Summary: Quite a disappointment for McNaught fans
Review: Judith McNaught is, by far, my favorite all-time author. That said, I was very disappointed to find that her long-awaited book was of the mystery/suspense genre. In my opinion, it is not her strength. It was an enjoyable read, but not up to her usual standards. The plot was bogged down with tons of police room banter and lacked character background.

Judith McNaught is THE BEST romance writer ever. Her romances have unforgettable characters and beautifully developed plots. Please write us a new romance!!!

(I feel like a traitor to write a luke warm review about an author for whom I have the utmost respect.)

Summary: Another entertaining book by Judith McNaught
Review: I had been waiting for this book to come out after reading a Chapter 1 excerpt of "Water's Edge" at the end of "Double Standards." It took forever for "Water's Edge" to become "Someone to Watch Over Me" and I was so glad when it finall came out. Lately I seem to have read a lot of books about older, long-time married women finding out their husbands aren't what they thought and/or having their husbands disappear on them. However, the beautiful story between Leigh and Michael was just so sweet I had to keep reading! I've read all of Judith McNaught's books - "Whitney, My Love" is probably my favorite book ever - and I thought this one was great! Not the best, but definately worth the read.

Summary: Good Enough to Keep Reading-But Not the Best
Review: I like this book just okay. The beginning was much better than the latter part of the book. It seemed the last 250 pages drug by.

When the rich successful husband of a beautiful New York actress mysteriously disappears, Leigh plunges into a desparate search and tries to find him. She falls into a menacing web of secrets, deception, and danger.

Leigh Kendall reveled in her stellar Broadway acting career and in her marriage to Logan Manning, scion of an old New York family. When her husband finds an old country cabin he decides to build their dream house and surprise Leigh with her first view of the mountain property. After a Sunday night performance, Leigh heads north to join him, and into a blinding blizzard. Lost and alone, she's run off the road and wakes up in the local hospital very injured. The police arrive to inform her that he has mysteriously disappeared and Leigh, although obviously distraught, becomes the focus of their suspicions.

The more Leigh discovers about her husband and his business affairs, the less she realizes she ever knew about the real Logan Manning. Now with no one to help her, she is heading deeper into unknown territory where friends and enemies are hard to distinquish and the truth becomes the most terrifying reality of all!

Summary: Not her best, but still a good read
Review: As a big Judith McNaught fan, I also have been waiting anxiously for this book to come out. I agree with others that this was not one of her best books, bit it is still SO much better than some of the other current best-selling authors. So, I would still recommend it. I'm looking forward to her next book - hopefully she'll decide to do another historical!

Summary: Disappointment
Review: I have been a Judith McNaught reader and fan for a long time. I was very anxious to read this book as the gossip was that the publisher kept asking for rewrites as they were not happy with it. No wonder they did as it seems that Ms. McNaught is changing from writing romance periodic novels (which is her best style) to getting into mystery.

All of her books in the past let you get to know the characters more so that you could get attached to them and be more into the story. BUt that wasn't accomplished in this book. I always say that if you keep putting a book done, it is entertaining you and this one didn't.

Ms. McNaught if you read this, PLEASE GO BACK TO WRITING PERIODIC ROMANCE NOVELS! We miss them!

Summary: This is classic Judith McKnaught although I expected better
Review: After so many years of waiting I really expected better writing. Anyone just discovering JM probably would not find any fault in this one..... I believe some of her "true-blue" fans have probably waited so long that they would be happy with anything written from her pen. I on the other hand am not. I've been a fan of Ms. McKnaught for years (own every last book she has ever written) I LOVE her historicals and straddle the fence with her contemporary's (although I must say I like her older contemporary's better)but Man oh Man did I expect better and my goodness the book is HUGEEEE!!!! (a lot of wasted paper if you ask me)

Why is it that in mainly all of her books the main characters are BEYOND Rich? I mean ridiculously so... Anyhoo on to my review. First of all the story seemed disjointed to me there were flashbacks that really didn't pull the story together. You never really get to understand (in my opinion) what real type of relationship the Heroine had with her Husband. Then JM throws in this "conspiracy" plot (you'll know what I'm talking about when/and if you read the book) that had me by the end of the book asking myself "WAS THERE A NEED TO PUT THAT IN THERE?" I can't tell spoilers when I do a review, but BOY do I wish I could go into detail about this thing that irked me.

The Hero, again was a "rags to riches" type guy (classic JM) who of course knew the Heroine from long ago and was in love with her way back when, but had to put himself together before he could enter into her life.... Sounds familiar huh? I truly wish that some of these Authors could change up their plots, just so you don't see it coming. The Heroine had no idea about her husband's life but she had been married for some time to this guy and about the only thing I did like about this book was the presence of Courtney Maitland (sister of Noah Maitland) from "Night Whispers" and Joe (the chauffer for Meredith and Matt) from "Paradise".

