Summary: the best book i've ever read.
Review: Heather Graham is the only author I have found to wrap you up in a story so well you can't wait to read what happens next. YOu can't wait for the next book to see how well the mackinzies survive all that is happening to them. One family fights to stay together no matter what the veiws and they fight for the women that they love.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Dry history, plain lusts and no real love -Disappointing-
Review: I am very disappointed with this book. Normally I love Heather Graham's writing but without those surprises and thrills of a mystery, reading her writing becomes painful.

The history parts of the story are so dry I barely skim over them.

This romance novel has no real love and emotions. Despite its so many sex scenes, all of them are about Tara and Jarrett's lusts and not their feelings. Throughout the whole book, it seems like they never really care for each other, so I don't feel anything romantic about the story at all. I am glad I have finished the book and can move back to Graham's suspense novels.

Summary: Not as Great as Captive
Review: I didn't know about the order of Graham's Flordia seris, and I began with _Captive_ instead. After being engrossed in the book for a day, I could not wait at all to get my hands on the first book _Runaway_. After reading about their sweet relationship in _Captive_ I was couldn't wait to read more.

Sadly, _Runaway_ was a dissapointment. Tara is a narrow-minded, bratty female who makes me cringe, and Jarrett makes me twitch. It seems as if Jarette married Tara for the wrong reasons (because she caught his attention? Her hair? Her beauty?). And it is BEYOND me why and when and how they fell in love. One moment they're spatting the cruelest words to each other, and suddenly Tara says she loves him.

Also, Tara's seemingly *big* crisis, was nothing more than a mere chapter in the book to culminate. Yet another disapointment. I expected more.

Mayhap this sounds like a rant, but it was such a disapointment. I expected more of the couple. I guess they evovled very nicely between the ending of _Runaway_ and _Captive_. I gave this book a 2 because although content was not enticing, Heather Graham does know how to spin a tale in fashion. Beautiful with word usage and fire.

Summary: I am a true fan of this incredible series!!!!!!!!!
Review: I first began the series with "Rebel". When I relized this was the third in a series, I quickly found the other two and fell in love with those as well. I loved the line in "Rebel", when Tara is talking to Ian about his marriage to Alaina and she remarks that he should know how she and his father came to be wed!! All the books in this series are wonderful and everyone should do themselves a favor and introduce the McKenzies into their lives.

Summary: A must -read-book!!(Spicy_Chicken_onthe_Run@yahoo.com)
Review: I found this book by chance ,it was on sale in a public library and I saw Heather Graham written on the cover ,I didn't think twice.I said it's got to be a great book. And it was. Although I've been reading backwards since I read "Rebel" first ,then "Surrender" I loved them both. It's so amazing the way H.Graham tells a story! I was enthralled while reading "Runaway" ,finished in 3 days.I so wished I'd have read it before.Whenever I get the chance to buy a new book I go for her books Heather ,Graham or Shannon Drake. She is one of the greatest authors ever.Thank God for H.Graham!

Summary: Sooo Good!!!!!!!
Review: I got this book by chance only having read one of Heather Graham's modern day books and thought it was good but not great. After reading "Runaway" I hunted down the rest of the series. I loved Tara and Jarrett. It is total romance and steamy as well. It takes away from the real world and the way things are done in todays time. You have to read "Captive" after this.

Summary: Absolutely a wonderful start for a series
Review: I highly recommend this book, along with the sequels Captive, Rebel, and Surrender. They follow the McKenzie family through 2 generations, and all I can say is....Don't stop now! Please keep the series coming!!

Summary: I READ THE FIRST...BOUGHT THE REST!!
Review: I picked up Runaway on sale at the bookstore. As a native Floridian and lover of romance novels, this book looked right up my alley. I'm one of those people who takes two months to read a book, but I had this one finished in three days! After logging on to Amazon.com I was encouraged to find out it was the first in a five part series! I bought the remaining four and finished the first two in a week. I love Heather Graham's descriptive words and strong female characters. I also like the way she's meshed fictional characters with the real-life events that shaped the state of Florida. My only wish is that she would continue the saga with more books involving the McKenzie clan! It would be a must-buy for me!

Summary: Good, strong characters, somewhat predictable story...
Review: I should start by saying that Heahter Graham clearly loves Florida and its history, and her descriptions and background are quite lovely. This book and its sequal, Captive, do a nice job of teaching about the early history of the state. I liked that a lot.

In most ways this book adheres quite closely to formulaic romance novel conventions. The hero and heroine deal with secrets and misunderstandings and also deal with tumultuous passion that makes all the secrets and misunderstandings fade. I am never sure about this as the basis for strength in a romantic relationship in these stories. I am concerned with some of the Byronic aggression of the hero and with the heroine's unwillingness to reveal even basic information about herself--with this level of lack of trust, how can their relationship grow at all?

However, the tumultuous passion here is steamy and fun, and the historical background is important and helps to develop the characters. I ended up really liking Jarrett McKenzie and Tara Brent and being very glad that they have a happy, satisfying life and reoccur in Captive.

Ultimately, good historical romance and a lot of escapist fun.
