Rating: Summary: My second favorite Woodiwiss novel! Review: I have read and reread this book several times and I never tire of it. Ms. Woodiwiss brings the reader so completely into this story that you forget about all else. I love how the poetry introduces each section of the story. The romance and mystery are so well blended that the reader has a hard time guessing what will happen next. I recommend this book to anyone who loves or romance or has never read such a novel before.
Rating: Summary: Just one question? Review: why has this book never been made into a movie? This would put "The Blue and the Gray", "North and South" to shame. I love to read books from the cival war era, and this is by far the best.
Rating: Summary: The best story ever.... Review: I first read this book as a junior in high school (16 years ago), it took me two weeks to read, and I failed every test during that time. I couldn't put the book down. I stayed up reading until I fell asleep, I read during dinner, I read in the car, everything I did revolved around the book. I've read this book at least 50 times, and still love every word. I'm from the South and completely loved the tension she weaved between the Southern women and Northern Man...BUT what a man. I wanted to name my first son after Cole, but I think my husband thought I was nuts. The kind of love between Cole and Alaina is the kind of love everyone and anyone would love to have. Woodwiss is the best, no doubt. Other must reads are: Flame and the Flower, Wolf and the Dove, A Rose in Winter, Shanna. Unforturnity, after these books her writing just isn't the same. Does anybody get So worthy my Love?????
Rating: Summary: A day dream sensation. Review: No matter how many time I read this story, it still has the power to wrap me up and carry me along for the ride. The Historical information in the story only helps to add a sense of life and emotion to the story, and the charaters. Ashes in the Wind is a great read.
Rating: Summary: a story you can get lost in Review: i read this book many years ago. it is rare that i will read a book over but i enjoyed it more the second time. i fancy books from the civil war and found the historical detail one of its enjoyable components the other was the characters of al and cole.i was left wanting to know more and hoped the author would carry on with the children of cole and al especially mindy. this book has become one i use to measure the enjoyment i receive with other historical romance novels.
Rating: Summary: Not top quality but very touching Review: I didn't think this was one of Woodiwiss' best but I did enjoy it. The bickering htat went on between Alania and Cole was to drawn out like a bunch of three year olds. However once they got over it and before they were hitched I really enjoyed the action and mystery that kept you going for more
Rating: Summary: Once you start you can't stop reading! Review: Ashes in the Wind is the kind of romance novel critics of the genre should be made to read. If they did I am sure that the naysayers would be silenced. From the first page to the last the charactrers of Alaina and Cole touch the heart and keep the reader engrossed. Few romance novels leave a lasting impression like this one did and it is a must read for anyone who has a heart and believes in the power of love.
Rating: Summary: It has everything a reader could want. Review: It doesn't matter if you aren't normaly a reader of historic romance. This novel has it all. History, romance, a mystery, and characters that will stay with you forever. Bravo!
Rating: Summary: I LOVE AL! Review: Being from New Orleans myself, I loved reading about the enchanting history of our cultured city and being able to see it from the eyes of several people who lived during the time of the civil war. I first read it when I was thirteen, and ever since then, I have collected every Woodiwiss book. I instantly became addicted to her work. I love how Alaina so thoroughly expresses her southern pride and how strong and courageous she proves to be. When she finally found her happiness after so much struggling I felt like cheering. I was so sad when it was over, but I liked how it was one of those books that just went on and on. I didn't want it to end! I loved it!
Rating: Summary: Woodiwiss' BEST WORK! A MUST READ! Review: The best romance ever! Woodiwiss is at the top of her form with this beautifully descriptive novel. It is easy to get involved in Alain and Cole's lives as they triumph over their own prejudices and the scheming of others. A must read for any Woodiwiss fan or any discriminating romance reader!
