek happiness. Well what can we say about Nick, he will have to deal with a problem for the rest of his life but with the love of Annie and wee Izzy counting on him we have to know he will be okay. I have always loved all of Kristan's book and this book is certainly her best and has won a special place in my heart. Anyone who loves to read needs to enjoy a day with this book!
Rating: Summary: People who wouldn't normally read"romance" should try this! Review: romance is a much-maligned category -- perhaps because there are such a plethora of writers it's hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. If you're curious to see what the genre produces at its very best, try Kristin Hannah's new book. As the Washington Post Reviewer says, she'd never be caught dead reading a romance, but she LOVED this book. This is a real writer for real readers.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Review: I don't usually read romance type books, but the Washington Post review sounded good. It was very enjoyable. The characters were realistic. I wasn't sure which way it would end, so I liked that it wasn't predictable.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Book -- totally enjoyable Review: Living in the Pacific Northwest made reading this book just like visiting a small town neighborhood--like Stanwood used to be---loved the main character and the little girl in the book just warmed my heart. Totally recommend this book
Rating: Summary: Thought-provoker! Review: Ms. Hannah grabbed my heart and then jerked it around in her hands until I was left wiped out on my bed and contemplating the holes in my own life. Best NOT read if your marriage is not what you dreamed it would be!
