Rating: Summary: A True Classic Review: A great great story, all the way through. Not boring as some of KW's books can get in spots. I liked the fact that the author gave us a long, very interesting story to follow, as it adds substance to romances. In this instance, KW was talented enough to pull it off without losing the reader's interest. Wonderful characters! Alaina was a great heroine. Don't expect to read this one in one or two nights, as it deserves to be savored slowly.
Rating: Summary: Quiet beautiful, but... Review: The story flow beautifully on the beginning chapters. then, it started to get monotoneus in the middle till the end, and really predictable. It is as if the readers are guide to tell the story not to view it. Worse again, the topics are 'jumpy',from one plot to the other. Overall, it is not so bad, however it is not the best from other of her novels. Still romantic, sweet telling, but not enough description on the man's feeling. Woodiwiss makes the hero sound so childish and dull. I like her "Elusive Flame" much much better.
Rating: Summary: She's done it again... Review: wOw. This is one of KEW's best books. I LOVED it. She so artfully ties historical facts into the love story that you can almost be there, and all of her research is correct. She is such a talented author, writing classics like, The Flame and the Flower, Shanna, A Rose in Winter, ect. I disagree with people who say that Alaina was too stubborn or that the story was too long or that so many little mysteries tied into one was a bit unreal. Alaina had been through so much, and I found "Al" funny and fresh. The book isn't too long in my opinion, and I was sad when I had finished it. I never would have suspected the ending. The way KEW ties it all into one is wonderful, and I really enjoyed this book. Ms. Woodiwiss never ceases to amaze me. I highly recomend this book to any romance fan or, really, to anyone who loves to read. I love this book, and I will come back to read it again and again.
Rating: Summary: Historical and Sweet Review: Woodiwiss never ceases to amaze me. This is one ofher best! I love the Civil War era, making this book eve better. Alaina is so strong and stubborn, as is Cole, it was fun seeing how "AL" and Cole got along, 2gether. MUST READ!!If you like Woodiwiss, definitely read Shanna and the Flame and the Flower!
Rating: Summary: "Ashes in the Wind" is one of the best romances ever written Review: This is a fabulous romance novel, with fascinating characters, set against the tragedy of the Civil War. Many women are known to have disguised themselves as men to fight - Alaina disguises herself for survival and meets the love of her life. I keep hoping for a sequel - whatever happens to Alaina's brother Jason after the war?
Rating: Summary: THE ENDING IS REALLY GOOd Review: Just like all of KEW's books, this has a very good ending that keeps up in suspence. I love how there is allways a mystery tied in with the romance that keeps you guessing throught the whole book. I have to be honest....the first part of the book wasn't very good but the second part just blew me away. I do recommend this book like all of KEW's books but if you find it getting boring just have faith and keep reading because it gets really good.
Rating: Summary: The Best Review: Ashes In the Wind is by far one of the best books I've ever read. I started reading Kathleen E. Woodiwiss when I was about 12 and loved her. Ashes was the first book I've read from her. It got me hooked. I now own all of her novels and continue to read them over and over.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, Excellent Book Review: This is one of my most absolutely favorite books. I read it the first time as a 12 or 13 year old and I still have the original printing (bound together with duct tape). This is one that I read over and over and the story never gets old. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: Its been so long since I read a Woodiwiss novel, I forgot why she was once my favorite. K.W. creates a turbulent setting amidst the Civil War. One full of violence, passion, love and understanding. The main characters are beautifully drawn out, as is the story line. One of my favorite aspects of any Woodiwiss book is that the romantic struggle ends somewhere before the end of the story, and we are able to view the couple grow together, face adversary as one. I was not disappointed by Ashes in the Wind.
Rating: Summary: Didn't get under my skin at all ... Review: „Ashes in the wind" was my second Woodiwiss, after „The flame and the flower". So I had great expectations, hoping for another unique story and adorable couple, and then I was very disappointed. The story was improbable and I didn't like Alaina at all - she was so stubborn and non-amiable, I don't understand how Cole could love her. My message to all romance readers: Skip this one and read „Shanna" or „A rose in winter" for example.
