Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Sensual, Romantic and Funny
Review: I've read several of Dodd's books and find each one done tastefully and romantically. Rules of Surrender follows meets this expectation! The character's vulnerabilities and stubborn beliefs of right and wrong are realistic and understandable - and in the end they are resolved in a believable and enjoyable fashion!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Non-stop fun!
Review: Rules of Surrender is non-stop action from the opening page. The hero is a beastly savage--well sometimes--and he is both divine and more then he presents to the world. Wynter has lived most of his life in the mid-east and has retained desert manners and thinking.

Charlotte is more then a match for him, a Lady forced to become a governess to survive, she is a force of nature. She also has the audacity to want Wynter to love her. But, his desert father told him real men don't feel love!

Watching this pair is fun and the banter is witty. It was fun seeing Adorna and Jane from One Scandalous Night and the now-widowed Adorna even has a second chance at love. Truly a pleasant way to spend an evening.

Summary: A fun read, but not rich and tasty enough.
Review: This is the first Christina Dodd book I've read, and it was pretty enjoyable, but very light. I liked the clever beginning where the women of the Distinguished Academy of Governesses must play a bit of a double cross to scare up some business. The hero was not quite as memorable as some, but he was amusing. Dodd has a pretty light touch, and a clever way with a story. She seems too nice though. When the inevitable "darkness" fell in the heroine's life and she went through the usual conflicts in a romance novel, the darkness was...well...pretty light. It was like a diet dessert...satisfied the sweet tooth, sort of...but didn't actually leave one feeling decadent and wicked. I would have given another star for a little wickedness! :-)

Summary: Expected More...
Review: After reading all of Ms. Dodd's previous works, I expected more. The hero in this novel certainly wouldn't have swept me off my feet. I felt like Charlotte was settling for Wynter. I didn't feel any real chemistry. Wynter seemed very two dimensional. Unlike previous works, I could easily put this book down without wondering or caring what happened next.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wonderfully done in typical Dodd style
Review: Teaming with memorable characters and wit that is truly Christina Dodd, this book will enchant anyone who loves romance. Charlotte was wonderfully vivid and Wynter made my heart melt. Bravo, Ms. Dodd! Thank you for a wonderful diversion.

Summary: I Couldn't Put This Book Down...
Review: The Rules of Surrender by Christina Dodd captured my full attention from the first page. I had a wonderful time reading this story. There are so many interesting and exciting characters in the book. You never know quite what Wynter or his children will say next.

Lady Charlotte Dalrumple is a lady who is down on her luck. She and two friends have opened a business and Adorna Ruskin is their first customer. Adorna needs a paragon of propriety to teach her grandchildren how to behave correctly in polite society. Charlotte is more than qualified for the position hence her nickname "Ms. Priss".

Lord Wynter Ruskin has just returned from El Bahar a desert country. He has apparently lost all of his gentlemanly qualities. To make matters worst his two children are wild knife throwing hellions.

Charlotte is both fascinated and awed by Wynter but she is determined to do her duty. She will not let Wynter and his children prevent her from instructing them in correct behavior. Wynter is determined that Charlotte will become his future wife while she adamantly refuses.

The story is wonderful and the characters eventually realize they love each other more than anything. Some of the scenes in the story are absolutely hysterical. I really enjoyed reading this book.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: Christina Dodd is one of my top-five favorite authors, so I looked forward to the publication of this book. The first few pages show all of Ms. Dodd's usual charm up to the point where the "hero" enters the story. Unfortunately, the "hero" shows all the emotional intelligence of a spoiled two-year-old; apparently his stunted responses are caused by his father's death when he was an youth. Not only is he insensitive to the heroine's character, he is so self-involved that he can't discern anyone elses feelings, even his mother's or his children's. The heroine is great - I just wish she could have ended up with someone who was worth her. I love Christina Dodd and will continue to buy her books, since no author can get it all right all of the time, but this one is barely worth the price.

Summary: Dodd does it again.
Review: When I first saw this book I was so happy. I love Christina Dodds books. At first I had a hard time getting into the flow but after the initial chapter or two it flowed and I really enjoyed it.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Enjoyable but not exciting...
Review: This book seemed to have everything: Good premise, good characters, good setting. Then a funny thing happened--virtually nothing. Oh, the main male character engaged in a slow seduction of Charlotte, which was somewhat interesting, but the rest seemed to wander. There was no tension or suspense about anything. Even Wynter's declaration of love at the end seemed ho-hum. Somehow I wanted more. Dodd did deliver a nice story that warmed your heart in places. If that's enough for you, this is a fine read. If you want to be breathless and enthralled, look elsewhere.

Summary: A somewhat disappointed reader
Review: This book was a very good read. However, it did disappoint me. The hero acted too much like a confused little boy too often to be appealing, he also could have used a little more attitude. The conclusion to the extortion problem was unexciting. But I did enjoy the end of the book.
