Rating: Summary: It's exactly what it should be! Review: Some people are offended by the sex and loose morals of the main characters in this novel. Quite frankly, most historical romances have the same kinds of plots. There is little difference in what characters in these novels do. This being said, Virigia Henley's work is rather unique. She has made the delibrate decision to not only write about factual beings, but also the research she has done is quite accurate. The characters managed to have some vitality and uniqueness that belies convention. Not all romance heroines are brave and not all of them are practical. For people who find this novel dull. I would question their exspectations of the genre. Afterall, we all know they end up together, it's discovering how they do and the passion of being together that we love to read. This book has that in abundance. Besides, Ms. Henley also manages to get the culture. literature, and social issues that few novels of any kind manage to do. The blending of these two together is a perfect match.
Rating: Summary: Riveting twists, incredible passion. Review: Summer is headstrong, with a fire in her heart and a will of her own! She knows what she wants. The two men that love her have deep character and incredible passion. Still, she does not anticipate the magnitude of their impact on her life - and what she will go through to find out which one has the courage to make her his own.
Rating: Summary: ITS SO FULL OF LOVE AND TWIST. Review: Summer is so brave. She is full of courage and love. She is so strong yet vulnerable. I didn't realise that Rory was Ruark because I was so captivated by Rory charms and passion towards Summer make me really thought they were actually not the same person. Rory and Ruark the one man so strong yet so gentle. Virginia Henley, I love reading your pirate and pagan.
Rating: Summary: Nothing but Frangipani Review: The Pirate and the Pagan was the first book I ever read and now I live for every new V.H. publication. Ruark and Summer bring out the pagan in me...and nothing but Frangipani!
Rating: Summary: Another dynamite story by Virginia Henely Review: There is no romance novelist quite like Virginia Henley. I have read and reread everyone of her books at least 5 times They always make me laugh and cry. I can never put them down once I start reading them. I have read other romances by other authors and they just seem to pale in comparison to Virginia Henley's novels. This is an exceptionally wonderful story. Summer and Ruark are just fabulous, and I wish the story could go on...
Rating: Summary: The best historical romance I have ever read! Review: This book is a rollercoaster of emotions. It is brilliant the way Ms. Henley makes Ruark/Rory so different from each other but one in their love for Summer. Both men separately are any woman's dream man but when put together Ruark/Rory makes anyone want to scream with pure joy. I laughed when Summer sleeps with Rory thinking that he was Ruark and I cried when Ruark sees the cell in which Summer had been prisoner and he stats to weep. The love/hate ralationship that Summer has with both men is simply histerical. I loved every word of this book and I highly recomend it.
Rating: Summary: I experienced every emotion known to a woman while reading Review: This book is beautiful, maddening, poignant. I have read and reread this book countless number of times. Ms. Henley- you are a romantic genius, and I have read almost all of your novels- Please DONT EVER STOP WRITING!!! I cried, I laughed and I had so many mixed emotions about Ruark Rory and Summer until i found out that Rory and Ruark were the same person. You have pinpointed the very real life theme of deception and fickle, but then my heart filled with joy and my eyes were brimming with tears as Rory/Ruark and Summer reunite. You also depict how people have many different sides and you may never be lucky enough to see all of them.I loved the line..." melted like snow in Summer" how beautiful! Ms. Henley you have deeply affected me with your novels.
Rating: Summary: BEAUTIFUL Review: THIS BOOK IS FUNNY AND SO TOUCHING NEAR THE END
Rating: Summary: AWESOME READ!! Review: This book was the first "historical romance" I have ever read. One I got started, I could not put it down! Stayed up until 4:00am just so I could see how it ended. V.H. wrote this book with such a passion between Summer and Ruark that it jumped off the pages. Since this book I have read several historical romances and most have been fluffy and predictable. The Pirate and the Pagan has much more substance and less predictability. If you plan to read this book, do not read through all the reviews; too many people gave away too much good info that really makes the story.
Rating: Summary: This book will NOT dissapoint you! It's great! Review: This book will shock you to your toes, but you'll love it from beginning to end. I know I did!
