Summary: Unlike anything I had read
Review: Talk about role reveral. I couldn't make up my mind if I liked the plot or not. On the one hand it was refreshing to have a woman in total control but I missed having the strong, take charge male. True, the hero was on the threshold of manhood, but I wanted him to be more on the heroine's level. I found this book unlike anything that has been written. It left me questioning how I would react in that situation. I found myself backing the hero and totally confused about it. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Summary: stop moaning
Review: This review is to defend ms Joy to all the people who hated ROP for supercillious reasons. It is all very well to dislike a book because of personal taste but to slam a book just because it is different, is daft! I have been reading sci-fi fantasy for longer than romance so I know that to make a book that little bit more realistic, you have to invent a couple of new words. It is not hard to guess the meaning of the phrases dreamed up by the fertile mind of the author! I also think that if you dislike the glossary idea, why not read it through before you start, then you will at least have some idea of what the phrases mean. I personally loved this book, although I also hoped that it would be Traeds story before it came out. Anyone who disliked the protrayal of women must remember that if we had always been in charge, would we, or would we not, be just as despotic as the men in regency novels are portrayed? You cannot base the characters personality traits on those of earth, as the book is not set on earth. ( Sorry this seems to have turned into a tirade) If you are thinking of buying this book, I seriously recommend it. Ms Joy has given us a romance in which you can empathise with both characters and admire the heroine. ( The hero is not too shabby either)( Grrrrr)( Yummy!!) Enjoy (no pun intended)

Summary: What a disappointment!
Review: I think Dara Joy's High Energy is a wonderful romance book and while none of her others are as good, I have always thought anything she wrote was worth buying. This book has changed my mind and I doubt that I will ever automatically buy another of her books again. Turning the world of Regency England upside down is clever and should have provided a wonderful place to set a story - but this world is horrid and lacks even one character to redeem it. Green is no hero (or heroine) and that makes the book fail - what is there to hold on to if one of the main characters is so yicky? A heroine would have understood how Jorlan felt and done what she could to make it better. Instead in big ways and in small ways she made it worse. If this had been a typical romance and the hero had behaved in the same way Green did most of us would have been raging. When the hero is no hero and is dismissive of the heroine and belittles her over and over again you do not have a romance worth reading. It is no different if the roles are reversed. What little comfort Green gave to Jorlan comes at the very end of the book - almost the last page - and is so unbelievable as to be silly. She did not grow at all during the book (and Jorlan just got beaten down) so the ending seems too little to do any good. As to Jorlan, he should have run off before he accepted what Green and her society wanted to do to him and in a typical Regency novel the girl more than likely would have! A heroine with nothing about her to like, a hero cast about in a book with no one worth being with, and a story line that struggles to even suggest a plot, this book is a disappointing read. Dara Joy is a better writer than this and could have done a much better job. Get it at the library and save your money for something you will want to keep and re-read rather than something you will either soon forget or wish you had never bought.

Summary: Creative Story Line From Begining, Until The End!
Review: Once again Dar Joy's mind has taken us to places we never knew we wanted to go and left us wondering why not. Her futuristic books are alway a joy and this one is no exception. This one also does something that the others have not; it leaves you wondering, how can I review this book and yet do it credit?

It's a women's world, and it's not very pretty. It's not fun to see men rule with an iron fist and even less to see another women do it to a man. When I found out what this book was about I thought it was going to be fun to see men get some of their own back. But cruelty and unjustice is just that, cruel and unjust, no matter who wales the sword. And she lets us know it in a very subtle way. Boy do you come away with mixed feelings.

Once again her story line has multi layers that are a joy to wave through. There are new words that's much more fun to see it you can figure out on your own than it is to look in the back of the book for there meanings.

It's not a part of the Matrix Series (and I can't tell you how disapointed I was because it was not) but it is the next best thing. It's a keeper, and I hope a new series.

Summary: At last, something different and exciting
Review: I knew when I first read the premise for this book that it was going to be controversial, and boy, was I right. People seem to either absolutely love or hate this book. I loved it, enjoying the gender role-reversal. I am bored sick of chest-beating, muscle-bound alpha-male heros, and Jorlan was sexy and desireable because of his inner strength and integrity. I'm also sick of whimpering, inexperienced virginal heroines, and Green was strong, confident and able to rise above the injustice of her society. It was nice to see an older woman/younger male relationship, and one that was sexually intense and mentally/physically passionate. I thought the world Joy created was beautifully realized. The connection between the male sensitives and the Forus moon could have used a little more clarification, but I'm figuring there will be a sequel to answer questions left open by the ending. This is definitly a book that bears re-reading, finding new layers and nuances every time. I do hope this book will open up new avenues of plot, characterization and setting for the romance genre.

Summary: Interesting, but not enthralling.
Review: Not as bad as this Regency style gender switch story could have been. Unfortunately, not as good as I expected from Dara Joy. In her talented hands, the story kept my interest throughout. However...there were too many loose threads and the characterizations of everyday men and women too rigid. Even in Regencies, you have all types among the "weaker sex", from the rule-follower to the rule-breaker. The language devised by Joy was the best of all, keeping me guessing how she came up with the particular phrase.

Summary: MORE, MORE, MORE!!
Review: Loved everything from the fictional surroundings to the ideas of a female ruled society! I'd have read this even without the romance! I couldn't put it down, I so wanted to know what was going to happen next! Ms. Joy, you should tell us River's story next :) How 'bout it?

Summary: Another devotee
Review: I absolutely adored this book -- reading it all in one sitting. I want more, more, more!!! This new world she created was very intriguing and not at all what I expected. I want to learn more about this society and watch GReen and Jorlan transform it.

Summary: A Fresh Idea Got Old Fast!
Review: I have loved most of Dara Joy's books - particularly the Matrix Series (not fond of the modern novels, though). I ordered this one without knowing much of its basic premise. While finding it refreshing for the first 50 pages or so, the entire premise got old fast. So much of it is ridiculous on its face that I lost interest in it. Emasculating a hero does not still leave a hero, in my eyes. And personal preference, of course - but I did not enjoy most of the love scenes, particularly the first one. I am with some of the other readers who have asked - please do NOT make this a series start. I will not read another one in such a series.

Summary: I want River's story!
Review: I hope her next book is the continuation of Ritual of Proof specifically Rivers story. His character along with the rest of the characters were fantastic. I enjoyed the role reversal too.
