Rating: Summary: Pure magic Review: "The Legend MacKinnon" is a keeper. I wish there were more books like this one. There isn't enough heros like Duncan, Maggie and Rory.
Rating: Summary: Complex otherworldly romance Review: Three hundred years ago, the plan for peace between the two Scottish clans was a simple one that would have worked. Three MacKinnon brothers (Duncan, Rory, an Alexander) were to marry Claren clan members, thus, binding the two groups through marriage and children. However, just prior to the wedding, one of the grooms vanished. Each clan blamed the other and for the next three centuries the feud intensified. Late in the twentieth century, Maggie Claren flees from her dangerous former fiancé to an isolated cabin she just inherited. There she meets the ghost of Duncan. At the same time, her cousin Claren meets Rory, who is afflicted with wearying immortality. Another cousin, Delaney, finds Alexander, an individual catapulted from the past. Apparently, someone placed a successful curse on the three MacKinnon siblings and only an unknown key can break the spell. As the three couples fall in love, the feud between the clans seems over or perhaps history is to repeat itself by starting the conflict over again. THE LEGEND MACKINNON is an extremely complex otherworldly romance that would collapse under the trio of tales if attempted by anyone with less talent than the gifted Donna Kauffman. Instead, the story line with the three prime sub-plots dexterously binds into one dramatic main tale that the audience will devour. The six lead characters are fully developed (no easy trick) and their motives read loud and clear. Any reader who relishes an elaborate but entertaining paranormal romance that feels real needs to peruse THE LEGEND MACKINNON, which may be the start of the legend Kauffman. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: This spring's keeper romance Review: Deeply moving, beautifully written. Three love stories that will stay with you long after you turn the last page.
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: Donna Kauffman has the magic touch. She can weave a timeless story like no other. Known for writing category romances for Loveswept, she is now writing single titles.TLM was a book I could not put down. It's a magically story of 2 rival Scottish clans who's destinies are forever linked. 3 beautiful independent cousins, unknown to each other, are about to meet. And at the same time these Claren cousins, Maggie, Cailean, and Delaney Claren meet they also come face to face with 3 brothers from the rival MacKinnon clan. The catch is the Clearn cousins live in 1999 and the MacKinnon men lived 300 years ago. You will be enchanted with Duncan the ghost, the immortal Rory, and Alexander who was sent thru time to the future. Together they search for the key to release a curse put on their clans three centuries ago. I can guarantee whoever picks up this passionate romance will not be disappointed. There is a little something for everyone in this multi-faceted romance, including contemporary, historical, time travel and paranormal. It's a great read! Pass it on!
Rating: Summary: Every Romance Readers Dream!! Review: Donna Kauffman makes the transition from series romance to single title with a bang. Three Scottish Warriors in kilts, three likeable heroines, a mystery to solve, and great romance. Who could ask for more?
Rating: Summary: Delightful! Review: I am always looking for good paranormal romance to read, and my, this is a wonderful find. Three heroes: an immortal, a ghost, a time traveller, all Scottish to boot. How can I resist? The story is fast-paced and exciting, complete with treasure hunt and legends and prophecies. I am never bored with this story. As this is a heavily edited book from a much longer original version, characterisation sometimes suffer. Duncan, for one, is a bit of a donkey. And I barely know Alex. But still, a wonderful read indeed.
Rating: Summary: Worth reading Review: I enjoyed this book very much, although at times I wasn't certain I would because it took me time to warm up to Cailean and Delaney, two of the Claren sisters. The relationship between Delaney and Alexander seemed too rushed and almost contrived to fit into the ending which came too quickly after their romance got started. I would have liked the book to continue for a few more chapters after their relationship developed. That being said, I would recommend reading this book. It keeps you interested in finding out how the Clarens and Mackinnon's are going to solve the problem of the curse on their clans and how the love between the characters will survive. I loved the reunion between the brothers. I could just picture it while reading and would have loved to have been there to see it!

Rating: Summary: What an original idea! Review: I have always enjoyed the paranormal and I have always enjoyed Scottish love stories. Reading the two together has been a favorite of mine since I started reading historical romance so long ago. BUT I have never had the pleasure to read a story involving six main characters including a Ghost, an Immortal and a Time Traveler, not to mention a seer thrown in for good measure! Each couple was as different as night and day but as strong as one another. This book has everything and the most important part is that it works! BRAVO!
Rating: Summary: Entertaining and original romance Review: I picked up this book because of the great reviews it had gotten, and generally the book was as good as its press. In particular, the plot is original and engaging, and the characters are likable. However, I got the sense that this book was originally intended to be three series books, instead of one historical romance. Maybe that was why the characters seem to fall in love (and into bed) so fast. If you blink, you'll miss the development of the romance. Despite this criticism, I'll be on the look out for Kauffman's next book.
