Summary: TOTALLY AWESOME! WONDERFUL!
Review: ONCE A PIRATE was such a refreshing change from the run of the mill time travel books! Susan Grant was able to transport me into the story and make me believe I was actually on the ship with Carly and Andrew. This was a light-hearted romp through time, and I enjoyed the concept of a woman fighter pilot ending up on a Pirate ship - completely out of her element, yet able to cope. Ms. Grant has a way of writing that made me smell the salty sea air and feel the salt spray on my face - and feel Carly and Andrew's emotions. The ending was such a complete surprise that it left me shaking my head in wonderment. As an author, she is a combination of Deb Stover and Sandra Hill, but has her own unique way of telling a story. I can hardly wait to read other books by her. She should go far.

Summary: A satisfying read
Review: Overall, I enjoyed this book. It grabs your attention from the beginning and does a fairly decent job of holding it. I liked both of the romantic characters, and I enjoyed the fact that the woman, Carly, had some of the objects from her time still on her possession when she went back in time. That helped to add more intrigue to the story and keep it fresh. I also appreciated the fact that Carly acted like what she was, a modern day woman -- even though she found herself in the past. And more importantly, Andrew didn't seem to mind her "different" ways at all.

Despite all that is likeable about this book, it wasn't the best romance novel I've ever read. While the characters liked each other, I didn't feel that "electricity" between them that I like in such stories. Because of this, the book wasn't as good as I had expected from the reviews. But nonetheless, it is a good story and it is worth reading.

Summary: The best in time travel romance
Review: Part of a jet fighter squadron flying towards the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, experienced Navy pilot Lieutenant Carly Callahan struggled with a nasty storm. Things turn worse when her radar fails and the twin engines of her F018C fighter flame out next. Forced to bail out into the icy Atlantic, Carly soon observes wooden ships in battle. Sir Andrew Spencer and his pirates pluck Carly out of the sea.

Andrew believes he has captured Lady Amanda Paxton, the fiancee of his enemy, the Duke of Westbridge, even if she fails to fit the description he has of her. Carly insists she is a US navy officer, but Andrew rejects her nonsense as gibberish even as he cannot understand who is "O.K." and "Ray Dio". When Carly sees a newspaper dated 1821 and other evidence, she concludes that somehow she landed in the past. As they sail to obtain her ransom, Andrew and Carly fall in love, but the obstinate Adonis not only distrusts that emotion, he cannot accept that she is from a future that allows a woman to fly in combat.

ONCE A PIRATE is an enjoyable time travel romance due to the reactions of the lead characters to one another and their situation as Carly's survival training is tested. Still, the plot belongs to both lead characters, as they struggle with her displacement and their love for one another. Susan Grant casts quite a spell on her audience with this superb debut novel that will have sub-genre fans seeking her newer work, the recently released THE STAR KING.

Summary: A truly wonderful story
Review: The main characters in this book are written as warm, witty, sexy, adventureous, and very believable. The love that builds between the two is unique and romantic. The story flows evenly so that you won't want to put it down. Not once did I feel the dialogue was out of place or inappropriate. The steamy love scenes were also loving and sensual. No purple prose to ruin it. I cannot wait for another book of Ms. Grant's. She seems to have quite talent for time travel and LOVE stories. If you like a book that makes you laugh, cry, and sigh; then this is a book for you.

Summary: Wow! I want to be a pilot!
Review: This book was such fun, made me want to find my local recruiter and sign on the dotted line. Of course, only if I can meet a hunk like Andrew. Susan Grant's book is a great read. You'll love Carly and of course the hero, plus the fast paced action. Don't miss this one. Can't wait for more by this author.

Summary: Once A Pirate
Review: This is an extremely well written Time Travel. I could feel the fear as the heroine's plane went down and feel the sand between my toes as she walked on the island and the love scenes were delicious. Ms. Grant touches the heart, and other parts<g>, with her gift for finding just the right words.

Summary: Very good
Review: This is one of the best time-travel stories I have read. I found the means by which Carly travels thru time much more realistic than the usual amulet or spell. She was a very independent and modern woman, and that made for some very funny situations with Andrew. Our hero is ALL pirate! My only disappointment was how long it took them to get together after Andrew realized Carly was not Amanda. The end of this book is terrific, and has a unique resolution to the story. If you like time-travel, this is a wonderful one. KCS

Summary: Great!
Review: This one is sexy and touching. I like all kinds of romance. Everything from Lindsey to Feehan. A true test for me is does it keep you turning pages and hoping it will never end. I put Susan Grant way up on my list of favorite authors such as Howard, Brown, Rogers and many others including my latest Fun, sexy read, "Anything, My Love" by Cynthia Simmons. The romance you want the heros you'll love.
