Summary: Spanish Disco is Red Dress Ink's best yet!
Review: A page-turner with a heroine who is proud to be smart and tough, this book is a winner. It's so refreshing to read chick-lit with a heroine who isn't trying to hide her brains in order to get the guy of her dreams. I loved this book and can't wait to read Orloff's next one.

Summary: quick worthwhile read
Review: Cassie Hayes is 34, a workaholic editor who gives her all to her authors but does not take any, shall we say, "mess" from them. The closest thing to a relationship she has had since moving to Florida 5 years ago is with an author in London, whom she has never met.

Cassie's boss Lou is also a personal friend of her father's, who is in a facility with Alzheimer's. When Lou moved his publishing house from NYC to Florida in an attempt to move away from painful memories of his deceased wife, Cassie moved and took her father too. Her long-gone mother appears like a vulture, waiting for him to die so she can have his estate.

Cassie is now suddenly given the plum assignment of editing a sequel from Roland Riggs, who wrote a book that is on the required reading list of every high school. He is considered a genius and will only allow Lou to publish his book if Cassie moves into his reclusive house on Sanibel Island, FL -- away from the bars and coffeehouses Cassie claims to need to survive -- and edit from there.

Cassie of course finds a place unlike any other --- plants and animals are everywhere, and Roland does not seem that interested in producing a real book. He is also not interested in Cassie -- but needs her for other demons he is chasing .....

This is a quick interesting read. The heroine reveals more and more of her captivating life as the books goes on -- she used to go to Studio 54, tales of her childhood when her dad could remember things, her brief marriage. She is never goofy -- we have had way too much of that kind of protagonist lately and she is a welcome change.

Summary: Very Good
Review: Cassie Hayes is and editor she helps sell books, that is the only thing she is good at ~ Cooking, Committing, are not one of them. She has been talking to this guy Michael Pearton 5 years they have only talked on the phone and never met, they have had phone sex but that's as far as it has gone. Michael wants to commit to Cassie but she won't have any of it, he as been wanting to meet her but she keeps giving him excuses why that would be a bad idea. That doesn't stop Michael on getting what he wants. Her boss gives Cassie an assignment she has to stay with his man that only sold on book but it has hit the best seller list and he has made a lot of money on it. Roland as lost the love of his life and he has been living in the past with her. Cassie wants to read what Roland has written and he says he has written a poem for the book, she thinks it's just awful and tell him so. There is this house keeper her name is Maria she is in love with him though he doesn't know it, and she doesn't know he is in love with her. Maria has been there for him when his wife died and she helped him through it. Roland is scared of Maria turning him down and not wanting him. Cassie in her way is already falling in love with Michael she thinks he deserves so much better but he wants her. Something happens and makes her see Michael in a different light. Review: I agree with the majority of the reviews. This is an enjoyable edition to the Red Dress Ink family. Many of the RDI novels focus on fairly immature ( in my opinion) twenty-somethings. Even though they can be cute reads I was happy to read one where the heroine was over 30 and had more mature issues to deal with.

This was an easy, fun, read that had some wit and humor and some understated 'real" moments. Its perfect for a light Saturday afternoon read.

Review: I finished reading this book the day I bought it.. it was my splurge purchase at ....

Several things I liked about it -

1) Original Plot. Original Relationships. There are so many books out there that are cookie cutter in design - career woman is out for love.. finds it with some trouble in between.. finds peace within herself blah blah blah. Wake up. That's not necessarily real life. No one is guaranteed a happy, functional ending. Sometimes you have to find happiness in what you get - regardless of its idealism. This book does that.

2) Wit. Bless Wit. So many books are witty & this is one of them.

3) Acceptance of imperfections. This woman didn't feel the need to change for anyone.. she was very aware of her flaws but she never promised to change for anyone - and she was accepted, and loved, for it.

I hope this author writes more in the future. Life isn't a direct route from point A to point B with a few climatic adventures in between resulting in paradise C.. she understands that.

Review: I found this book to be hysterically funny and quirky. Finally, through Cassie Hayes, I have found a unique and interesting character to care about - something that is rare these days. While this book had me in stitches it also had very real and touching moments. It may seem a cliche, but this book made me laugh and cry. Bravo to Erica Orloff, I hope her next book comes soon!

Summary: Slight let-down after reading Diary of a Blues Goddess
Review: I had such high hopes for this book after I read Diary of a Blues Goddess, that I would, inevitably, be let down. Perhaps reading other reviews of this book tainted my opinion somewhat as well. I found myself looking for flaws that other reviewers had commented on.

Although the story was fun and maintained a good pace, I feel it was lacking in character development. The characters seemed one-dimensional and cliche at times. As a reader, I didn't feel connected or emotionally attached to the characters or even the story itself. Maybe it was Cassie's lifestyle or perhaps it was Orloff's extensive use of dialouge over description. Either way, I still can't conjure up a clear mental picture of Cassie... and I don't think that's a good thing.

Review: I hate to be so negative, but I just thought this book was awful. I've read most of the Red Dress Ink books and loved them, but when I picked up this one, I was so bored. This is very much unlike other RDI books, and not in a good way. When it was over, I immediately took it to half-price books. For the love of Pete, save your time and money and read another RDI book.
