Rating: Summary: Not really what I expected Review: After reading all of the reviews on this book I was expecting it to be a lot more intriguing than what it was. Everywhere I read, it was given glorious reviews. I guess I was expecting to find it as captivating as everyone else apparently did because I tend to agree with Amazon's customers 99% of the time. I guess this is the 1% where I don't.The book was OK, but it is not one for my keeper shelf. It was, at best, a one time read.
Rating: Summary: What fun! Review: After reading way too many boring books on vacation I finally picked up this one. Lots of smiles! I especially enjoyed the way the author showed a modern woman like us standing up for herself on a ship full of pirates. Fun, fun, fun!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful, exciting, inspiring read! Review: Author Susan Grant has the unique ability to write a novel encompassing two time periods with beauty and mystery and make it totally believable! She has truly been blessed. Though I don't believe in reincarnation, I do believe in miracles. Once A Pirate was full of them.

Rating: Summary: A MUST READ Review: For all time travel readers, historical romance aficionados and lovers of the sea Once a Pirate is a MUST READ! Susan Grant captures the essence of a woman military pilot (I know because I was one) and places her in the arms of a rogue who will surely melt your heart. Her historical research is impeccable, every line of life on the sea authenticated by a historian of the era. You'll feel the sea rise and fall and tropical breezes from Emerald Isle will caress your skin. Susan artfully works the time travel element into the story, catching your breath with all its possibilities. Don't miss this one!
Rating: Summary: An awesome read - very entertaining Review: For those of you who have become bored with some of the time travel books written in the past several years -- REJOICE! ONCE A PIRATE is one of most original and fun time travels to come along in many moons! Anyone who wants a quick, thoroughly entertaining read need look no further. Read and enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: Great romance novel. Plausible plot and fast paced storyline. Heroine is spunky, but not overly so. Hero is perfect, but not too perfect as to be unbelievable. I really, really loved this book and I am very, very picky. I could not put the book down...finished it in one day. Had humor, romance (not porn), and suspense. What more can I say?
Rating: Summary: Wonderful&refreshing, a talented author makes a GRAND debut Review: I absolutely love(d) ONCE A PIRATE! I couldn't put it down! The ending was just great... I did wonder if Carly would get "zapped" "back to the future" but figured she and Andrew would be reunited somehow, somewhere. Susan, your ending was so PERFECT and unique, but I'll say no more lest it spoils it for anyone else's enjoyment. It does seem to me that pirate ships (or any ships in the 1800's & before, for that matter) were out to sea for a long time, and the people on the ship(s) were, well, stuck there for months on end at times, especially when they hit the doldrums. Ms. Grant's talent really drew me into the story and the characters. The setting was very real and it was easy to capture the sense of intimate living... the captain and his crew, passengers (if any) forced to live in pretty close quarters. They didn't have the luxury of those on land who could travel to London or to the western US or even about a large estate. I agree with the wonderfully written reviews from Port Ludlow, WA and from TN. And I'm no relation to Ms Grant. :) If you haven't tried a Time Travel or in the past haven't cared for Time Travel, please give this fun, well-written debut novel a try! I'm looking forward to SG's next release with baited breath!

Rating: Summary: A FABULOUS READ Review: I found this TT to be absolutely delightful! Not only was thisromance satisfying, but it was extremely well-written andwell-crafted. (I'd been put off by poorly written time travels in the past.) For this reason, Grant has joined my small list of "must-buys." The characters were vivid, and elicited the exact emotion I'm sure the author intended: love, hate, tenderness, compassion, and revenge. Sadly, I almost didn't buy this book, based on June's review below. June, you were not misled. Whether you enjoy a book or not is a matter of taste. If you were expecting 400 pages of bickering crowned by the Big Misunderstanding (judging by your five-star reviews), I can see why you were disappointed. This is a grown-up romance, you see, a wonderful surprise from an author I'd never heard of, but whom I'm certain will make a wonderful name for herself in the future. Her next book looks equally intriguing. I shall look forward to it.
