Rating: Summary: An "11" on a scale from "1-10" Review: This book is fantastic! Fast paced and a real attention grabber! I was very hard pressed to put this one down. The cover appealed to me in the bookstore and I was totally and utterly excited and entranced reading it. I loved the characters. Especially Rolfe. I love a man to take charge and he did not dissapoint!
Rating: Summary: Excellent!!! Review: This book is what a romance novel is all about. The hero so strong in character yet sensitive and the heroine intelligent, independent yet so kind-hearted. I love the fast-paced story-telling by Ms. Joyce, the very witty dialogues and the sensuous love scenes. This is a must reading for all romance readers
Rating: Summary: Wow! What can I say? Review: This book was excellent. A real keeper that I will definitely read again. Not only was it a page turner and heart stopper, but I found unable to stop thinking of the story while I wasn't reading it. I found myself feeling many of the feelings that the characters had. I just can't say enough!
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: This book was great! Steamy, exciting, a real page turner. I LOVE Brenda Joyce!
Rating: Summary: another good one from Joyce Review: This is not a book to leave out on the coffee table, it is extremely graphic and steamy. However it is a compelling story of obsessive love and has very interesting characters throughout. If you like this one, I very highly recommend Mary Jo Putney's Uncommon Vows.
Rating: Summary: 100ÂșC + Review: This is one of the hottest reads ever, even for Brenda Joyce. Rolfe and Ceidre are nowhere near your typical lovey-dovey romantic couple. In fact their relationship often verges more on hate than on love. The physical attraction is immediate and strong with Rolfe even ignoring that Ceidre had what in medieval eyes was considered an evil eye -an on and off squint. At long last, a heroine who is not perfect! And Rolfe is well, imperfect to say the least although his imperfections should be seen in terms of the period in which the romance is set. Unfortunately, rape was not considered as that heinous especially if committed by a member of the conquering elite on a woman belonging to the defeated people. And a woman whose behaviour is not only treasonous but who behaves like a bad copy of Mata Hari. Still it's the rape scene which made me opt for four rather than five stars. The secondary characters are as fascinating as the primary ones although the half sister, Alice, does get a somewhat raw deal. Joyce seems to have wanted her to be as unlovable as possible - maybe so that nobody would be sorry for her when she met her fate. I would advise other readers to follow this book with "Promise of the Rose" (in my opinion Joyce's best) which deals with the story of Rolfe's and Ceidre's son.
Rating: Summary: WOW, What a book! Review: This is romance at its best. Characters are strong and believable. I can't put it down. I have put this book on my "keepers shelf", along with the Diane Gabaldon (Jamie & Claire, the time traveling lovers)series, and Skye O'Malley by Bertrice Small.
Rating: Summary: Excellent. It keeps me up late just to read it!! Review: This is the first book by Brenda Joyce that I read. I am glad to have discovered her talent. A good read indeed.
Rating: Summary: If you like an aggressive hero..... :-) Review: This is the first book I had read by Brenda, and I must admit I was torn between loving it and hating it. I was totally flabergasted at the things she put this couple through...and I don't think I've read any romances that the hero was quite so aggressive. By the end of the book I do admit that I loved it, but practically threw my hands up in the air on any number of occasions while I was reading. Anyway, it was good enough to make me purchase 3 more books by her and I just finished "My Dearest Enemy". It was great and another truly unique story by Brenda!
Rating: Summary: Hot and steamy.. Review: This was probably one of the best romance novels that I ever read. If you happen to like the hero who is forceful and agressive, then this book is for you. There are some reviewers that claimed that the hero was a rapist etc. I think the author was just trying to stay true to the century that the story was set in! What was he supposed to do--ask Ceidre out on a date? Bring her flowers? I did feel sorry for poor Alice though. She just wanted to be happy and married. Instead, her husband lusted after her sister, right in front of everyone mind you, was horribly rude to Alice all the time, and eventually sent her away to die in the convent! And *she* was a bad person why? Because she wanted to beat ...Ceidre? Who wouldn't in her circumstance? I also happen to think that the wandering eye would be much more freaky to witness, and not just a minor thing that everyone seems to disregard like no big deal. But if you don't care for whiny heros and " I love you, you love me" plot, then deffinately pick up this book!
