Rating: Summary: A Fun and Exciting read! Review: "Night Shield" is the 5th book in the "Night Tales" series and it is great! Jonah Blackhawk owns a string of successful nightclubs in Denver. He has made something out of his life after a tough childhood because of one cop who never gave up on him, Boyd Fletcher (Night Shift). Jonah feels that he is forever in Boyd's debt for saving him from the streets, so when Boyd asks Jonah for help solving a case, Jonah cannot refuse. It appears that thieves responsible for a growing number of high-end burglaries are using Jonah's club to find their victims. Jonah is prepared to deal with this, but he isn't prepared for the Detective assigned to the case, gorgeous Allison Fletcher, Boyd's daughter. Ally goes undercover at the nightclub, but working in such close proximity with Jonah causes all kinds of sparks to fly. Things between these two heat up fast, and though Jonah does not want to disrespect Boyd, he finds Allison irresistible. This romance is sexy and fun. Ally and Jonah fall head over heels in love, but before they can find happiness with each other they must survive an encounter with a desperate and dangerous madman! This book contains a perfect blend of steamy romance and suspense, woven into an original and exciting plot. "Night Shield" is fun-filled and fast-paced, with well-developed and likeable characters. A family BBQ provides the reader a chance to visit with the characters from the previous "Night Tales" stories, which is a special treat. I guarantee that this book will not disappoint!

Rating: Summary: A welcome addition to the "Night" series Review: "Night Shield", the newly penned addition to the "Night Tales" collection, is probably the best book of the bunch. Many years after the first tale was told, Boyd Fletcher's daughter Allison has followed in his footsteps and become a detective in the Denver PD. Her first big case is to investigate a string of high-profile burglaries, and to do so she has to go undercover at a nightclub/restaurant where she believes the "marks" are being made. This involves securing the cooperation of the club's owner, Jonah Blackhawk, a troubled teen-turned-self-made-businessman who has a general dislike for police. This tale is very rich in the telling and has an added element in that Ally's father was instrumental in helping young Jonah turn his life around. Jonah consequently feels he has a debt to pay to Boyd and, at the same time, isn't at all sure how he feels about getting involved with Boyd's daughter. This is a very enjoyable "chapter" in the Night Tales collection.
Rating: Summary: Night provides a cover that makes anything possible Review: A rash of nighttime burglaries in Denver forces Detective Allison Fletcher to go undercover at Blackhawk's, a swanky nightclub and the only repetitive link among the majority of the crimes committed. When Police Commissioner, Boyd Fletcher, asks owner, Jonah Blackhawk to protect Allison's cover, he gets a reluctant agreement that is prompted by what Blackhawk perceives to be an old debt. Allison's aggressiveness and her dedication to her job are two things that rub Jonah wrong about her. But when he finds himself falling fast in love with her, he finds himself unable to emotionally backpedal from her despite his certainty that he is the wrong man for her. When Allison looks at Jonah, however, she sees more than he gives himself credit for. As a truant who was reformed by her own father over the years, she has always felt a little jealous of the bond they shared. But when Allison gets to know Jonah, she quickly learns to see beyond the hard shell he presents to the soft heart he possesses. Soon, she finds herself sharing her love of sports, her love of family, and her heart with him. This is a wonderful sequel to the original Night Tales written by Nora Roberts. Both Allison and Jonah are well written characters whose dedication to the people they love is admirable. Allison is a strong woman and it is clear that she has to be, in order to do her job. She has grown up with a supportive family and the wealth of love and money that came with it. Jonah works best at night with his informal family of reformed truants and victims. After being reformed by Allison's father, he unconsciously followed in Boyd's footsteps in order to help his friends to a legally rewarding way of life. Jonah truly is a softhearted man beneath the tough exterior. Perhaps it is because he knows this, however much he wishes to deny it, that he is resistant when Allison invites him to become a part of her family. Roberts makes it easy to care about Jonah whose soft heart makes it impossible for him to withdraw from the Fletchers and their extended family and Allison with her strong sense of determination which makes it impossible for Jonah to throw up any walls between them.
Rating: Summary: A great NIGHT's read! Review: Allison Fletcher is going undercover at Jonah Blackhawk's bar...but she wasn't looking to go under covers. But there was something about Jonah that caught her buy surprise. An attraction too big to be denied. Jonah doesn't like most cops as a rule. And yet there's something about Allison that makes him forget she carries a badge...makes him forget just about everything. He's not sure if that's a good thing, or not, but he seems helpless to fight the feeling. And Jonah doesn't like to be helpless. Allison and Jonah have to solve a series or burglaries, while they try to solve the intricacies of their hearts. This is a wonderful brand new addition to the Night Tales series, and there are plenty of cameos to thrill the most ardent fans.

Rating: Summary: Another "Night" series winner Review: Allison Fletcher, daughter of Boyd and Cilla Fletcher, has just earned her Detective's badge and her father, Boyd who is the Commissioner, assigns her to a case. The case involves a series of robberies perpetrated against high-income professionals in the Denver area. The common thread in the crimes is that most of the people who were robbed had enjoyed an evening out on the town at a club named Blackhawks. Jonah Blackhawk has a history with Boyd Fletcher. When Boyd was in uniform Blackhawk was a JD that Boyd picked up from the streets, saw his potential and encouraged him to make something of himself. Sparks fly when Allison, Ally, is assigned to work undercover in Blackhawks as a waitress while trying to discover the link between the robberies and the club. Night Shield brings back all the starring characters from the Night Tales series and allows the reader to catch up on their lives and the lives of their children. It's a great read written with Nora Robert's great style and flair. A definite must for NR fans and for those who love the entire "Night" series.
Rating: Summary: Snappy and Sexy, this is Nora Roberts at her best! Review: Ally and Jonah remind me alot of Dallas and Roarke from JD Robb's "IN DEATH" Series books. However, Night Shield is perfect for those who want a taste of the JD Robb books without all the darkness of blood and gore. I L-O-V-E-D this book! This book covered more action and romance than some full length novels I've read. There were no wasted words and fillers. Everytime Ally was around Jonah, you could almost see the sparks fly with the snappy comebacks and the body heat they generated. I'll have to read it again, this time to remember some of the clever dialogue. I always feel cheated, like I got short sheeted or got only half a meal leaving me still hungry when I read books of this length but not so with Night Shield. When I finished this book, I felt full and satisfied like I got a 5 course meal. Night Shield is Nora Roberts at her best and is now one of my favorite romances. I can't recommend this book enough to anyone who wants to read a sexy romance with clever dialogue and action.

Rating: Summary: WOW! WHAT AGREAT STORY! Review: I am sorry that I didn't purchase Night Tales first,I didn't realize that it was a sequel to the other books, but this story was so good. It made me feel so good reading the play between the two main characters. It was good to see the woman as the aggressor for a change and go after what she wanted no matter what, and then to get him. The secondary characters kept the story moving. I like a romance novel where there is no separation between the two main characters. They totally communicated with each other and everything was always out in the open. The story moved so smoothly that I was sad when it ended. This book is not one that you will want to put down. It is a quick read but it is so good. This is only my second Nora Roberts novel, the first being "The Perfect Neighbor". Ms. Roberts you have definitely won me as a fan.
