Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Five stars for the excellent first part and beautiful start Review: two for a tiresome middle in finally resolving their relationship, etc. and three 1/2 for the end. Overall? A quivering four.I loved the beginning - fresh, easy to read, delightful story of Tatiana, a seventeen year old kid (I was at first surprised to find her and her older sister sticking their tongues out at each other or her hopping out of bed dressed as well as waking at noon - until i realized that me and my sisters (same sort of age range) tend to do the same :)). THen comes the soldier ALexander (who has a deep secret) and the story is still cute and interesting - even when you realise theres going to be a love triangle. But at one point (probably when he goes to rescue her when she goes on her rescue attempt) it begins to crumble, the writing falters, the characters misunderstandings go on and on, the cussing starts up and there's a tedious chunk of sex. BUT I will say that I did like the parts of Alexander in the army - as unrealistic or silly as it might be (as are some stuff Tatiana does)- and reading about them in Leningrad does tend to freeze and starve you (esp. if you're reading in the dead of night ;), while some of the emotions continue to be touching . . . I'd say the setting was deliciously historical and Russian but otherwise the story plot is mainly for (dare i say sappy?)romantics. Most likely you'll either love it or hate it. If you read this, expect to read the sequel. It may be set more in America than elsewhere though if it is i confess i'll miss seeing Russia through the authors eyes. Now I'm eager to go there.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Best Book Ever!!! Review: I have read all the classic books from Alexandre Dumas to Jane Austen, but not one book has brought me inside its pages. I just couldn't put the book down and with that I finished it in 2 days! The story is so passionate yet so tragic, makes you smile at times and even cry. When I was finished, I just continued thinking about it, I still couldn't get it out of my mind! It is beautifully written and so compelling, this is by far one of the best books on the shelf of my library.I recommend this book to everyone, it will teach you that the human heart has no limits. I truly hope that there will be a sequel, if not, I will start re-reading it again!!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A must read! Review: I have read every single book by Paullina Simons and I must say that the Bronze Horseman was one of her best. I could not put this book down and read it every night. You felt as if you were back in time along with the characters of this unbelievable book. I had tears rolling down my face as I finished the final sentence and wished it would have continued on for many more pages. Kudos to Paullina and I look forward to her next book!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I could not put it down Review: If you read one love story this year, then read The Bronze Horseman. I absolutely could not put this book down. The characters are so rich and so real as well as the seige of Leningrad and the horrible conditions that existed there during WWII. I could not put the book down - I just wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen next to Tatiana and Alexander. The story shows that love and the human spirit can not be denied.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A not-to-miss historical novel set in WWII Russia Review: This is a really interesting book of the Soviet Union during World War II. I found this book at a bookstore and after reading the first few sentences couldn't put it down. The author's writing really draws you in; you really get to know the characters, and begin to feel as if you are really there seeing and living through the Siege of Leningrad/St. Petersburg. And Communist Russia. The main characters story is very absorbing and DEMANDS a sequel - which luckily we shall be getting called The Bridge to Holy Cross (to be published sometime in 2003).
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: i continue to be completely mesmerized by this book Review: my sister recommended this book to me and compared it with dr. zhivago. reading it myself, i was completely overwhelmed by my strong feelings for the characters and this book. when it was done, i cried and continued to read and reread the end of the book looking for more. i have just discovered that the sequel, tatiana & alexander will be published in early 2003 and am beyond excited. i can't wait to begin the journey again. this is definitely the best book i have read and the book that has affected me like no other.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: This book is painfully stupid and sappy! Review: This is hands down the worst book I have ever read. There is abostuletly no character development, the characters are ..., and as a reader you don't really like or sympathize with any of the characters.... Due to the lack of character development, the story line is implausible and laughable. This book is a poorly written harlequin romance novel set in Russia. Don't waste your time reading it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: One of my favorites! Review: The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons is one of the best books I've ever read. One of her other books, Tully, is actually my most favorite. The love story in the Bronze Horseman makes this book hard to put down. It's a love store without all that sappy generic stuff. This book made me more interested in Russia, Russian history, and I have even started learning the Russian language as a result! I love this book.
