You'll fall head-over-heels in love with Cole and admire Alaina's characteristics .You'll be captivated throughout the book and will not be able to put it down till you've finished reading it. I stayed up for three nights in a row reading this book. It gave me a new insight of love and made me hope to meet a man like Cole who loved Alaina unconditionally and passionately through thick and thin. You'll regret not reading this book. It's the ULTIMATE romance story of the century.

Review: Forget Gone with the Wind! This book is the best novel I have ever read in regards to the Civil War. It has intrigue, love, hate, steamy love scenes, that will either leave you laughing or crying. This book takes you there, almost to the point of feeling the Southern heat. You'll fall in love with Cole and wish to God that you could find a man like him, or be so totally frustrated with the circumstances of why he Alaina can not be totally honest with another. If you want to be transported back in time and forget everything around you, get this book as soon as possible and enjoy. A word of caution...you won't be able to put it down once you start reading so pick a time when you'll be off from work, or you'll have to call in sick!

Review: I read "Ashes in the Wind", in my very first year in high school. I read it repeatedly until the covers of the book fell off. It was my very first romance novel. "Ashes in the Wind", was and always will be my favorite. And yes, I did buy a new soft cover copy of the book! It will be a permanent fixture in MY library!

My all time favorite is FLAME AND THE FLOWER (read it in high school-MANY YEARS ago).I read FLAME OR ASHES at least once every six months. It takes you to a different place and time just lay back and enjoy..... You'll love Cole and wanted to find some just like him--- but where to look...

Review: MY FIRST NOVEL WRITTEN BY KATHLEEN WOODIWISS I COULDNT PUT IT DOWN. SINCE I READ THIS BOOK I HAVE READ EVERY ONE OF HER NOVELS. THIS BEING ONE OF MY THREE FAVORITES OF HER WORKS. I CAN ONLY TELL EVERY MOTHER OF A YOUNG DAUGHTER THAT I HIGHLY RECOMEND IT FOR A GIRL OF 16 OR OLDER TO READ. THE PEOPLE IN THE STORY BECAME SO REAL TO ME., AND I LOVED THE PLOT SO MUCH THAT IM CURRENTLY READING THIS NOVEL AGAIN FOR THE 2ND TIME.

Review: This is one of her best stories ever. I read it for the first time in high school (15 years ago) and read it again within a year. I go back to it every few years just to indulge myself in the history and romamnce of the story. If you at all are interested in Civil War history and the history of New Orleans, mixed with romance, this book is for you.

Review: I loved the story and the setting, but this book just kept going and going. It took forever just to get the romance set up. I finished it, and liked it, but will not hurry to read it again.

Review: Kathleen Woodiwiss is the best author of Romance novels...she is the queen!! Ashes in the Wind is a wonderful book that bears no resemblance to Gone With the Wind...it has a better story!! Why this book hasn't been made into a movie ...Then again no film could match the wonderful way Ms. Woodiwiss writes! Read this book and also read her others...Shanna, the Flame and the Flower, Come Love a Stranger... Great romances, the BEST!

Review: One of the best books I have ever read. I have only begun to collect Ms. Woodiwiss's novels and after reading three of them, I haven't been disappointed yet. The background that is put into these books are educational, and the story lines are exceptional.
