Rating: Summary: I Love Sandra Kitt!!! Review: I've read two of Sandra Kitt's books back-to-back: the first being, The Color of Love and I just finished this one, Close Encounters! What can I say?! Sandra Kitt leaves me breathless and wanting more everytime! She, once again, tackles an interracial relationship with ease and finesse! She makes the reader WANT these two characters that come from two different backgrounds to come together. Does she do so? Well, I'll leave that up to whoever chooses to read this book, but one thing's for sure, be prepared to NOT want to put this book down! I definitely want to become a writer exactly like Sandra Kitt! She pushes me to make my writing so much better!
Rating: Summary: Better the second time around. Review: Initially, I was thrown by the similarities between this book and the 'Color of Love'. In both books the protagonist is an artist, her lover is an older, divorced cop with a kid (Lee's kid's alive), the setting is NY. I enjoyed the story but I found myself reading it quickly and putting it aside. After a couple of weeks, I decided to read it again. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly I got caught up in this wonderful story of self-discovery. Ms. Kitt is extremely talented, and she always entertains.
Rating: Summary: Close Encounters a Classy Act Review: Sandra Kitt is the Shakespeare of contemporary romance writing. She brought together an emotional plot of police office and victim and surrounds you into an ethereal setting of enchantment. We put aside our hurts and had to encompass the effective of character's passions. We cried, weep, hated oh, yes this time around we actually was allowed to hate. But through it all Ms. Kitt ended with the Classy Shakespearean ending - HOPE!!

Rating: Summary: Excellent story from a talented author Review: Sandra Kitt just keeps getting better. It's rare to find an author not afraid to write intelligent and moving romances that feature black/white couples. Keep em' coming, Sandra. If you haven't read her other books, you're missing out.
Rating: Summary: Nobody does emotion like Sandra Kitt Review: Sandra Kitt was my introduction to contemporary African-American romance fiction with her classic "Adam and Eva." I have read (or tried to read) all her subsequent books, many of which, for reasons unknown, have started with the letter 'S'. Some I liked, some I didn't, some I had to struggle through and others I just couldn't get into at all. This is, in my opinion, the best of her mainstream books. It moved a bit slow, but was always interesting, and I never lost the desire to find out what happened next. I did find myself wondering if Carol or Lee had any friends; none were mentioned. But it was very enjoyable story, both sweet and grounded in stark reality, and I would recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Eamiga's Review of "Close Encounters" Review: Sandra Kitt's newest novel exceeded my expectations. When I initially viewed it at a local bookstore, it struck me as intriguing and thought provoking. After reading this enjoyable, and yes thought provoking novel, I came away with a very good feeling. I believe that this author's writing has moved to a higher level, with this novel. The reader really gets a sense as to what it would be like to live in Lee and Carol's world and face their dilemmas. This is definitely recommended for anyone interested in exploring fiction that represents our world today, issues such as interracial relationships and ethical dilemmas. Readers that enjoyed Eric Dickey's "Milk in my Coffee," (as I definitely did!), will likely enjoy this novel. I found myself prolonging my reading, as I did not want to reach the end. I also appreciated the intricacies of the plot that Ms. Kitt developed. I highly recommend this novel to all fiction readers! Sincerely, Eamiga
Rating: Summary: Not as strong as "Color of Love," But good Review: The main reason I enjoyed this story was because of Carol coming to terms with how she was raised and her family. Her near death experience made her finally realize that in this world you have to take love from wherever it comes from. I think her confusion as a child was to be expected, but to turn your back on your family just because you are not like them is wrong. Family is family, especially when there is genuine love. I liked Lee a lot and thought that he was an honorable man, but I thought they hooked up way too quickly in the relationship. Also, the secondary story with Lee's partner, Barbara, did nothing for me. I found that whole thing confusing. I liked Lee's inner thoughts about his daughter and trying to reach out for her before it was too late. I felt like he was taking steps to be a better Dad, listening to her and trying to help her see her Mom's POV of things. And his confusion and honesty with himself about the shooting, and what being a cop meant to him, was good. It gave me a better idea about what he was going through. Overall, pretty good. Sandra excels in the actual writing of the relationship, it's just some of the other details that are a little lacking.
Rating: Summary: Black and White Review: The wonderful thing about Close Encounters is that the reader thinks she is reading about the development of an interacial couple. A few chapters into this book, she (the reader) will realize that this is just a tiny, almost unimportant part of the plot. The story unfolds during a police investigation of an accidental shooting. The main characters don't expect to become romantically involved, and are actually on opposite sides of the conflict. Their mutual attraction surprises both of them. As they get to know each other better, they see that they have much in common and that their differences are superficial. This is quite an emotional journey for the central characters, and you will enjoy watching them work things out.
