Summary: Superb, Exceptional
Review: I have read all of Beverly Jenkins' books. The way she recounts African American history is superb. Of all her books, Through the Storm is by far my favorite. I have actually read this book 3 times and look forward reading more. This book should be adapted to the screen.

Summary: Something is missing
Review: I have read all of Ms Jenkins's books and love her writing style. However I was a little disappointed with this book. In her perevious book where she first introduced Ramond he was a very dasing man that we could not wait to hear his story. well that long awaited story was very disappointing. Ramond was not as dashing and he seemed to lose his charm in this book. In all of her other books the male chacthers seem to be larger then life and Mrs. Jenkins made you not only want to meet this man but you WANTED those men. Some where something was lost in the writing of this book. I still believe Mrs. Jenkins to be a wounderful writer but that she did not do the Ramond that was in "Indigo" justice.

Summary: SPENDID, GLORIOUS, EDUCATIONAL AND INSPIRATIONAL
Review: I have read all of Ms. Jenkins books, and becoming totally engrossed in this story was no different that when I read her other stories. Even my children (ages 12,8,&6) enjoy the parts of the stories that I share with them. My husband took it away so that I would greet him properly one day :-) Reluctantly, I started lending my books to friends and relatives so that they can also experience the magic. I would love to know if there is an e-mail so that I can write her. I wish to express my appreciation to her for stories that touch the heart and warm the soul. Keep writing!!!!!

Review: I LOVE THE WAY JENKINS HAS INCORPORATED HISTORY WITH FICTION IN THIS TALE. SABLE'S CONNECTION TO HER ANCESTOR'S MOTHERLAND HELD ME CAPTIVE TO WANT MORE OF THIS STORY. THIS WAS A BOOK THAT I COULD NOT PUT DOWN!

Summary: Capitvating
Review: I originally bought the book for my daughter, and she told me that I HAD to read it. She couldn't put it down and neither could I. It was so refreshing to see African-Americans in historical romance novels that I couldn't get enough. I felt that I received a history lesson, and entertainment at the same time. I have now purchased all of Ms. Jenkins books and I hope she keeps those ancestral flames burning!

Summary: Excellent & Exciting - Found Time Somehow to Read This Book!
Review: I recently discovered Beverly Jenkins. I never actively read 'romance' books and now I wonder if I've been missing out. Her development of characters and their relationship with Sable is wonderful. Sable's mother-in-law was a pearl and her brother-in-laws were humorous and brotherly. It was great to show Raimond's attachment and involvement with the adopted children. I love how the men in these books are larger than life and how they are attracted to strong-minded women. Ms. Jenkins is an excellent writer and I can't wait for her new book (I also am searching for copies of her out of print books - Indigo and Vivid.

Summary: This book is mesmerizing
Review: I truely could not put this book down.

The way she described the slave girl Sable, the Queen of her African Tribe... her fight for freedom, her escape from slavery and her encounters with the man she loves and her loving passion for him ...it makes this book a must read for everyone that enjoys a good romance novel. Beverly Jenkins truely captured the essence of writing a good romance novel laced with black history. I don't want to tell much more, as I don't want spill the beans...but it is worth every penny and much more !!!

Summary: Terrific ethnic romance
Review: In 1864 Georgia, Sable Fontaine realizes that her occupation as a slave may be nearing an end but she remains in jeopardy. Though she has been treated reasonably well and educated by her father (the plantation owner) and is close with her half-sister, her father's wife has sold her to the cruel Henry Morse. Sable flees her home via the underground railroad with Henry in hot pursuit.

At one station, she meets Raimond LeVeg, who falls in love with the spicy girl. However, she runs away from his camp when Henry arrives. This leaves Raimond questioning his own wisdom as he wonders if she is a spy? Sable goes to New Orleans where she meets Raimond's mamam and ultimately she weds Raimond. However, Henry is a nineteenth century stalker, who is coming for his property regardless of Lincoln and his proclamations.

Beverly Jenkins is by far the leading writer of African-American historical romances and her latest novel, THROUGH THE STORM, enhances that well-deserved reputation. Though the story line requires an acceptance of coincidence, readers will enjoy the historical authenticity that brings to light facts often ignored by history texts. The lead rotagonists are a charming duo, whose romance is passionate and hot. Any fan of historical romances, who have failed to try a Jenkins novel is missing out on one of the best writers of the sub-genre.

Summary: This book was FANTASTIC!
Review: It was the first of Jenkins that I had ever read and I loved it. The way that she put African American history and mixed it together to bring about a story of love and struggle. I couldn't put it down.

Summary: Applauding Romance!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This is the first time I've ever read one of Beverly Jenkins stories and I'm hooked! Through the Storm was beautiful!! I'm a senior in high school and all of my friends and co-workers literally have to shut me up from talking about it. I was really impressed! There should be more Sable and Raimond relationships today. This story has motivated me to continue writing. Keep up the excellent work!!
