Summary: Borrow it from a friend or the library
Review: I would definitely recommend borrowing this book over buying it. The plot never got fully developed. After reading Hearts Aflame, I was looking forward to reading about Selig. In this novel, he appears as a mere shadow of himself. He and Erika are very shallow characters the likes of which are usually in the background of a novel. Even his nickname is corny and not fully thought out. This is another of those novels when the hero and heroine fall in love and you have to ask yourself why. They know nothing about one another. For that matter, we as the reader don't know enough about them to care either.

Summary: Authors aren't Flawless
Review: I'm a big fan of Johanna Lindsey's, but just because of that I won't rate all her books as great. No this was not as good as Hearts Aflame. Mostly in my opinion because Johanna seem to make Selig out different than what he was in his sisters story. Even her less than great books are worth reading, except in my opinion her newest one "Temptation". This one might not be as good as the first two of the series, but it was still good reading. This is one of those books that like a movie will all depend on you.

Summary: My thought + Book sleeve description
Review: On the back of the book: A Lady's Scorn. Wrongly branded a spy, the dark and handsome Viking lod Selig Haardrad suffered greatly in the dungeons of Lady Erika of Gronwood. And as he hung in chains, his magnificent body wracked with pain and fever, on thought sustained him: revenge! A Vikings Vengeance. Now Destiny's great wheel has turned-and Selig's exquisite, honey-haired tormentor has been delivered into the Norseman's hands. Now it is Selig who is the maste, bound and determined to break the proud spirit of his captive "ice queen" and to conquer her with passion's sword-never dreaming that his own heart will be vanquished by sensuous desire... and vicorious love..... My thoughts on the book: Selig is a character who first appears in "Heart Aflame" as the heroin Kirten's sister and manages to steal some of the limelight. A man much loved by women all his life this book deals with a presumed action by a woman agianst him. He is as much in shock as he is out for revenge and actually finds he has a hard time really carrying out his revenge but it makes for good tense reading at times as you don't know just what Selig might do. A great read, I loved the two lead character of Selig and Erika. She is in a tense kidnapping situation and is brave and strong without being overbearing or unbelievable [unlike Kirsten in Heart Aflame] given the situation. .....An exciting read.

Summary: No Good!
Review: Selig is not even the same guy in this book! JL totally changed his character! When did he get so mean and callous? When did he become an abuser of women? Well, not all women, just the heroine. She's not at all what I would have picked for Selig! The only reason this book gets the one star is because of Royce! What little he was in it, that is. I'm sorry to admit that I found myself wanting to read more about him than Selig, especially after reading HEARTS AFLAME. If you want to preserve your good opinion of the handsome and once-sweet, yet tough, Selig, skip this book altogether.

Summary: 3rd of the Viking Trilogy
Review: Selig is now living near his sister Kristen and offers to help the Saxon King by offering to be a translator to the Danes, but their expedition is attacked and he his left for dead. Erika of Gronwood has made a mistake. In her brother's absence a spy is captured, but this man claims not to be a spy. He claims to be a Norwegian Viking helping the Saxons, and he insults Erika even though his life is in her hands. Furious, she orders him whipped only to recant the order later. What she doesn't know is that Selig is suffering from a head wound and fever. That is why he is not making sense. When Selig's kin come to claim him, he takes Erika with him to exact revenge on her. (In his fevered state he imagined her laughing at his torment and pain.) Never did he realize that he would be taken with her and she with him. Could they find actually find love? This story is not as good or steamy as Hearts Aflame, but it is still a good tale with suspense and surprise.

Summary: One of Johanna Lindsey's best
Review: Surrender My Love does not seem to be rated very highly by some of the other readers, and I must say that I am surprised because this book is one of my favorites of ALL time. Selig and Erika have hurt each other in their own ways but the best part is that they cannot help fall in love with each other despite the hurt and distrust between them. It is really touching to see the way Selig tries to hurt Erika but fails terribly and you know that Selig, who has a reputation of loving women, would never have gone through with his threats anyway. i would recommend anyone to get this book. If you love stories where the lovers hate each other from the beginning, try to do things to hurt the other but fall in love anyway, then this is definitely a keeper.

Summary: Not one of her best...but still good
Review: The first two books of this trilogy are wonderful. I've read them several times since getting them. I always wanted to hear Selig's story, and feel it probably should have been told before Kristen's. This book seems to center around dialogues between Selig, Kristen, and Brenna, instead of focusing on the relationship between Selig and Erika. I don't like weak female characters, but not all women are strong so it makes since that not all characters will be. Of course, Erika started out that way and then seemed to sort of die in her enthusiasm to be free of Selig. Though it's not one of the best stories Ms. Lindsey has told, it's not as bad as Captive Bride. I would recommend this book, though it does seem a little chopped up in places. If you can get passed Kristen's temper, it's a good read.

Summary: Blah
Review: The second book was definitely the best one in the trilogy. I think that Lindsey should have taken her time w/this--Selig deserved better. The heroine was so weak and passive--not to mention totally unlikable. Ulg, don't read this book; better to reread a favorite or something.
