Summary: [money] down the tubes!
Review: All the other reviewers have said what was needed! I found it boring in the extreme. How many sex scenes can you fit into a non-plot? There was one instance when the author probably forgot she was in the 1800's. The hero and heroine was stuck in an inn during a snowstorm - carriage and horses could not get thru, right? Well, how did the heroine skip out the next morning on the stage? Did the author bring in a 20th Century snowplow along with the 20th C "dirty" dialogue?
Will not read this author again- second time burned!

Review: Another super sexy story by Susan Johnson. Once started, I couldn't put the book down.

Review: Dull book. I read the whole book with the hopes that it would get better at the end. It didn't.

Summary: It's not what you think!
Review: I am a huge fan of SJ. I have read nearly all her books. Of late she has been moving toward the erotic side of romance, and away from the traditional aspects of the genre. If you like steamy, kinky sex scenes this book is for you. I personally enjoyed the book. I gave it 3 stars because I didn't really understand what was going on between Caroline and Simon. I thought she should have delved a little further into their past, but since it is obvious that Caroline was about 12 or 13 when her sexual escapades began. I understand why she stayed away from it. Overall, the book is what it is. It is erotica. I had to join in after reading a couple of the previous reviews. The book wasn't bad. It just isn't erotic romance like her other books. It is pure erotica. Take it or leave it.

Review: I can't BELIEVE that someone reads Susan Johnsons books for theirs PLOTS. People PLEASE! Her books are about SEX new books old books its all the same...SEX. So if you are looking for plot, go read another author if you want sex..this book will do just fine. This was a quick read no thought needed, maybe got your blood flowing a little but not a bad book all in all. Its kind of like a one night stand...if you can remember the characters name at the end of the book you have done well.

Summary: What gives?
Review: I consider myself a fan of Susan Johnson and have recommeded her books to many friends around the world. I am very disappointed (yet again) by her recent writings. I find myself in a dilemma, do I stick around for the next few..hoping for a return of her earlier writing style (Hot with a plot)? or do I bid a fond farewell to an old friend? Hmmm?!

Summary: I love Susan Johnson books!!
Review: I guess I am just a total Susan Johnson lover. I know for sure that many that criticize her books just don't seem to see what I see. This book was a little more fast paced than some with more of the historical content. Which is fine for me, because anyone that reads Susan for historical content . . . well why would you read her for that? Simon and Caroline had grown up together and you could tell that they had had a long history. Their original breakup 5 years previous was over the usual Simon's philanderings - something that Caroline just could not forget. So a chance meeting 5 years later, a divorce put in the past for Caroline, she was running away penniless to a job as a governess. Meeting by chance at an inn in a snowstorm - they with much anger and resentment fall into each others arms again. I do not understand anyone saying they were abusesive - they lashed out at each other verbally not unlike other couples that have gone through hurt and untrust. And that is the core to this couples problems no trust. Simon for all his many many women cannot seem to deal with Caroline ever being with anyone else. It drives him crazy! And Caroline just never thinks that Simon will ever change. But oh my the chemisty is there - and isn't that why we read Susan Johnson?? I will give this book 5 stars if for no other reason than I love Susan's books, I was thrilled to have her write one in this period of British history and she can write bedroom scenes like no other. Keep it up Ms. Johnson!!

Summary: Not for the easily-shocked
Review: I have never read a 'romance' like this before and I sure hope I never do again. It was vulgar, crude, and the 'hero' was the most repulsively selfish person I have ever met. He thought the worst of the woman he supposedly loved right the way to the end of the book and took pleasure in hurting her both physically through sex and emotionally. I have never seen the c and the f words used so freely in any book of any genre, and was appalled at what passed for a 'love' scene in this book. Defintely not for the squeamish or sensitive.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Don't waste your time or money
Review: I have read most of Susan Johnson's books and was greatly disappointed in this one. There is no tenderness or affection between the main characters. The male character is a faithless dog who treats the female character like property. It is impossible for any sensible person to understand what these two people see in each other and it's depressing to read about it.

Summary: Absolute Trash
Review: I haven't read a romance novel in years and I certainly hope this isn't what every author has degraded to. This took no talent at all to write. I can't imagine anyone with a real life reading stuff like this. As far as the plot, all I can say is that's it's about the same as what you might see while flipping through late-night TV and you happen upon one of those dirty channels and see something gosh awful before you can press the button again. Don't waste your money. ANd this woman should be ashamed of herself!
