Rating: Summary: 5th Installment in the "Night" Series Review: It's Nora. It's good.I really liked Jonah and Ally and their chemistry together. And after reading the previous reviews, yes, this is reminiscent of Roake and Eve. I love them also! This is a fast read with humor, passion, family and action. Secondary characters were very good also and as a previous reviewer said for a 'short' novel this packs a lot of information. I read Night Tales first and would advise you to also. Not to follow the story, but you will make it convenient for yourself to start that book immediately when you have finished this one. So, just make your life simplier...read Night Tales first. Then sit back and enjoy Night Shields.
Rating: Summary: Going! Going! Gone! Review: Nora Roberts just hit another out of the park with all bases loaded and the bottom of the ninth inning. Well, we've come to expect that from a heavy hitter like Roberts. She's tough up in the cut. When we expect that she has to have at least one loser, she whips out her bat and sails another one over the fence. When you're good, you're good, but when Roberts writes, she unbeatable!
Rating: Summary: Romance and dark knight in Night Shield Review: Nora Roberts once weaves her magic again in NIGHT SHIELD and the book is at once smouldering hot with sizzling sexual tension sparking between Allison Fletcher and Jonah Blackhawk. Ally is suitably dignified as the heroine, who is outspoken and refreshingly frank and takes bravely the initiative. She is unlike any romance heroine that looks hung up on the closet - but is aptly intelligent and aggressive, grabbing the chance of love when she sees it. The plot revolves around a burglary ring that is suspected to be entrenched in the glitzy night bars owned by Jonah. Allison works as an undercover, but soon discovers that she is often distracted by the handsome Jonah who gets on her nerves. Nora Roberts is proficient in her narration and wastes no time on unnecessary plot details and indulges readers with crackling sexual tension. Despite this, NIGHT SHIELD is not devoid of emotions too, and it is most touching to see Cilla, Ally's mother's acceptance of Jonah into the big family. Jonah, beliving that Ally and him are of distanced background, remains detached but soon are drawn into this irrevocable chemistry. NIGHT SHIELD blends action and hot romance into a delightful read that will definitely last you through the night.
Rating: Summary: Not her best Review: Perhaps because she IS Nora Roberts, my expectations were very high. This book didn't have the tension, the expectation, the incredible pull between the characters before they succumb to each other. Usually, a NR book has you right in the midst of an incredible passion between the characters. In Night Shield, I didn't get that feeling. Jonah could have been an interesting character, with some read depth, like Slade in "Playing the Odds" or Trace in "Without a Trace"; unique, even disreputable in some eyes, but with a huge amount of magnetism. Jonah didn't quite hit the mark. Allison wasn't quite there, either. Usually, I can identify and empathize with a NR heroine; not so with Ally. I found her rather butch without the feminizing character of her other heroines - even those who have found themselves in dangerous situations and who were very strong women. NR did a much better job with an "aggressive" heroine in "Waiting For Nick". Yes, Ally cried, but she didn't really need Jonah except physically. Their first physical encounter seemed just that, physical. That underlying tension, relentless desire, and pull which the character and the reader know and feel just wasn't there. Three stars for a NR book will still be better than someone else's four stars, but because I have read just about every series romance she has ever written, I expected more from her. Read Cilla and Boyd's story and compare. I think you'll see what I mean.
Rating: Summary: a good story Review: Set in downtown Denver, Jonah the cool and sexy night club owner finds out his clubs are being used in numerous robberies. Ally is the beautiful cop on the case, and the daughter of the polie Commissioner. But Jonah had a troubled past when the Commissioner, then a street cop helped him get out of trouble. Now Jonah owes the Commissioner everything, even a favor to let the pretty cop into his night club to try to catch the bad guys. The heat turns up between the two. This is a pretty entertaining book with a good story and lots of background information to make the characters real.

Rating: Summary: Fast Read, but Still Wonderful Review: There is nothing I like more than finding a Nora Roberts book that is a fast read that will fill in the waiting time between her longer novels. This one did not dissapoint. I enjoyed the tension between Allison the cop and Jonah the nightclub owner. In typical Nora Roberts style the emotions are realistic and the characters are easy to put yourself into their place. A sure winner in my book.
Rating: Summary: another great book by nora roberts Review: This book was great. I loved the characters. I also like the mystery involved in it.
Rating: Summary: First Roberts book, won't be last Review: This is my first Nora Roberts and it won't be the last! I have been reading romance for 15 years but have always been avoiding her as she seems to come out with more sequels and series than anybody that I know of. Like some, I didn't know this is the continuation of the "Night Tales" series and read it first. So I am off to look for the first 4 stories that preceded this. The tension between Ally and Jonah was palpable from their first encounter. The latter is the kind of to-die-for hero that romance readers want for themselves - chivalrous, caring and sexy to the tips of his toes! Ally is oh-so-serious, long-legged and off-limits to Jonah, but he just can't seem to help himself. As a rule, he swears off cops and commitment. When it comes to Ally, however, his opinions and pre-conceptions are thrown out the window. The romantic suspense works well in this instalment. One also encounters characters from the previous offerings in a Sunday barbecue, which is fairly reminiscent of "A Game of Chance" by Linda Howard, having the similar get-together theme in its story, being the last in its series.
Rating: Summary: Can you ever go wrong Review: With the talented Ms. Roberts I loved this book because it continued the "Night" series I read the first book in the night series when I was 15 I started searching for the rest I enjoys Nora there is just no stopping her. The hero and heroine both have there moments but they make a winning pair.
