Rating: Summary: Second book in werewolf trilogy Review: Lady Rowena Forster has escaped England and her werewolf heritage to New York where she meets and is betrothed to powerful Cole MacClean. Tomas Randall is a devastatingly handsome man/werewolf from the West who has a grudge against the ruthless Cole MacClean. In order to get his revenge on Cole, Tomas manages to lure Rowena from the saftey of New York Society to the wild frontiers of the West. Along the way, Rowena and Tomas full for each other but will Tomas manage to persuade Rowena that her betrothed is not who he seems to be. We first meet Rowena in Touch of the Wolf where she is betrayed as a very cold character. Here she seems to be warmer but still a lady of ice. Tomas Randall is an absolutely gorgeous and a really charming character. The splaterring of Spanish, will make you believe that you are in the wild frontiers of the West. There is plenty of adventure and suspense throughout the whole book. A very good read indeed. If only I could get the last book (Quentin's story) in the trilogy but it's not available in France. Lealing
Rating: Summary: You'll enjoy Once A Wolf Review: Lady Rowena Forster left England to get away from her werewolf nature. More than anything else, she wants to be human. Her brother wanted her to marry Cole MacLean but she wanted nothing to do with him. Now, three years later, she is engaged to Cole and they plan to marry in one month's time. He told her he has also renounced his true nature and wants only to be a man. What he really wants is power and wealth. Rowena is able to smooth the way for him to be accepted by the rich and powerful. Her wealth is also an added attraction. He is an unscrupulous fellow and has dominated her unmercifully. She would be horrified to know how much blood he has on his hands. When Tomas Alejandro Randall tells Rowena that her twin brother needs her, she leaves with him on a train to New Mexico. She soon finds out that she has been kidnapped and that she is in the middle of a revenge scheme between he and Cole. Rowena finds her Lady Ice image changing as she became more and more attracted to her captor. Tomas is a warm-hearted man except when it comes to the MacLean's who have killed off his family. He wants to lure Cole to the west and to destroy all that he holds dear. His attraction to Rowena could be his undoing. We met Tomas and Rowena in Susan Krinard's first book of this series, Touch of the Wolf. Rowena is an uptight woman afraid to let go and revert to her werewolf nature. Weylin is a lawman and Cole's brother. He is determined to capture Tomas but only within the confines of the law. How many lies has his brother Cole told him? Susan Krinard writes an interesting story of revenge, lust and love. Cole is the epitome of a bad guy with absolutely no redeeming qualities. The other characters are fascinating. I was especially interested in Tomas' friend, Sim Kavanagh, trying to ascertain whether he was a good guy or a bad guy and the mute Esperanza who has psychic powers. Sim is sometimes even more interesting than the hero so hopefully; he will get his own story in a future book. The werewolf series is an excellent one. If you enjoyed Touch of the Wolf, you are sure to enjoy Once A Wolf.
Rating: Summary: Susan Krinard's books are not to be missed! Review: Lady Rowena's story was every bit as fascinating as I thought it would be! Tomas was a dream of a hero and knew just what Rowena needed. All he had to do was convince her!
Rating: Summary: Very Good Paranormal Romance! Review: My first book by Susan Krinard and it won't be the last! The characters were very well written. I enjoyed Lady Rowena's transformation from Lady of Ice to Lady of Fire. Tomas Randall is a hero I just fell in love with. Tomas' character was sincere, kind and thoughtful. You could easily see why Rowena falls in love with him despite everything. I thoroughly enjoyed this romance and will look for her backlist! Highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Review: Once a Wolf was even better than Touch of the Wolf. I am really looking forward to the third book which I hope will come out soon. Thank you, Susan Krinard, for having such a wonderful imagination and the excellent ability to put that imagination into words.
Rating: Summary: Once a Wolf Review: Romance among the werewolf set isn't in the plans of Lady Rowena Forester. She refuses to follow her brother's orders and marry the man chosen for her. She has settled in New York and chosen the powerful financier, Cale MacLean. The one-armed Maclean has enemies, the hereditary. His enemy Tomas Alejandro Randall, called El Lobo, plans to seduce and kidnap Maclean's woman. Susan Krinard is one of the best, and I consider her Once A Wolf first rate reading. Werewolves make exotic lovers, and we are fascinated
Rating: Summary: A powerful love story! Review: Susan Krinard has outdone herself with Once a Wolf, the sequel to Touch of the Wolf! While I was prepared to enjoy the story of Lady Rowena Forster, who was introduced in Touch of the Wolf, I was instantly enthralled in this story that has proven to be a vivid, explosive western romance. Lady Rowena has been kidnapped by Tomas Alejandro Randall, known in the West as the outlaw El Lobo, in revenge for the murder of his parents by Cole MacLean, Lady Rowena's fiance. But Lady Rowena only knows Cole as a wealthy financier who has, like herself, distained his werewolf blood. Thus begins a journey filled with danger and dangerous passions, and the uncovering of many deceits and lies. Rowena and Tomas must find their way through this intricate maze and try to understand the powerful feelings each feels for the other. This is a marvelous love story that will not disappoint the reader on any level. Ms. Krinard is a very talented writer and you will be left with a yearning for the next tale and the hope that there will be many more! Karen King
Rating: Summary: ONCE A WOLF IS THE PARANORMAL ROMANCE OF THE YEAR Review: Susan Krinard's ONCE A WOLF revives the flagging lethargy that drowns the plot in many paranormal romances and is definitely one that enchants with its sweeping romance in the Wild Western frontier. After Touch of the Wolf, it has been a long time that this sequel has arrived - and it does not disappoint. It tells of the identity crisis that Rowena Forster has with her animal instincts and under the deceitful Cole MacLean, she decides to abandon her roots and conform herself to the civilized society in England. Tomas Randall, who is also of the wolf descendent, are seeking vengeance on Cole who robbed him of his family. He kidnaps Rowena by tricking her on a visit to her brother, Quentin. Tomas is inexorably attracted to this Lady of Ice who hides her passion and desires behind her nonchalant facade. The romance thrills with a surreal realm of the paranormal and breathes lush sensuality. But most importantly, the plot has tight pacing and wages emotional roller-coasters with readers. It speaks volume of the internal struggle in Rowena to follow her own heart and how Cole who despises his wolf heritage is ultimately the villain - the wolf in sheep's clothing. There is visual splendour - the wild west terrain is vividly portrayed against the blossoming passion. Towards the end, the poignancy envelops the reader and is sure to evoke tears from many readers. Ms. Krinard has never been better since TOUCH OF THE WOLF - but perhaps her villains can get stereotypical easily. Cole sounds virulent enough but falls flat in the story with his unilateral emotions - hatred. The side characters like Weylin can be made more memorable. But these flaws cannot mar the undeniably passionate Once a wolf. It is no wonder romance readers are staying all night long to wolf down the story in one go.
