Rating: Summary: On Mystic Lake is great Review: I thought this book was wonderful. I am 16 years old and I haven't read in so long but one day out of boredom I started reading a copy of Mystic Lake at work. It was such a good book I decided to purchase the book and once I read on I couldn't put it down. This is the first book of Hannah's I've read- and I hope her others are just as good.
Rating: Summary: A splendid compelling & compassionate page-turner! Review: From the beginning of this story, Kristin Hannah captures the reader's interest immediately. The characters are so real; we have all known an Annie, Nick, Blake, Izzy and Natalie at one time or another. Because of Hannah's impeccable talent, one instantly becomes so absorbed with this story that they are oblivious to the world around them. She creates an intriguing, comfortable blend of romance, death and alcoholism; a difficult combination to merge into a thought-provoking, compelling story. Unable to set the book down, I was quite saddened when I finished it because it was over.
Rating: Summary: An incredible, moving book! Review: Wow,what an awesome book.It was really moving and inspirational.I cried through the entire book. The main character,Annie, was so strong and courageous. I felt like I knew the characters so well and that I was a part of their lives. The author did an incredible job writing this terrific book.If you haven't read it please do, because it moves you so much and makes you value life. A job well done!
Rating: Summary: On Mystic Lake Review: I read this book almost a year ago and I have still not forgotten it. I lent out the hardcover and never got it back. Last time I do that with a favorite book. I'm here to purchase it again. This is truly a "must read" I wish I could find more like it
Rating: Summary: On Mystic Lake Review: From the first page to the last I really enjoyed this wonderfully written book.I felt as if I knew each character very well and really didn't want to get to the end of the book at all!!
Rating: Summary: Great writer, not-so-great message Review: Kristin Hannah is a talented writer and her characters are well-drawn, but I was completely unimpressed with the message of the book--that one must "find" oneself at the expense of commitments--in order to find true happiness. Natalie's response to her parents divorce was anything but typical and obviously was written to serve the novel's agenda. Just a technicality...the hospital situations were very poorly researched. A healthy mother would never be allowed to remain in hospital as long as Annie was and most babies born at 5 pounds would not be nearly as at risk as was portrayed in this book.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful tale of love and loss and the road back home Review: I adored On Mystic Lake. I couldn't put it down for a moment. Its characters touched me, especially those of Izzy and Nick. In a world of so much pain, this book points out the universal truth that love can conquer all. I enjoyed this read whole-heartedly and I recommend it to anyone who likes a tale of love and loss, anyone who likes a tale of picking up the missing pieces and starting with new beginnings. It reminds us that love is sometimes found in the most unexpected places.
Rating: Summary: A GREAT BOOK Review: This is a book that is hard to put down, one that tugs at the strings on your heart. It can make you cry, then makes you laugh . . .If you want to read a book that goes straight to your heart, read Stolen Moments by Barbara Jeanne Fisher. . .It is a beautiful story of unrequited love. . .for certain the love story of the nineties. I intended to give the book a quick read, but I got so caught up in the story that I couldn't put the book down. From the very beginning, I was fully caught up in the heart-wrenching account of Julie Hunter's battle with lupus and her growing love for Don Lipton. This love, in the face of Julie's impending death, makes for a story that covers the range of human emotions. The touches of humor are great, too, they add some nice contrast and lighten things a bit when emotions are running high. I've never read a book more deserving of being published. It has rare depth. Julie's story will remind your readers that life and love are precious and not to be taken for granted. It has had an impact on me, and for that I'm grateful. Stolen Moments is written with so much sensitivity that it made me want to cry. It is a spellbinder. What terrific writing. Barbara does have an exceptional gift! This book was edited by Lupus specialist Dr. Matt Morrow too, and has the latest information on that disease. ..A perfect gift for someone who started college late in life, fell in love too late in life, is living with any illness, or trying to understand a loved one who is. . .A gift to be cherished forever.
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully written-could not put it down Review: Great book of the Northwest-characters are great, writting style is captivating and holds your interest. First Krisitn Hannah book I have read and cannot wait to read more. Unique style that holds ones interest.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books i've ever read Review: simply stated....don't miss this one. I read it almost 2 months ago and still can't stop thinking about it.
