Rating: Summary: Just didn't do it for me..... Review: Hmmm... this one just didn't do it for me. I see that it got pretty good reviews here on Amazon, so maybe it's just me. It did have a few humorous scenes & the ending wasn't bad. But - to me the heroine, Clio, was an immature BRAT!! She sulked, she pulled stupid tricks, & did not in any manner act like a woman of the 13th century. Things she did that were supposed to be a result of pride really should have just embarrased her. More than one of her stunts really put her life (& the life of others) in danger; Considering the time period they lived in, it just showed a real lack of intelligence. I guess I just need a more intelligent heroine in my reading... Naive is ok, pulling funny stunts is fun, but showing a complete lack of intelligence just doesn't make me admire them. The hero, Merrick, was really a hard man at first - not unjust or cruel, just very hard. However, set as it was in the 13th century, with the life he had led, it was justified.... or if not justified, at least more realistic. He came around or grew a lot faster than Clio did. I suppose I've just gotten use to authors who either write a much more in-depth plot, a more in-depth love story, or at least has a spunky heroine that I can have fun reading about AND have a little respect for...
Rating: Summary: FUNNY AND WITTY Review: I absolutely loved reading Wonderful. I found Lady Clio and Merrick as two different people bought together and really learned alot from each other. Merrick is very (yummy) and Lady Clio (beautiful) and together hilarious. A must read .
Rating: Summary: Boring Review: I am a big fan of romance novels, usually I enjoy the ones even declared as "fluff" by others. I couldn't wait for this book to end. The plot might have been decent, but the characters just were not very deep. Esspecially Merrick, who bored me out of my mind. I finished it... but only because I didn't want the book in the back of my mind.I read "Bewitching" by Jill Barnette and found it appealing. After reading about so many give-em-hell heroines, Jill's sweet, simple stories with the original and exciting love scenes were refreshing. I would not, however, deem them "witty". The best book I've read in that aspect is "Whitney, My Love" by Judith McNaught...I have read it about five times and it is still my favorite.
Rating: Summary: Charming & Poignant Medieval Romance Review: I enjoyed this book so much! WONDERFUL is enchanting, uplifting and has enough history to place you in the world she's created but not enough to feel like a boring history lesson. The details of ale making were fascinating. Her characters are lovable, and the secondary characters are well drawn and add to the fun (I can't wait for Roger's story!). Clio teaches Merrick how to laugh and love and their relationship develops slowly from one of irritation, to friendship, to desire and love. It's all done with such a tender hand that I couldn't stop the tears when I got to towards the end. Speaking of which, it takes an abrupt serious turn which may upset some looking for a pure love and laughter read. For me, this part made the love story all the more poignant. Like all the Barnett books I've read I laughed and cried and completely enjoyed myself. *Sigh* Do I really have to wait 6 months or so for the next one?
Rating: Summary: A delightful keeper Review: I found WONDERFUL to be just that. Ms.Barnett's talent for "love and laughter" style romances shines through yet again in this book. Lady Clio and her merry band of misfits will leave you laughing throughout. When Lord Merrick (her husband-to-be) finally returns from his journeys he will learn that as a knight not all battles take place on a battlefield. Clio and Merrick's verbal exchanges are one of the many delightful things that stay with you after the last page has been read. I'm looking forward to WILD,the next book in this medieval trilogy.

Rating: Summary: Funny and an easy read... Review: I have read the JB's medieval trilogy and enjoyed WICKED most of all. However this book is just as heart warming. Clio and Merrick are interesting couple. I enjoyed how clio gets into so much mischief and how she was able to brought about joy in Merricks dull life. He was use to fighting battles and planning siege all his life but now, with Clio, his life was a complete adventure. Thud and Twack is also one of my favorite character and of course, the famous Tobin De Clare who became the hero in WICKED. A keeper!

Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL SAYS IT ALL! Review: I just finished reading "Wonderful". Took longer to find this book in my local exchange book store. I had read "Wild" and "Wicked" quite a while ago and have loaned them to my sister. All of these books are definitely keepers. Jill Barnett's humor and love are in all of them. Clio and Merrick are such delightful characters with strength and great shared love. I love Cyclops, the parrot that loved to swing upside down on her braid, and best of all Thud and Thwack who are also continued in another book. In all of them and her story Ms Barnett's own real love comes through. I am looking forward to reading every book she has or will write. May new commercials, sights or sounds keep these fantastic ideas coming to the great enjoyment and pleasure of all your fans. It is difficult to start another book after this delightful read but, as an avid reader, I shall perservere.
