There's a nice epilogue, too.

Rating: Summary: A Woman to Cherish Review: Rebecca Morgan's life has been turned upside-down. While en route to Santa Fe where her family intends to relocate, they are viciously attacked. Rebecca, the sole survivor, witnesses the brutal murder of her loved ones and falls into a deep shock.
Ex gunslinger Race Spencer now lives a respectable life as a rancher, but he is lonely...until the day that he happens upon Rebecca. She is alone and terrifed, and though Race isnt quite sure what to do with her, he knows that he cant leave her alone to fend for herself. Race takes Rebecca into his care and a deep love blooms between the two of them.
I had such high hopes for this book. I love a story where the main players are traveling and have lots of time to be alone together, but "Cherish" was a challenge for me to finish. The pace was extremely slow, but my main complaint was with the characters - Rebecca especially. She was so annoying and grasping and dependant on Race, I honestly dont know how he didnt suffocate. I realize under the circumstances that Rebecca felt vulnerable, but her reactions and her all around personality as a whole just grated. I really couldnt stand her.
Race was a good guy, but boring.
Basically, I cant say that "Cherish" was lousy, but I wouldnt recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Incredibly depressing read Review: This book is a real downer, and the heroine is a dependent weakling. Anderson is a talented writer who just needs a different plot.
Rating: Summary: Well-written, But... Review: This book is very well-written, believe me. The trademark Catherine Anderson stamp is there. However, reading this book is NOT an easy chore. The book opens with a brutal murder-rape scene with the heroine witnessing the massacre of her parents and friends. The hero rescues her after a long, bloody shootout with the outlaws, and the book never stops in its unremitting feel of danger. Every quiet moment the two share seems to be on borrowed time, as the outlaws continue to haunt them. A 12 year old got senselessly murdered, people got beaten up badly, and when I reach the end, it's with a sense of relief, not satisfaction. Catherine Anderson writes well about the healing powers of love, but for me, this book is really dark and morbid. I'll pass.
Rating: Summary: a very delightful read Review: This story is very well written and had me captivated from start to finish. Terrible things happen to good people and faiths are tested. However, out of a tragedy something good emmerges (Race and Rebbecca, who are are one of those couples you just love to cheer for). Race manages with patience and kindness to overcome some of Rebecca's fears. I especially like the scene where Race finally makes love to Rebbecca. It was handled with just the right mix of humor, passion and love.
Rating: Summary: A novel to cherish. Review: This was a wonderful, heartwarming book. I loved the descriptions, they were so descriptive that I could see it all before me. Catherine Anderson is a great author and Cherish lives up to her clame to fame. The hero Race Spencer, despite a painful past, is so sweet you will want him for yourself. And Rebecca, while fragile in appearance, is stronger than she thinks. Read it, you won't be disapointed.