If you can wait for it on paperback I encourage you to do so or wait until the price goes down because had I spent the retail price I would be upset. If you want to read some of her better work check out "Double Standards" as well as "Paradise"

Summary: ~ Really Good ~
Review: I have seen this in the book stores, I always looked at it but never seemed interested in reading it, until now this was a pick for our book club ~ I am so glad that it was, I have read a couple of Judith McNaught books and I have not been disappointed. Leigh Kendall is a Broadway actress, her husband Logan mysteriously disappears. She starts to find out things she didn't know about her husband. There were times when Leigh would get on my nerves always wanting to know about the lead on Logan I know she was worried about him and she really did love him I guess it's the way she went about it. There is this Michael Valente, he was accused of something he didn't do and spend time in prison. Now that he's out it's hard for him to get a long with the New York policemen. You start to wonder why they have it in for him. He is the number one suspect for Logan's disappearance, I really like Michael for the start though he did seem kind of weird. I thought Logan was a jerk of a husband!! All in all it was a really good read.
Happy Reading Lisa

Summary: Judith McNaught's fans have waited a long time for this one!
Review: Fans of Judith McNaught waited a long time for this one! In the tradition of Sandra Brown, Julie Garwood and Catherine Coulter, McNaught, a best-selling romance author, is now also writing clear suspense. This is not her strongest book, though there is much here to enjoy. McNaught's talent for strong characters holds this one together during the opening pages when the plot is slow-turning.

Broadway actress Leigh Kendall planned on meeting her husband, Logan Manning, in a mountain cabin. However she gets lost, is hit by another car and is rescued near death. Her severe injuries do not keep her from trying to find her husband, though, as it soon becomes apparent that he is missing.

Logan has some secrets, but Leigh does too. A childhood acquaintance steps in to help her when she can trust no one else and an interesting relationship develops. Sadly, this friend is an Italian with a prison record and is rumored to have ties to the mob. While McNaught is possibly trying to show how unfair this stereotyping can be, it detracts from his characterization. Another character laboring under stereotypes is the gay Broadway director.

The minor characters are almost more likable than the major ones. McNaught fans will recognize Joe O'Hara, chauffeur/bodyguard to Matt and Meredith Farrell, running characters in her books. A sister of another favorite character also makes an appearance. Introduced here are Samantha Littleton and Mitchell McCord, detectives in the Manning case. Their interaction and sparring provide some of the most exciting moments in the book. Hopefully, they will return to solve new cases in McNaught's books.

The villain can be spotted by the middle of the book, which is where the action really takes off. A second tragedy is a surprise that helps keep the pages turning toward the conclusion, which provides satisfying endings for characters that the reader will grow to care about.

One note: the publication delays on this book were probably not spent on editing. A tighter plot with earlier sparks among characters will make future McNaught thrillers even more enjoyable.

Summary: A romantic thriller to watch out for
Review: Judith McNaught's eagerly-anticipated vehicle Someone to Watch Over Me may have lacked the romantic intensity of her earlier hits like Whitney, My Love but it is unrepentently entertaining and plotted slickly like legerdemain Sidney Sheldon with the rousing theme of crime and passion. Shadows of paranoia are cast when celebrated Broadway actress Leigh Kendall meets with an accident on her way to her husband, Logan Manning's mountain retreat. She wakes up from a coma and finds Logan vanished. Recruiting the help of NYPD rookie Samantha Littleton and enigmatic police veteran McCord, they uncover the grisly murder of Logan Manning and finds a web of deception and rage within their scope of suspects including Leigh's playwright, co-actress, therapist Dr. Winters and the stalking Michael Valente. Chockful of surprises await readers including Logan's hidden persona and Leigh's unexpected romance. They compensate for the long overdrive into unnecessary details and provide the sideshow to complement McNaught's memorable characters. It is a romantic thriller to watch out for.

Summary: Very Entertaining!!
Review: While attempting to meet with her husband in the Catskills, Broadway Superstar Leigh Kendall(a.k.a. Mrs. Logan Manning), drives into an unexpected snowstorm. After an accident which should have killed her, she pulls herself to the side of the road where she is rescued and taken to a local hospital. In the following days Leigh learns that her husband is missing and eventually is found murdered. She cannot comprehend why anyone would want to [do away with] her husband who is well-liked. Leigh and her husband have been married about thirteen years and she is about to discover that she really didn't know him at all.

The story continues with much emphasis on solving the murder. You will be kept guessing about the identity of the murderer and be treated to not only one but two romances. I personally liked the romance that developed between Detective Samantha (Sam) Littleton and Lieutenant Mitchell McCord. Their characters were very modern and refreshing. For those of you who enjoy reading about very strong, confident guys, then you will enjoy the characters of Lt. McCord and Michael Valente.

Since this is my first JM novel, obviously I cannot compare it to her previous works but I can tell you I found this to be a very enjoyable read.
