Summary: I have read and re-read this book and want to review it!
Review: This is, in my opinion, one of the best historical novels I have ever read. It is certainly Ms. Henley's best work. This book will not disappoint!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Fantastic! Couldn't put it down!
Review: This story was Perfect! Ruark is a true dream man! Summer, she was the perfect match for him! Rory was quite spectacular as well (hmmm...wonder why?)I love reading of willfull, headstrong women and dominating men...they eventually come to a draw - but getting there is half the fun. Virginia is detailed right down to the food the characters eat, beautiful fashions, hot & steamy passions - she doesnt leave anything out. Piracy, plague, sex, intrigue and binding love - Virginia's a master at her craft. I love all of her books and there is no comparison to her writing style!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good story - don't always like the characters
Review: This was a good story and Ms. Henley is know for that. The only thing that I could not say about this book is that I liked the main characters. They did things that were silly and caused a lot of drama by not talking about their problems. I found that I wanted to slap Cat and Ru on a number of occasions, but I still kept reading. In fact, I have read it twice.

Summary: This book was very exciting, full of twists and changes.
Review: This was an excellent book, that really keeps you reading. I couldn't put it down. It was so suspenseful, and the characters were full of life. There were some really interesting twists to the plot, which in itself was exciting with non-stop adventure and romance. The characters were well-rounded so you felt you really knew them, until of course you find out you really didn't.

Summary: A Five Star Romance
Review: This was my first Virginia Henley novel and after reading this in one sitting, I became a devoted Virginia Henley fan. However, I searched desperately to find other novels penned by the author and was disappointed in finding that few if any, were written with the passion of "Pirate and Pagan". 'Pirate and Pagan' is a truly passionate, humorous, exciting and sensual novel. Ruark and Summer are fire and oil, inflaming each other constantly. However, the beginning of their whirlwind romance was difficult for me to grasp; Ruark being the most eligible bachelor falling for such an innocent as Summer, whom lured him as if she was 'fly fishing'. And it was difficult for me to accept her supposedly affair with Ruark's brother, and he accepting her infidelity. What manner of man would accept his wife's infidelity, even if he was her secret lover in reality? But if you enjoy a woman whom fights with everything she has, then you'll enjoy 'Pirate and the Pagan'.

Summary: Touched My Life Like No Other Book Has!
Review: Virginia Henley is a genius! Never have I read a novel so enchanting, that I couldn't put it down. It truly touched my heart in a way no other story has. I'd never read a book more than once before I read The Pirate and the Pagan, but I've read this one more times than I can count and I am enchanted all over again everytime I read it. It grabs you and pulls you in with it twists and turns. Before you know it, you're reading a romance novel unlike any other you've ever read before. Thank you Virginia and keep writing fantastic novels like this one!

Summary: Truly Magnificent!!!
Review: Virginia Henley is one of the few authors that in my oppinion can write a perfect book and Pirate and the Pagan is definitely one of them. Words cannot express how much I loved this book. Simply perfection! I could not put it down once I picked it up. Ruark and Rory will make your blood turn to fire and Summer/Cat will enchant you. Virginia, if you are out there, please write more like Pirate and the Pagan, Raven and the Rose, Falcon and the Flower and Dragon and the Jewel. They are unsurpassable!

Summary: A book of epic proportions
Review: What I love the most about this novel is that it avoids all the cliches that many romance novels have. The plot is intense and interesting. I loved Summer's character. She was wild and yet strangely independent. A great novel to read. Virginia Henley is the only author I read when it comes to the romance novel calibre
